I was debugging my web project and faced a problem that I don't know how to watch content of hashtables or similar data structures.
For example, I have assigned before that Session["errorMessage"]="Hewstone we have a problem here...". What is my actions in order to watch that string in watches list?
Is there any way to monitor asp.net session state in order to watch object size, or is there any other practice to find out a way to lighten asp.net session?
I'm finishing up my first web service. It stores data on a dataset that I later need to check up on, so I need to keep that information around. I've already enabled the session in the web service's method "EnableSession = true" [WebMethod(Description = "Receives status requests, as well as status udpates.", EnableSession = true)]
If I debug the web service everything works but if I try to use the application that sends the requests to the web service while it is published, the session keeps restarting again and again and again.
I am debugging my project, the first page is a login page which I login and I can see from debug that the session is being set, after the redirect to the homepage the session seems to be lost and I am taken back to the login page.
If I run outside of VS on our sandbox or production server the login works fine. It only seems to be my machine w/ VS that does not like the sessions.
I get this error when I hit F5 in VS 2008. I have checked that Windows authentication is enabled on the site and it is. I can mannully attach the debugger to the IIS process and it works. What could be wrong? I have tried alot of things without success.
I'm trying to debug my web application on my localhost machine in Visual Studio 2010 and I keep getting this error: "unable to start debugging on web server. The Microsoft Visual Studio remote debugging monitor(MSVSMON.exe) does not appear to be running on the remote computer."
Is there a way I can turn this off as I'm not trying to make any attempts debugging remotely.
I'm still debugging my application so it's on the local server. As I debug and stop then debug again, eventually lblNoOfUsers.text turns to "0" instead of "1", even as I'm navigating my application. It only turns to "1" again if I log out and sign back in. It's almost as though Membership.GetNumberOfUsersOnline my login are referencing two different session states. How is this possible? Does asp.net create a new session state cookie each time I start debugging?
If I have an Access database with two tables, called 'Users' and 'Items', what is the method to create a watch list, so a user can login and see the list of items they have chosen to watch (as you can in ebay for example)?I thought the solution might involve using code to modify the relationships between the two tables, but am not sure how this would work in practice.I've searched for answers, but have not made any progress,
I put this sessions in the page load of the page I want them to be displayed in, but the session contents appear in the top of my website not in the content what is the problem????
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Response.Write("<h1 align=center>Radiation Calculator</h1>") Response.Write("<br>Hi Mr/Mrs " & Session("Username")) Response.Write("<br>The following results have been sent to your Email " & Session("Email")) Response.Write("<br>Air Traveling Distance " & Session("Air Traveling Disance") & " Km") Response.Write("<br>You have selected the following Factors: " & Session("Factor0") & " . " & Session("Factor1") & " . " & Session("Factor2") & " . " & Session("Factor3") & " . " & Session("Factor4") & " . " & Session("Factor5") & " . " & Session("Factor6") & " . " & Session("Factor7")) Response.Write("<br>Total Radiation " & Session("Total Radiation") & " mrem") Response.Write("<br>Your Life Reduction would be: " & Session("User Life Expectancy In Minutes") & "Mintues " & " " & Session("User Life Expectancy In Hours")) End Sub
I am running Visual Studio 2010 (as Admin), IIS 7 on Windows 7 x64. I am able to run the ASP.NET web site in IIS 7 without debugging just fine, but when I press F5 to debug it, I get: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Could not start ASP.NET debugging. More information may be available by starting the project without debugging. Unfortunately the help link is not helping me much and leads down a heck of a large tree of things. I checked the following:
Security requirements — I don't recall having to do anything special before. The worker process in IIS7 is w3wp.exe. It says that if it's running as ASPNET or NETWORK SERVICE I must have Administrator privileges to debug it. How do I find out if I need to change something here? Web site Property Pages > Start Options > Debuggers > ASP.NET is checked. Use custom server is set to the URL of the site (which works fine without debugging). Debugging is enabled in web.config. Application is using ASP.NET 3.5 (I want to move to 4.0 eventually but I have some migration to deal with). Application pool: Classing .NET AppPool (also tried DefaultAppPool). Surely it shouldn't be that hard to install IIS, VS, create a web site, and start testing it?
I am creating a content management system but there is one problem. What I want to do in my website is that when a user opens the website a new sessionid is created for that user, and when the user closes the website, the sessionid is cleared. How can I can do it?
I am facing a decision now on how to make a "watch this item" function, like the one on ebay!I was thinking to make a SQL datatable with two fileds, for example: UserID and ItemID, anto store data there,
but I am afraid if I do it like this, my server performance will slow down. For example if I have about 10.000 users and everyone is watching just about 5 items, then my datatable will have about 50.000 entries. I am not really familiar with server performans when dealing with such big datatables. What do you think? Am I going to face problems with server performance
if I do it this way?Second method that I was thinking is to automatically create a datatable for every user in which ItemID will be stored later. With this method I will not have a huge datatable, but then I will have about 10.000 small datatables. Is this a better method?
I'm learning ASP.net slowly, and enjoying the process. My current challenge is actually not knowing the name of the process that I want. I want to be able to save a small bit of asp.net code and be able to use it in multiple page.
I am building a website in which all of the site layout is in Master page and the content of the site is in the inherited pages. I have various links for navigation in which i simple use Response.Redirect to transfer to different pages. Now the problem is that I want to put the content place holder inside Ajax Update panel so that the postbacks are Asynchronous and I want to show the postback by an animated image inside Update Panel progress control. The problem is that I am unable to achieve this result and the entire page is posted back and rendered again. I have placed the content place holder inside the Ajax control toolkit's Update panel but it does not work. Is there any way that I can change the content of the content place holder to a new page with asynchronous postback.
I will be getting data through wcf service coming form commerce server (instead of DB). Data which is coming will be in the form big html content with all html tags or may be a single line sentence. I should display this dynamic data into the placeholder in the content page (master content page). I have been trying but not able to load when the data is in the form of HTML page. html content or may be single lline of senetence.
How to I put this form on my page? The problem is I have a master page which wraps the content pages content in the ASP.net form, I can't nest the forms.
I am pasting my resume in CKEditor. My resume have some images, Horizontal line, Bullets. When I paste it in CKEditor is not displaying these contents there. Is it any other way to do it? I want to show my resume format as it is as I have on the browser.
how can i add title and meta tags for content pages in a project base on master and content page(dinamically) ?
i used the blow method for master page :
[code]....
and the error is :(in line *)
Error 17 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition for 'SetMetaTags' and no extension method 'SetMetaTags' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I'm in a little bit of a bind and have some weird behavior happening with a multiview control behaving differently between two machines, and of course, the production machine is the broken one. The page renders the correct content on both machines, but if I save the html file the production machine's source is wrong.
For example, if for step 1 the output should be just the letter A, and step 2 the output should be just the letter B, and step 3 the output should be the letter C, here is what happens:
Step 1:
Production - The source and output are both the letter A
Dev - the source and output are both the letter A
Step 2:
Production - the source is the letter A and the ouput on the browser is the letter B
Dev - the source and output on the browser are both the letter B
Step 3:
Production - the source is the letter A and the ouput on the browser is the letter C
Dev - the source and output on the browser are both the letter C
Is this some issue with SessionState? I'm very new to Multiviews and by no means an ASP expert.
