Web Forms :: Converting Table To XML Format Then Saving It Silently As File?

Mar 8, 2011

Here's what I have in my ASPX file:

<form id="form1" runat="server">
<table border="1" width="100%">
<tr><td>Firstname</td><td>Lastname</td></tr>
<tr><td><%=Request.Querystring("fname")%></td></tr>
</table>
</form>

Here's what I have in my aspx.vb file:

Imports System.IO
Partial Public Class MyexcelPage
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Response.Clear()
Response.Buffer = True
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"
Dim stringWriter As StringWriter = New StringWriter()
Dim htmlTextWriter As HtmlTextWriter = New HtmlTextWriter(stringWriter)
Me.RenderControl(htmlTextWriter)

Not sure what to do after this or if the above will do anything.

C# - Converting From Saving In Session To Cookies?

Mar 5, 2011

So, I am working on a demo web dashboard. Previously, I had been using Session to store settings about the dashboard, but I would like to move it to a more persistent means of saving settings.It seems to me that using cookies would be my best bet. I'm not entirely positive I have the time to work everything out for writing to/from a database properly.That being said, I might be in over my head on some assumptions I had made about the similarities between Session and Cookies. Currently, I have some code like this:

public Dictionary<string, RadPageViewSetting> PageViewStates
{
get

C# - Converting A Base 64 String To An Image And Saving It?

Mar 23, 2011

Here is my code:

protected void SaveMyImage_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string imageUrl = Hidden1.Value;
string saveLocation = Server.MapPath("~/PictureUploads/whatever2.png") ;

[Code]....

The top imageUrl declartion is taking in a Base64 image string, and I want to convert it into an image. I think my set of code only works for images like "www.mysite.com/test.jpg" not for a Base64 string.

Web Forms :: Converting Date And Time Format In Vb.net?

Apr 22, 2010

I have searched a few pages on this (including MSDN) but have not quite reached a solution. I need to convert "16/04/2010 22:39:06" to "2010-04-16 22:39:06.034" (for example).

I have already written an SQL function to do this, but would rather do this in VB.NET if possible. The date value is coming from the Date Created information of a newly uploaded file:

Web Forms :: Saving Empty Textbox To SQL Table?

Sep 9, 2010

I have a textbox named txtOrderDate on my web page. I have a VB.net subroutine that saves various textboxes from my web page to my SQL table using a stored procedure. If a valid date is entered into txtDate, then my save works correctly. I have a column named OrderDate in my table. This is the column I am saving txtOrderDate to. OrderDate is defined as a date column and null is allowed.

But if txtorderDate is blank, my subroutine bombs saying cannot convert string to date. I tried various things like making the value of txtDate = DBNull.value if blank but nothing works. Seems like there would be an easy way to do this.

Web Forms :: Saving Data From A Dynamicly Created Table?

Jan 26, 2010

I first create a Dynamic table with textboxes and other controls in the cells. A user then enter data into the controls and I try to save the entered data to an access database. but when A save button is pushed the controls are not found.

I have a basic one cell asp:table on the page called "Table1" and then I append this table by using the Controls.Add(TableBuilder()) function in the Page_Init().

How the code basically works:

Public Function TableBuilder() As Table
dim r = New System.Web.UI.WebControls.TableRow()
Dim c = New System.Web.UI.WebControls.TableCell()
a = New TextBox
a.ID = "Sunday"
c.Controls.Add(a)
r.Cells.Add(c)
Table1.Rows.Add(r)
TableBuilder = Table1

The table shows up fine but after I press the save button I look for the created control to get the value the user entered it says the control is not there.

SaveButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Dim txtSunday As TextBox = Master.FindControl("MainContent").FindControl(("Sunday"))
UserEnteredData = txtSunday.text

But if I call TableBuilder() at the start of the function the control is found but the value the user entered is gone.

SaveButton_Click()
TableBuilder()
Dim txtSunday As TextBox = Master.FindControl("MainContent").FindControl(("Sunday"))
UserEnteredData = txtSunday.text

Data Controls :: Saving DropDownList Value To Database - Error Converting Data Type Nvarchar To Int

May 7, 2015

I am using  a  viewstate to store the company Ids and splitting at hyphen.

protected void onCompanychange(object sender, EventArgs e) {
ViewState["companyID"] += companydropdown.SelectedValue + "-";
String companyids = ViewState["companyID"].ToString();
string pattern = "-";
company_array = Regex.Split(companyids, pattern);
company_length = company_array.Length;
}

Company array is a string array  where i have stored the company ids

the problem is company_array[0] has the initial value of the dropdownlist(company) --select company which is why m getting the error(cannot convert data type nvarchar to int) .  I have used the same logic in many places in my project it did not give any error.

int count = 0;
company_length = company_length - 1;
while (count < GridView3.Rows.Count && compid_counter < company_length ) {
cmd = new SqlCommand("insertWorkDetais", conn);
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@trainerId",trainerID);

C# - Input String Was In Incorrect Format Error When Saving To Database

Feb 7, 2011

In SQL Server I have a db column named AppZip with type int. I have a textbox with a 5 digit zip code. When i try to save I get an error "Input string was in incorrect format." I'm confused. I'm converting the string representation of "12345" to int type, how is it the wrong format for the database? Here's my code.

q.AppZip =Convert.ToInt32(txtAppZip.Text);

(I'm using linq to sql...)

EDIT: It was because I didn't stop the method that populates the field on page load from executing on post back.

Web Forms :: Saving XML File At The External Application?

Apr 7, 2010

I'm trying to figure out how to save my XML file in the outside location.

I have a Main web app that uses an XML file as a datasource for one of it's pages. This XML file is generated manually by accessing a utuility page in the same app. I created a utility app that resides outside of the Main app ( it's on my C:/Inetpub/wwwroot) but it should save an XML file in the directory of the Main applicatoin. My utility works fine if I need to save to C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/XMLFiles) but I when I try to access the file at the Main application something like that:

objXML.Save(Server.MapPath("../../_MainApp/App_Dev/Marketing/Tests.xml"));

It gives me an error: System.Web.HttpException: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory. If I just type full URL it says that URI cannot be resolved.. How can I access that Tests.xml file to update it?
