After I developed the system by usin vs2008 , my supervisor asked me to develop form in the interface  so they can enter information about projects as(project code, project title, country, sector, year) to the database with out dealing with the database in the  backend .. so how can i develop it because i am still new to the vs.
I am a .NET / C# back end guy. I am working on a app that will have about 200 different data entry screens. For me exposing DTO as a collection for CRUD (IUpdatable and IQueryable) is the easy part, I can do it in my sleep :-). What I am trying to decide is what type of front end technology will allow me to develop these data entry screens fast. They don't have to be fancy but they are not just plain grid either and on average they have about 15 form fields and some client side data validation (no db look up) Options I am looking at are
Use ExtJS on the front and REST / JSON on the back. ASP.NET RIA but I do not know SL (Well XAML) Plain ASP.NET / MVC One idea I had was the DTO will contain the meta data about the form (As Attributes) and the form can be dynamically generated, but I do not want to reinvent the wheel if there is an easier way. I have looked at RAD software but all of them look at the DB and generate screens. I'd rather want something that can look at my DTO and generate screens.
The problem: I have a data entry form. I would like to save the data without page roundtrip or UpdatePanels. The solution: - the 'Save' button calls a javascript function which serialize all the fields content (client side)- the javascript function calls a web method (server side)- the web method deserialize the data and save it to the database.
While converting a desktop application to a web app, I've run across my ignorance when attempting to implement a multi-column data entry form using CSS. I'm resolved to avoid using tables for this type of thing, and while I found a good reference to laying out a data entry form, I can find nothing that applies to multiple-column layouts like this one:
I am a student with non IT back ground. I got a request from my client to develop a simple form with 10 data elements and store it in oracle table.I have to use ASP.net to develop this application.
I have a form written in C# with a SQL database to hold the data. At the end of the form, there is a DropDownList control that is blank upon the initial entry. If a user selects anything in that drop down box, upon saving the form, a new form with the same format will be created and the last form will be locked for editing. I have no idea on how to implement this or how to start on this.I'm kinda new to ASP.NET so bare with me please.
I am writing an application that collects Customer Complaints and stores them into a database. I want to keep it simple so that the Managers without much web knowledge can use it. This is how my Entry Form works. The Manager selects the name and id of the staff by choosing a location. This loads ids and names of the Staff in that location from the database. Then the Manager rates the complaint based on the severity and enters the comments. I was able to use Session objects to get all these values from the Entry page to the Confirmation page so the Managers can check again. This is where it gets tricky. If there is a correction they have to make by trying to go back to the Entry page, the values are lost (esp. Drop-down ones).
I need a develop a smart dropdown list for an inhouse application
Let assume, i have a dropdownlist with the following values:
ABC EDF XYZ A123 B456
Now when the user types A in the drpdownlist (we can type anything onthe dropdownlist, but we can superimpose a textbox on it), the dropdwn list should sort itself and show only ABC and A123.
I want to develop a utility where user will insert new Records and also the same application should work if user is not connected with internet. When user wants to submit records only that time he required to connect internet.
We have created one sample application using excel where we use Dropdown, Textbox, Label.User will download excel file from website and filled up details. When user wants to submit all details only that time internet is required. Application will insert value from excel file to server using WebServices when user click on submit button.
Above is working file but it's increasing our work because we are creating website and also Excel project (Almost double work). I want something where we can utilize the code for online and offline application.
I have several text boxes in an ASP.NET Web Form. I want to ensure that users are not entering HTML into those text boxes. However, I'm not sure how to prevent HTML from being entered. Because of this, I decided that I want to only allow alphanumeric characters, spaces, exclamation point, sharp sign, dollar signs, percentage signs, carets, stars, and left and right parenthesis. I'm omitting the ampersand because I do not want them entering something like "<script&rt;..."
I have 2 dropdowns on my page, i can select from both and complete the other text fields on my form and click my button to submit. But when i receive the email, i get everything from the form, except that the drop down values are coming across as the default value of "0"
Here is my dropdownlist code i have on my page_load to bind them with data when they arrive at the page.
[Code]....
And for the email portion, i am using the selectedvalue as seen below. Thats all i have on the page.. very simple, but only the drop downs are not passing in the email.
ddlCategory.SelectedValue.ToString() and ddlPriority.SelectedValue.ToString()
If I have a large amount of fields/data on the Form, what's the strategy to organize or break them down within Form? or There is other approach to develop rich experience form submission.
I've got my validation wired up through my Service layer, and my Birthdate property looks like this.
[Code]....
The client side validation works properly if I input something like `12/12/1990` but when the form is submitted, the server side validation trips and I'm told the entry is invalid. I'm using the jQuery-UI Datepicker to input the date, however when I disable the datepicker, the problem persists.Am I missing something here? I thought the client side and server side would be the same thing. If I remove
[Code]....
Then the form submits. It's obviously something to do with the Regex.
I am developing a web application for mortgage business related data (not mortgage calculation)in C#.( My job is to convert a classic asp app ..so workflow is already there. )Suggest sample application from where i can read and follow structure . It should have tabbed panes, user creation with different level of rights, complex web forms taking lots of input and using ajax.(even a bit of LINQ....as demanded by management!!) I found Nopcommerce interface very good. something similar but smaller in size. My ASP.net webforms knowledge is beginner to intermediate level.
I am developing a CMS application. Its a very huge deep and with full of configurable features. Current, I am developing it using Asp.net C#, form authentication and by creating UserControls.
There are lot of configurable items need to decide at run time as per user roles and some rules are predefined and some will be defined by Admin at runtime. The all information is stored in DB. I am getting lot of issues with USerControls. I consulted with some other guys who told my approach is wrong, I should go through DB data fetching. I really don't understand what is it? It is something like my all pages will be stores in Database and will construct at runtime and display as per rights?
i am so much eager to develop the multilingual application. But i don't know how to start. how to create the application can i know what is the process to create the application. other wise give me a simple example.
I have develop lots of web aplication including web-site with paypal integration and now I want to develop scrapping in asp.net. Any one has knowledge about what is scrapping and how it is implemented in asp.net. I am new to this scrapping.
I'm starting to learning some asp.net so I'm looking for an application to develop asp.net using a mac. I know dreamweaver can be used to write asp.net but I don't have any application to run a test server. ondering what my options are regarding developing and testing (not on a live server) using a mac.
I am wanting to from now on create a backdoor entry for every web application I build so that if need be I can shut it down.I had a nasty recent experience of a client not paying the bill, however the application was on his server, so when I used my backdoor access to alter a hidden record in one of my database tables to stop it from running, they had full control of the server and were able to look through ther SQL log and see what queries had been run at that time and then alter the record and prevent access to the table...
The only way I can think of that will be full-proof no matter where application is (providing there is web access), is to have ONE webservice running on my server with all apps listed, with a secure interface and the ability for me to turn off any application. Then every day, once a day, each of my client's applications (no matter which server they are on) communicates with this web service to see if it is allowed to run by referencing a GUID. This once a day check would be compiled into the main app DLL.
i am a c# dot net developer. i am given task to build a Pos application in c# for a grocery shop. i have no idea to develop it, please provide me if there is a tutorial, any class diagram or open source project
