Access Flash Shared Object?
Apr 19, 2010
I'm looking for a direct way for server-side code to access a flash shared object. Obviously you can write some javascript that can read flash shared objects via ExternalInterface. But doing that requires a client code execution, and then a push of the shared object data back to the server-side code. This seems rather complicated.
So is there a way for asp.net, php, or any other server-side script to request the data in a flash shared object?

So I have an ASP DOT NET web service which needs to impersonate Windows Authenticated users. This web service calls into a Com Api to perform database operations.
It seems like the Impersonation does not persist into the Com Api. Is this because the Com DLL is loaded into its own memory space and treated as a separate process? Also what would be some ways to deal with this issue and persist the Impersonation into the Com Api Dll?
Moving the functionality of the Com Api into the dot net code is not an option at this point. Also the Com Api was written in C++.

I'm using urlrewriting to rewrite my url. Let me introduce my problem by bellow example: Here is old url: http://localhost/test/pages.aspx?pageid=1 I have 2 cases to rewrite:
http://localhost/test/url-rewriting-get-start.aspx
http://localhost/test/url-rewriting/get-start.aspx
The first case is ok, but I would like to use the second case. In this case I must use root path for image, css and object tag (for flash):
With image, I modified to: <image src="~/images/icon.jpg" runat="server"/>
With css, I modified in head tag: <head runat="server">
But with the object tag, I don't know how to set root for the data, movie parameter:
<object data="anim/head.swf?xmlPath=./menu_flash.html" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="962" height="228">
<param name="movie" value="anim/head.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />

I am using Menu control with CSSFriendlyAdapters to create a horizontal drop-down menu. However, I have page where there is an image gallery built as a flash object just below the top tier of the menu. If I click on an item that has submenu items the drop-down items go behind the flash object and you can't see them to click on them.The menu is defined in the masterpage. how to get round this without moving / changing the look of the page. Can the menu be set to be in front of the flash object?

We have a swf file that we want to secure and make available only to authorized users.
I embedded the file in an aspx page and that works fine, since ASP.NET handles the aspx page, I can use ASP.NET authorization features and in the web.config restrict the access to roles="AllowedUsers" for example.
However smart users could still get to the file by accessing directly for example www.mysite/flash.swf. We want to make that kind of access secure.

I have a shared module in an asp.net web app which gets various information about a group or user. Since the Iuser account on the web does not have enough rights to query the AD, I need to supply an appropriate userid and passcode for the directoryentry in the shared code. Since my credentials so the have the appropriate rights to query the AD I like to impersonate myself(user.identity). This works fine for a webpage, but I can't pass the user.identity object to shared code. I get an error. Is there a way to pass the user.identity object to a shared function in another module?

I am trying to access a shared folder which is located on a different server rather than on the asp.net server.
I configured windows authentication and set impersonation to true. Also try with enable/disable basic authentication.
I have tried the following:
with a mapped driveshared folder access (\sharedfolder)virtual directory pointing to shared folder with pass through configuration. However none of the above works. I am getting "Access Denied" error when trying with shared folder and virtual directory. In the case of mapped drive getting "Not Found" error.

Server A exists on domain A and server B exists on domain B. From server A I need to output file names that exist on shared folder on server B. I tried the following with no success (Access denied error):
DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo(@"\serversharedFolder");
After some Googling I found that I need to use personlization to impersonate an existing user on Server B that has access to that shared folder. I used a C# personlization class as explained on codeproject (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/cpimpersonation1.aspx). I supply the domain, the user, and the password and hope to get access to the shared folder BUT the error I see now is"Login failure: unknown user or bad password".
I am 100% sure that the domain, user, and password I supplied are correct. When trying to access the share via windows explorer from server A I am prompted for a username and password. After entering domainusername and the password I have access to the folder. So I know that the credentials I supplied are correct.
Am I going about this the right way? I have full access to server A and B so maybe there is an easier way to accomplish my goal.

The file should only be viewed upon logging in to the asp.net webportal which displays it as an embedded flash animation.
