Web Forms :: Deferred Loading And ViewState?

I wrote a UserControl that collects data in a very ordinary way using DropDown lists and Textboxes. The only thing special about this control is that it is rendered dynamically with deferred loading. Namely, I place a service call that runs the control and returns the HTML markup for the control, that I then append to a DOM element on my page using JQuery.
The user control loads fine, but I am having ViewState problems. When I try to commit the data to the DB, I am getting an Invalid ViewState exception.

I have a problem. (this a simplfied example)
In Entity framework I have a class which is effectively
fooEntity
{
public Guid Id {get; set;}
and a collection of fooChildEntity
}
a fooChildEntity is again an entityframework class
fooChildEntity

public Guid kidId {get; set;}
}
Now I also have a pair of business layer classes foo and fooChild
foo
{
public Guid Id {get; set;}
ilist<fooChild> Children {get;set;}
}
fooChild
{
public Guid kidId {get; set;}
}
My aim is to write a linq to entites that will allow me to convert the entity foo and children into the business foo and children without breaking deferred execution ( I will be adding filters to reduce the recordset at a higher coding level in the business layer)
doing something like
this.context.fooEntity
.include(fooChildEntity)
.Select( fe => new foo { Id=fe.Id ,
fe.foreach(fec => Children.add( new fooChild { kidId = fec.kidId}))})
.AsIQueryable()
is plainly rubbish and would never compile - it is however an indication of the direction I was thinking .
Even if I got a foreach to work like that or similar it would break deferred execution
At this point there are around 300,000 foo entities which I will eventualy filter to 5 or 6 foo's - this is why deferred execution is needed.

Now here is the weird thing. First i am running it locally on the built in vs2008 web server.I load my control in fine, do a postback from a linkbutton, locally on my machine it all works fine, no issue.However when it goes onto my host, it falls over with the message:
Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request.Now i also load controls dynamically and use postbacks and things in the admin area of the site...and that works fine, however my front end just keeps failing? I have problem getting values from viewstate in GetTopThemes.

I have been getting this error a lot lately with some of my users, and I had a couple of concerns with view state and I have read so many articles but I am still lost..
1. I use masterpage on all the pages and I need viewstate for some of the pages but..
There is a page where a user will fill out the information and then submit this data to a cgi server, and it is where I get most of the Client Disconnected errors, what would happen if I disable viewstate when they click on that button?
Now when a user browses from one page to another, does the view state from the previous page get deleted? If not how would I delete it?
Does the master page have its own viewstate? Would I be able to make sure none of items on my master page are using the viewstate?

I have a shopping cart page (Cart.aspx) that has a button that will (sometimes) post to a third party payment gateway, if payment is necessary. The payment gateway will process the payment and then do a silent post to my website (Order.aspx) so I can update the order status.
Order.aspx always throws an invalid viewstate error, even though viewstate is disabled on the page.
What's happening is that Cart.aspx (which has viewstate enabled) posts to the payment gateway, and the gateway will post it back as part of the silent post. Even though Order.aspx has viewstate disabled and validation disabled, it still tries to validate the __viewstate field it's being given.
I know setting EnableViewState=false will disable the rendering of the __viewstate field, but if another page provides the field, shouldn't it still skip validation? I tried calling ViewState.Clear() on the Page_Init event of Order.aspx, but ViewState is apparently empty. how to get around this? I don't want to disable ViewState on Cart.aspx (in some cases it may be necessary), but I can't figure out how to clear it on Order.aspx.

I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.

We have installed a web site written by others which is compiled with Visual Studio 2008 and hosted in Windows server 2008 R2.
The IIS connection timeout is set to 120 seconds. But for some pages, the first page loading fails with HTTP 404 error but sequential refresh can bring the page up. The same problem happens for some images which fail to load in web pages. We are not very sure it is network related issue or hosting issue.

Are there any other ViewState alternatives? I've heard a lot Like Session, holding the state of some of the page's controls' state and getting destroyed the moment the user leaves the page. I know I'm describing ViewState itself, but I'm looking for a pattern of sorts or suggestions so I can avoid ViewState altogether. An example of how I'm using it is where I'm storing the contents of my grid (A list of ViewModels) to ViewState. This helps to know which entries are dirty, which ones have been modified, their indexes, the currently selected objects, etc.

I have a repeater which viewstate is disabled, inside i have a textbox and a submit button. Before disabling viewstate i could get the text from the textbox in the submit buttons onClick event. But now it doesnt seem to work.
I dont want to enable viewstate on the repeater as my site get really heavy then. How can I get the value form the textbox when I click the submit button? using .net 3.5

Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
I add this to webconfig and it works

why does it work and what an earth is this error as it makes no sense to me. it is to do with sessions.

I want to disable viewstate for nearly all of my pages and I have used the element to do so in my web.config.On a page that specifically uses viewstate, I used the EnableViewState=true. However the page fails to work and the dropdownlists that depended on viewstate are not filled in the postback.How can I enable ViewState for some Pages when it is disabled in WebConfig?

I want to store the contents of Comment in ViewState when user is not login. I have simply created two aspx pages for testing purpose, Page1.aspx and Page2.aspx.

Now,when i run Page1.aspx and press the button i am getting this error. Can anyone tell me why this error is occuring ?

i have deployed my website on a particular server. i have some limitations in using viewstate and session variables. those pages in which i have used ViewState variables (for storing some information), i user accesses that page and does not do any activity for 5 minutes and if after 5 minutes he does any kind of activity (click on Link or button etc) then he receives following error: "Validation of viewstate MAC failed. how i can avoid above error? another problem is with session. My session expires just after 2-3 minutes. What should i do for maintaining session for long time? i can not use cookies, as if user has disabled the cookies then my website will not work...

I am having an issue with dropdown list when viewstate is disabled. The selectedindexchanged event fires even for the other events on the page.
I am pasting the code bello. To reproduce the issues I am mentioning change the selected value of the dropdownlist and then click any button the selected indexchanged event fires even thought we didnot change the value.

I am trying to make TreeView menu with three level deep. I have problems, and can't figure it out how to save TreeView position in third level, when I click it. When I click it in second level, It saves position(expanded), but when I click third level, the whole menu collapses into root level :In my example I search for selected node name, expand it with node.Expand(); .. that is for masternode, but how to expand childnodes of masternode with selectednode name? I have an ASP Wizard control. On my first step I have two listboxes, The first listbox item is populated from the server, when the page loads.User then selects data from ListBox One and Moves it to ListBox2. Then clicks on the NEXT button of the wizzard. Somehow when the user clicks on next the ListBox2 is empty.I use jquery to move data from ListBOx1 to ListBox2.
