Wy To Bind A Button On Click Event In Code Behind

Oct 29, 2010

I'm building a button in my code behind file and want to bind the click function to an existing click function of a different button. How do I handle this? I was hoping for something simple like:

Button b = new Button();
b.onClick = otherClickEvent();

but apparently that's not doable. Am I missing something here. I'm aware of OnClientClick, but that only deals with the JS side of things apparently.

MVC :how To Use A Simple Javascript Code Within The Click Event Of The Checkbox

Aug 2, 2010

Here is my situation. I have inherited an MVC 2 application. I am learning MVC 2 on the fly with this application. I am trying to validate a checkbox by doing this: Grey out the submit button until the user clicks on the "checkbox" then the submit button is enabled. 1st question: Where do I place the code to make this happen? 2nd Question: How do I go about doing what I explained? I wanted to use a simple javascript code within the click event of the checkbox but I don't see this in MVC 2.

C# - Calling A Code Behind Method Based On A Click Event

Mar 5, 2010

I currently have this working but it requires me to have a static method as the method called in the code behind. I would like to be able to access some member variables that can't be static.

EDIT: Let me clarify, I'm looking to edit a value in one of the user controls on the page based on the button click. I am holding the user controls in a list on the page and using the parameters passed through the javascript to find the user control that I want to update and modify the value there.

It currently looks like this:

Javascript:

function incrementCompletes(obj)
{
var firstParameter = $(obj).parents('.parentClass1').find('.childClass1').html();
var secondParameter = $(obj).parents('.parentClass2').find('.childClass2').html();

[Code]....

I would like to find a solution that does not require the method called to be static.

Web Forms :: How To Disable The Button And Run Processing Code During The Click Event

Dec 16, 2010

Situation:

1) Click on 'Check' button and the button will disable

2) Run a processing code(for checking) and once it is done, navigate to a new page(NewPage2).

Here are 2 code situations (1):

[Code]....

and if I do this way (2),:

[Code]....

it will navigate to NewPage2.aspx, but during the execution of the processing code, ButtonCheck control will not be disabled as the Click Event has not finished, and I want it to disable during the checking process. If the 1st option is executed, it will throw to me "Response is not available in this context."? HttpContext is null for (1). In my opinion, I think that the navigation does not recognise the response object as it is in a thread and has exited out of the buttoncheck event. But I'm still not sure why.

how to disable the button and run processing code during the click event and be able to navigate to a new page?

Web Forms :: Click Event Validation By Using VB In The Code Behind And SQL Server 2005

Jan 31, 2011

On one page, I have 2 buttons. One that says Clock-in and the other says Clock-out. As of this moment, the application will allow you to click on the clock-in button without having clocked out the previous day and will allow you to click the clock-out without being clocked in. If a user is clocked in and they click the clock-in button again, I would like an alert to pop-up that would say "you must clock out before you can clock in". And if the user clicks clock-out without being clocked in, it should say "you must clock in before you can clock out". I am using VB in the code behind and SQL Server 2005. My current button click events are below:

Force JQuery Click Event To Proceed Any Control Click Event On Page?

Mar 22, 2010

I've found posts about making a click event with jQuery for a button, however I need a little more then that. When any postback occurs on a page, I need to fire off a jQuery click event. Based on a condition, I want to continue processing (including running the server-side event code after the jQuery code), or, perform a redirect. I'm not quite sure how to go about this.

Web Forms :: Binding A Click Events Validation To Whether Another Click Event Has Happened?

Jan 7, 2011

I've been searching a little bit to try and find the answer to this problem. As of right now another person I work with has designed a wizard step with an upload button in part of it. After the person clicks the browse button and selects their file a validation statement comes up saying, "Please click 'upload and continue' or clear the field" and then is supposed to disable the continue button until this is done. He started by adding a RegularExpressionValidator and found it did not solve his problem.

Now that he's out today we're working on trying to solve this and my first though is to actually use a custom validator instead and have it call a function in the back-code for validation which checks to see if the "Upload" click-event has happened. Is there an easy way of verifying whether or not a click-event has occurred. Basically my conditional is shown in the pseudo-code below...

C# - Button Event Handlers Do Not Fire On The First Click But On The Second Click After A PostBack

May 4, 2010

Background: I am customizing an existing ASP .NET / C# application. It has it's own little "framework" and conventions for developers to follow when extending/customizing its functionality. I am currently extending some of it's administrative functionality, to which the framework provides a contract to enforce implementation of the GetAdministrationInterface() method, which returns System.Web.UI.Control. This method is called during the Page_Load() method of the page hosting the GUI interface.

Problem: I have three buttons in my GUI, each of which have been assigned an Event Handler. My administration GUI loads up perfectly fine, but clicking any of the buttons doesn't do what I expect them to do. However, when I click them a second time, the buttons work.

I placed breakpoints at the beginning of each event handler method and stepped through my code. On the first click, none of the event handlers were triggered. On the second click, they fired.

Example of Button Definition (within GetAdministrationInterface)

But issue comes up when entering a value in the textbox and directly clicking on the save button without tabbing out of the text box. In the second scenario, only textchanged event fires and save click event dosen't fire. What I was expecting was after exection of textchanged event, save click event should also fire. But this is not happening.

Web Forms :: Firing Click Event On A User-control That Is Created From Another Event?

Mar 1, 2011

I have a gridview called gvResults. In the gvResults_RowEditing event I add a row below the one selected. In that new row, which spans all columns, I insert a user-control. There are two buttons and some textboxes in the user control.

My problem is that when I click one of the user-control buttons it never gets to the button event handler, I think because the user control is not recreated on the page postback. How can I have the user-control events fire before the parent page events fire?

I tried using an update panel, but I still get the parent posting back before the user-control events.

AJAX :: Trigger Event Added To Dynamic LinkButton Click Event?

Jun 25, 2010

I have searched around but unable to find a solution that will work. I have a link button that is created dynamically during the page load. It is given an ID (obviously). There is a script manager on the page. I have the controls added to a panel in the updatepanel (updatePanel1). There is a dynamic label that is also created with each link button. I can get a response from the linkbutton click event during a postback on the second time clicking the linkbutton, but I am getting a complete postback instead of the asyncpostback for that control. During the creation of the dynamic linkbuttons, I am also creating a dynamic trigger for each button and adding it to the updatePanel1. The Click event is not firing the method without doing a complete page postback.
