Web Forms :: Designing Home Page With Good Format?
Sep 24, 2010
I am having a website with header only as a masterpage. I need to design a Home page which contains again header and below to this I need to display the content about the website. Please provide me any good looking home page.
I need to display only text in home page but that should be in a good looking format.
in ASP.NET application, how to design the pages in such a way that they are displayed properly in both IE6 and IE8 browsers? I would like to minimise the CSS work that I need to do if there are any general guidelines to follow which will work in both browsers. I may still need to tweak here and there, but I want to reduce bulk of the work.
I have a single web page with master detail form/input layout. Currently the form works in a way like
User opens the page containing both master/detail data entry controls and enters the master information (The details save button is disabled)When he saves the master information, the save master button gets disabled and save details is enabled User continues to enter multiple details which get populated in a gridview at the bottom of page All works well Problem is that, the master part contains a lot of data entry controls (drop down lists gridviews etc)
How do I facilitate the user much more then the current layout? Should he be redirected to a new page after he enters the master record ? How can I improve on this?
I am designing a content aspx page in dreamweaver but when when I run it in Visual Studio, the codes inserted by DW makes error. I used a AP Div then all errors appear. What should I do.:Here's me aspx:
[Code]....
I've tried to put the style tag inside the content tag but it is also not allowed. Can someone help me?. I need to design my created aspx page.
I spent the better part of today hunting down an elusive error. I was getting a message saying that it couldn't find the Index view for the Home controller, and it gave a list of locations it searched, e.g., ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx. This was really confusing as the file definitely existing and was at ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx, the first place in the list of locations it searched for the view!
What I eventually discovered was that there was a file that did not get published when I used Visual Studio's "Publish" feature (this is on the "Build" menu). That file was Views/Home/Home.master, and (as you can probably guess) is the master file used by Views/Home/Index.aspx. Once I copied that file into place manually, it started working. But I am left wondering--why??? Why does this file not get published? It's a part of my project, I can see it in the solution explorer, and it's obviously a critical file that's necessary for the MVC app to run. It has the same permissions as every other file in my project. So why wouldn't it get copied? And how can I fix it so it does get copied?
I need to design a site map page of my website in asp.net. I am confuse whether to use custom site map and retrieve information from database or direct retrieve information from database and bind it to hyperlink?
Currently whenever a client wants a website I provide my own CMS however I have been wondering whether a 3rd party CMS may be easier. At the moment I have built it in ASP.Net & ASP.Net MVC (I'm thinking of moving to Ruby on Rails). A master page has 5 pagecontent areas, top, left, middle, right & footer.I then create usercontrols such as Image_Top, Image_Left etc. In the CMS the user can create a page and then choose how they want that page to look by choosing from the list of usercontrols. This gives them complete control over their page. Would you say this is a good approach or is there a better way to allow them to design their pages? I was thinking of instead of maintaining my CMS I would recommend using Joomla, Drupal, DNN, SiteInfinty or whatever to manage the backend. However do 3rd party CMS's allow for that much control or am I better off sticking to my own CMS? Is using a 3rd party CMS as easy as plug and play?
I am having a small doubt. Suppose i am in some xyz.aspx page there i clicked log out button and the form redirects to login page. When i login again the page is redirecting to the sme page form where i logged out. But i need to display home page how can i do this.
I tried to view ads in my home page to present each ad admin add it in new label for example like this I have 3 ads now, and I want to add new one and preview it in that page above old ads,is there any way to do that without using grid view ?
What should be the approach while designing when you know that your page would take considerable time to load? e.g. if it has controls which are heavy & some which are lighter? Can we make use of any of the design patterns to solve this issue?
I have seen in so many sites on the home page there is a search option and after searching any word of the website it displays and in w3schools it navates to goolge with his reference.
How to write a code for the same and which control we should use.
I have a Asp.Net application eg its name is ABC and I have a server eg whose name is XYZ, where the application is hosted from. The default page for the application is Home.aspx.Now the requirement is I want Home.aspx to open automatically when the server name is typed in the URL. Currently for accessing the Home page I writehttp://XYX/ABC/Home.aspx but I want Home.aspx to open if I writettp://XYZCan anyone suggest how I can achieve this. I have one solution that is making a HTML page as default in IIS and then redirecting it to the respective link.
I'm working with an external team with our website and they recently added one of my scripts to the .NET MasterPage of the site... well it did finally get my script running but now... it loads Banners on 'every' page on the site.
How can I write an 'if' statement that basically says... if this is the home page... run this script... if not don't...?
I'm populating my nodes from SQL 2008. My Defauld.aspx is also devided into frames. leftmenu is frame on left. topframe is frame on top and mainframe is frame right center. In my leftmenu frame LeftMenu.aspx display a SQL populated treeview. if I click on the child node it opens Home.aspx in the Main Frame. This is pretty straight forward. My problem is that i can't get the value of that populated node over to a textbox on my Home.aspx page that is displayed in the mainframe on the right. My code is as follows:
void PopulateSubModule(TreeNode node) { SqlCommand sqlQuery = new SqlCommand("Select * From SubModule " + " Where ModuleID = @ModuleID"); sqlQuery.Parameters.Add("@ModuleID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = node.Value; [code]....
My requirement is, I have one text box and that text box accepts US Format 10 digit phone number like 555-555-5555. I want when user enter 5555555555 it automatically convert this in 555-555-5555 and if he enter some wrong number then show him error and if dont want to enter any thing then there should not be any error.
<th style="width: 150px">Home Telephone </th> <td> <asp:TextBox ID="txtHome" runat="server" MaxLength="12" ValidationGroup="vUserDetailsB" Width="252px" CssClass="txtBox" TabIndex="19"></asp:TextBox> <cc1:MaskedEditExtender ID="meeHome" runat="server" TargetControlID="txtHome" AutoComplete="false" MaskType="None" Mask="999-999-9999" ClearMaskOnLostFocus="true" InputDirection="LeftToRight" /> <%-- <cc1:MaskedEditValidator ID="mevHome" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtHome" EmptyValueMessage="Telephone Number is required." ValidationGroup="vUserDetailsB" ControlExtender="meeHome" InvalidValueMessage="Valid Telephone Number is required." IsValidEmpty="false" ValidationExpression="^d{3}-d{3}-d{4}$" Font-Size="8pt" />--%> <asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="revHome" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtHome" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Invalid Home number. Number should be in the format: 555-123-4567" Font-Size="8pt" SetFocusOnError="True" ValidationExpression="d{3}-d{3}-d{4}" ValidationGroup="vUserDetailsB" Width="100%" meta:resourcekey="txtHomeResource1"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator> </td>
Whats happenening, If i entered any thing like 5555555555 and it is coverting to this 555-555-5555 format which is correct and then when i moved to another textbox it is throwing error "Invalid Home number. Number should be in the format: 555-123-4567" and this format changes to 5555555555 and its not going ahead.

Why is it that I can run my website in vs 2005 and bs 2008 but it won't work on this live hosting site? I'm told there is a invalid character right where my connection string begins.
This is madness. I have never had this issue before. I looked at my web.config in internet exploer. IE has an add on to validate xml. It gives the error message:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/zlinkexchange/web.config'. Line 55, Po... <add name="sqlConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=Linkexchanger;Integrated Sec..
Anyone have some connection strings that work? I followed the example on Arvixe hosting website but it doesn't work...
