Web Forms :: Add Attributes To Button Within Web User Control?
Feb 2, 2010
I have a web user control (wcCmdBtn.ascx) which has an asp.net button and i need to add an additional attribute from the form page that the user control is linked on. My button name is btnExport and my language is vb.
Im trying to create a "user control menu" where links to a page's usercontrols are placed at the top of the page. This will allow me to put several usercontrols on a page and allow the user to jump to that section of the page without scrolling so much. In order to do this, I put each usercontrol in a folder (usercontrols) and gave each control a Description property (<%@ Control Language="C#" Description = "Vehicles" .... %>).
My question is how can I access this description dynamically? I want to use this description as the link in my menu. So far, I have a foreach on my page that looks in the ControlCollection for a control that is of the ASP.usercontrols type. If it is I would assume that I could access its attributes and grab that description property. How can I do this? (Im also open to a better way to achieve my "user control menu", but maybe thats another question.) Should I use ((System.Web.UI.UserControl)mydynamiccontrol).Attributes.Keys?
i would like to ask about how can i open user control page when i click a button on parent page, also, can i call parent's method from user control page and then refresh parent page?
I just want to add and attribute called "pubID" to an image button with the value I give it and then call that value on the image button click event. This image button was created dynamically as well. At the moment this code is not working. When debugging it looks like Pubid is getting assigned a value but on the click event, the attribute isn't being retrieved correctly.
I have a User Control with a multiple number of link buttons.
What I want to achieve is to change the Background colour of one of the link button control in the page load event of one of the pages. I am finding it difficult to access the link button in user control .
I have a menu in a user control with a sql database datasource. From what I have read online, the staticselectedstyle will only work if the menu control has a datasourceid defined. Here's what I have so far:
I know this is simple, but i have a problem solving this.I have a listview, In the Edit template I have added a button. On ListView_Itemdatabound event, i want attributes to this button to call either a javascript function ot open a new.aspx page.On button click, i get round trip back to server. I just want it to call Javascript function or open new page.
I have written a user control that captures some user input and has a Save button to save it to the DB. I use a repeater to render a number of these controls on the page - imagine a list of multiple choice questions with a Save button by each question.
I am loading the user control inside the repeater's ItemDataBound event like this (code simplified):
[code]....
The problem is that when the Save button is clicked, the page posts back, but lbnUpdate_Click is not called. The Page_Load event of the page itself is called however.
I should mention that the repeater is part of a user control, and that user control is loaded inside another user control (this is a DotNetNuke site which makes heavy use of user controls). The Save button link looks like this:
My button in user control doesn't work /its click event doesn't fire/. This user control is on the page that inherits from master page. Although, the user control buttons on the master page work correctly.
I have a link button which is part of my user control. Further, the control is actually added to the control dynamically. Whilst, I can see the control, and is added to the page without any visible errors, but when I click on to fire an event which on that user control nothing happens. What is even more odd, if I add a break point to event, and then click in debug mode, I can't even reach the break point!
To try and resolve this, I have tried giving the link button ids, and ensured they unique, added override using OnInit and used the createchildcontrols method, but nothing seems to work!
i have a link button thats text value is populated from a dataset value retrieved from a database. When the user clicks on this link button I want to somehow capture the text value. The trick is the linkbutton is within a usercontrol, and I want to do the processing from the user controls parent. I am able to get the ID of the clicked linkbutton with the use of Request.Form["__EVENTTARGET"];, however i need the text value, in this case its a job number.
I may be able to do this via javascript with the OnClientClick;
When I do this I get a javascript error saying "M10725"(which is my job number being clicked) is ndefined. I dont know what this means. Do I somehow have to give the linkbutton being click a value?
I know there's been a lot of dicussion about removing inline styles that asp.Image control renders by default. I have applyed soultion mentionedhere. But I am facing another problem with this control. If I set Width and Haigth attributes on Image control and the result HTML is:
What I would like to have is separate Width and Height rendered outside style attribute. Like when having server HTML control. And let's say that I cannot subsitute asp.net image control with HTML server control.
Is there a way to somehow render Width and Height for asp.Image separatly?
I have a checkboxlist control and a button control in a popup forum. The button is diabled initially. I want to enable the button as soon as the user checks or unchecks any of the items for the first time in the checkboxlist.
I have a user control that displays some database records when I first hit the page. When I click the submit button the page load event fires again, loading the user control again. Then the button click event fires inserting a new row in the database which is not shown on the page because the user control already did its stuff. If I could get the user control to do its stuff after the button click event I could then see the newly inserted row. I can do this by pulling the code out of the button click event and sticking it in the page load event. However, I think that would be bad code flow. How can I get the user control to do its stuff after the button click event has fired?
Here is what i am trying to do I have a multiview and two views in it so based on click event the link the views change
[code]....
apparently they are not firing on first try. The reason i am doing this is the two views have tables with different images to be used in building my menu.
What am i doing wrong? or why is the click event firing on second try?
I have a aspx page, default.aspx, with an user control in it. Inside the user control (UC 1) there is a DataGrid. When the DataGrid is loading data with ItemDataBound, I need to dynamically load another user control (UC 2) for each row in the DataGrid. UC 2 has a Button ( BTN )with an eventhandler associated with it in code behind.
User control loading is fine, and the Button, BTN, is there. However, when I click the Button, the eventhandler is not reached, not firing, even though the page does postback. I googled for this issues, and I know the dynamically loaded user controls need to be loaded every time the page is postback. In my case, it needs to be loaded each time the datagrid is doing ItemDataBound. I did it and even hook up the eventhandler with button click event each time when the user control is dynamically loaded. I set EnableViewState to true on the Page and controls.
The following is part of the code from UC 1, AcctPaymentDetail is UC 2 in the code.
I have user control. Inside that have some buttons. my page has gridview . I want check grid view rows from user control button. User control is my menu. My grid has column with radio button.
When i click button of user control i want load item page which data which gridview radio button cheked true.
I have little strange question. I would like to Validate my Page Controls on the button click which is there in the User Control. This user control is placed on the Page. If I check Page.IsValid property on button click event, it returns false. But Validation Summary message doesn't popup. So user doesn't know what's happening. It will not save the information and it won't give the validation message too.
Using VS 2010 RC, VB, I have a label on a masterpage that is hidden. I want to make it visible from a content page when needed, and have the text change on the label as well from the master page.
I am using the following to access the label, but the text and other properties don't change for some reason.
Dim lblErrorMessage As Label lblErrorMessage = CType(Master.FindControl("lblErrorMessage1"), Label) lblErrorMessage.Style.Add("display", "inline") lblErrorMessage.Text = "LoginID ALREADY EXISTS!!! Please choose a different ID"
