Web Forms :: View The Page Event With C# Code Behind In Vs 2005?
Feb 9, 2010
In vb.net code behind we can go the code view and from right dropdown box we can view the page events. But i c# code behind i can find events for controls like button and other controls. but in c# how to view the page events.
On one page, I have 2 buttons. One that says Clock-in and the other says Clock-out. As of this moment, the application will allow you to click on the clock-in button without having clocked out the previous day and will allow you to click the clock-out without being clocked in. If a user is clocked in and they click the clock-in button again, I would like an alert to pop-up that would say "you must clock out before you can clock in". And if the user clicks clock-out without being clocked in, it should say "you must clock in before you can clock out". I am using VB in the code behind and SQL Server 2005. My current button click events are below:
Can not fire Grid View RowEditing event in page load?
I have a grid view , select the grid line item from popup when click the image button which is located in header template. When click the select button in popup window , fill up the grid row and allow to edit the quantity text box.
In page load If Page.Request.Params("__EVENTTARGET") = "ctl00_popupField" Then AddHandler grdDOLineItem.RowEditing, AddressOf grdDOLineItem_RowEditing End If Protected Sub grdDOLineItem_RowEditing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewEditEventArgs) 'bind the grid view row End Sub
1) I know there are lots of web sites that describe in what order events are called during the Asp.Net page life-cycle. But is there also a tool, perhaps Reflector, that would enable me to figure out by myself in what order are ALL the page's events and their event handlers called during the page's life cycle? 2) Would you say that trying to figure out exactly what is going on under the hood is a good idea or a waste of time? To clarify - I'd like to figure out exactly what is going on when a control tree is build - thus all the method calls, all the events called etc needed for control tree to be build ( I imagine there are hundreds or perhaps thousands lines of code written just for building a control tree).
for some very special reason i want to click on a button in masterpage.aspx firing the event of code-behind without having reloaded masterpage.master.cs (starting page_load()).
I am new to asp.net, so this might be a basic question. But I am struggling on this for more time... I have loaded a COM object in Server script using code behind (C#) and that COM object will trigger events in some random interval. I need to update the client page whenever I receive an event from the COM object from server side (code behind). My question is, Is there a way to make the client page do postback from the code behind(C#)? ie., The client page needs to be updated whenever an event occurs in the server. Is that possible? The com event does not trigger a postback since it only occurs in the server and not in the client.
I have a master page and i am changing the masterpage file property to some other master page dynamically in the page PreInit event and that changing url is taken from a viewstate. but the view state is not getting in the pre init event.
I have alot of code in the page load event as below.
Is it best practice to use (!NotPostBack) and wrap the code in this block or does it depend on the methods etc. I also have code which populates ajax slideshow as well which gets images from database.
I have a relatively simple page that will do most of its operations on the client side using Javascript or JQuery. However, initially I do need to retrieve some data from the DB server based on QueryString parameters.
I plan on passing this data in the form of a JSON string to the script by an old-fashioned ASP manner ( var severData = <%=MyPublicData %>) block where MyPublicData is defined in CodeBehind as:
Public string MyPublicData;
The question is, which event in the ASP.NET page lifecycle is the best for this? Page_Init ? Page_Load? Also, is it worth the effort to do this in ASP.NET MVC. I did look at this possiblity but it seemed a little too much for a simple page like this where I do more 90% of the work on the client.
I haven't done much C# programming in a year - now I can't remember how to insert button click event code into the code behind page for an asp.net button in the html side. I know there's a slick way to do it, bit I can't find it anywhere. I remember that it automatically created the event code from the, for example, Button1 element. The event would then be Button1_Click(...).
How to retrieve the particular row of detailsview into textbox on page load event if details view defaultmode is readonly i want to retrieve the email id from detailsview email row in textbox1 on page load event ?
It happened to add an extra Gridveiw Header in row_databound event , It did worked fine on !Postback but disappered on Page.Postback . Quick google search guided me to move the event to Row_Created event and every thing is okay .
Can any expert post some pointers , differnces between grid row_created vs row_databount with some sample table data created dynamically behaviour of both the events in !Postback and page.Postback .
I have a website that contains several aspx pages linked to a single aspx.vb code behind file. Four of these aspx pages have a single button on each (four total). My issue is handling each button's click event on each page using the single code behind file.

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '?, Name = ?, Addr1 = ?, Addr2 = ?, Addr3 = ?, Addr4 = ?, PhoneNo = ?, HPhoneNo =' at line 1
I have a page books.aspx that has a control named authors.ascx.
Inside the authors control there is a "select" button I want to add some kind of listener or event handler (not sure of the correct terminology) so on the parent page (books.aspx) I can respond to the "select" button being clicked.
I have to pass the authorID from the user control to the parent page.
In my authors.ascx control I just created this event:
[Code]....
Now I need to write the function for SelectAuthorBtnClick and I think add some kind of listener in the parent page to listen and handle the event.
