Here's the Design View: I'd like to add code in the code behind to perform additional edits. I added the "ErrorMessage" LiteralControl. How do I access it from the code behind or is there a preffered way to display a custom message using the control's functionality?
I have recently moved our ASP.NET session state from InProc to a Sql Server solution. I can see session data being inserted into the Sql Server database. I'm monitoring the w3wp.exe process using the "Private bytes" & "# Bytes in all heaps" performance counters. As I navigate through the website it places data into session, however the private bytes counter still climbs on the server hosting the website? I thought the session data was being written to the database and not being stored in memory? The managed bytes remain constant, and I'm pretty sure all the objects going into the session are managed types.
View 1 RepliesI've inherited some code (not mine- I swear!) which uses a session variable in the header of the HTML to determine which javascript file to link to.i.e.
<SCRIPT language="javascript" src="../JavaScript/<%=Session("jsFileName")%>.js"></SCRIPT>
It does work, except that it won't let me change to design view. It gives the message
"Could not open in design view. Quote Values differently inside a '<%... "value" ...%>' block."
Anyone got any suggestions as to a workaround, that doesn't involve a huge rewrite.
I'm receiving the following error in DesignMode with the Accordion1 control. Not sure what is causing this. View 3 RepliesI have the attached database design.
The database has been designed for a tradesman web site, i.e. Plumbers, Builders etc. The two main tables are tblCustomer and tblTrader which will stored data from two frontend web pages where the customer and trader can enter their personal details. After a customer enters their personal details (i.e. registers through the site) they will then be directed to a child page where they can progress to entering a specific job attached to a specific trade (i.e. Plumber) and trade type (i.e. Bathroom Installation), once a customer job has been entered I want these details to be emailed to all the trader_email addresses from tblTrader, from this email alert the traders will then enter the system and offer quotes to the customer through tblTraderQuote where the customer will then accept the best quote for them.
What I also want to implement is some sort of rating option that will allow the customer to rate their trader, either something like ebay's feedback or just a simple 1-5 rating option? How can I implement this into my database design or is this something that should be performed within the programming layer?
I have a aspxtextbox and its validated from database. If text exists in database then it shows message Username exist. Now this is all happens on click of a aspxbutton after typing some text into aspxtextbox.I just want that when user defocus the textbox then it will automatically check from database and shows the message if exists.

View 3 RepliesI want to design a database of chemical material. As every body knows that the chemical material has more than 20 variety of features such as color, molecular weight, temperature, pressure,pH, etc. I learn that all of features was designed into description item in some database, but I think it is not an easy way to research. As a good SEO principle,I expect material can be searched by many items, could you tell me how i improve that design,

I've just finished my database design and now i'm going to start implementing it in SQL Server 2008. Since i'm creating an ASP.NET Web Application i would like to use Membership Provider to manage user access to the application. In other projects (more simpler) i used Membership but always with its default parameters.
In this recent application i need to use custom user data for it to work properly.
So, what i would like to know is, how can i use my 'Users' table in my DB with .NET Membership Provider?
how to design following small webproject and database .i am totally new in this area.
I need to quickly develop a system so that everyone can access the status of the job going online into the system
Activities
Move the job between work centers when it's completed.
Transfer button. So when design is done we should be able to click the transfer button and move the job from Design to Procurement
Here are the work centers.
plan cerement TST Shipped Each work center should have due dates User will have to update manually due date for each work center and this will be different for each job.
Im new to database design and I would like to know what is the best way to design a tagging system such as the one that stackoverflow has?
I found multiple ways to design such a system on the web, but not sure which one is the most optimal.
I have a ordinary Category/Product database relationship Design structure.
Now i wish to add a sub category to this architecture.
for example, Cloths Category needs to be sub divided - Women,Men,Children categories. Also what about other Ctegories such as: Car,this also has sub divisions: Model,Type.
My Products table contains ProductName field together with generic field for Size,Colour and Price fields.
How do you therefore incorporate this sub division into the existing Category/Product relationship model and is there a model example?
In my web application I want to log certain user interactions etc, like "User ABC joined Group XYZ" Therefore I want to set up a logging mechanism that logs into a Mssql database. I'm now trying to find a good database design to achieve flexibility.
First of all, I don't want to log strings like "User ABC joined Group XYZ". I'd like to separate the content "ABC" and "XYZ" from the template. So I'm looking for a templated logging database.
Something like this:
table: UserLog
IDLog int primary key [code]......
I think this database structure would give me enough flexibility to add/remove/edit specific log types (like 'User ABC did something else'). For example I might want to add some information to a specific log entry for future entries. Therefore I create a new UserLogTemplate that references the same UserLogType. That is how I would achieve downward compatibility.
Is that a database design that will work?
I am building a page that displays a product's details, with the information being called from an MSSQL database.I would like to be able to have a variable number of features listed for each product, so for example, Product A has a list of 3 features, Product B has a list of 7 features, Product C has 2 features listed etc.I would like to avoid having a lot of NULLS in my database, and would prefer not to restrict the number of possible features listed. Is there a common way to tackle this problem? Is it simply a case of setting up a table just to store features?
View 2 RepliesI'm in the process of re-writing an existing survey application that is currently using nested repeater controls to display questions and answers. The application was not designed with future enhancements in mind and its a pain any time a new question has to be added to the application. The repeaters currently contain questions, answers, and controls(texbox, radiobuttonlist, etc.)
Is the repeater the correct control to use for this type of application? What is the best way to design this type of application and table structure? Are there any new controls or features in VS2010? How to design this application the correct way and make it more flexible?

I'm trying to design a map with co-ordinates that's driven from data in a database. I want it to look something like this:
Also, the selected X/Y co-ordinate must be centered for the user to see. How could I produce something like this?
I'm looking to create a survey with a Radio Button List and a submit button and then I want to store the result in a database. Not sure how to do design the database columns or handle the click event to write the survey answer to a database.
