Web Forms :: Directory Listing Without Showing File Extension?

Nov 1, 2010

I've seen various tutorials and scripts online which show how to create a directory tree which list the file name, size etc.My question is, I need a script that is basically a normal directory listing but it doesn't show the file extension. If anyone can even point me in the right direction it'd be of much help!

Installation :: Development To Web Movement: Directory Listing Denied - This Virtual Directory Does Not Allow Contents To Be Listed

Oct 27, 2010

I made a web form on a development website of mine (we'll call it dev.somewhere.com) and tried to publish it out to the web (we'll call it [URL]) in a subfolder. I named it default.aspx like I was supposed to and it worked flawlessly on the dev site. When I published it out the web, I wound up getting the following error when trying to get to the subfolder: [URL] Directory Listing Denied

This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. Confused and flustered, I tried to go to [URL], but I wound up with some error that won't tell me the problem. Instead it tells me to change the my web.config to read <customErrors mode="Off"/>.

Web Forms :: Listing Files Inside A Directory, Iis7 Forcing 404?

Nov 3, 2010

I have some issues regarding listing images from inside a directory. What I want to do is to create a Default.aspx page that will search and list the images located inside a folder of my website (where I simply drop them in it). I tried with a treeview, DirectoryInfo and both worked when I compiled my website with visual studio, but when I access them via another computer, I get a 404 for the page. My bet is that iis7 is blocking my code from accessing the folder containing the images. Any idea of how to fix this and make it work ?the code I use to browse in my image folder

string path = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory;
DirectoryInfo diFiles = new DirectoryInfo(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory + @"contentmiscimages");
foreach (var f in diFiles.GetFiles("*.jpg"))
{
Lit.Text += "<a href="" + f + ""rel="lightbox[img]" title=" + f + ">" + f + "</a>" + "<br />"; //I format the image as an url inside a literal
}

I've just started developing a web site in VS 2008. When I try and view the page (click 'start debugging') an IE window pops up displaying a directory listing of all the files in my web application directory rather than my masterpage or content. Why is this and how can I correct it?

Browser Displaying "Directory Listing -- /"?

Dec 20, 2010

I'm developing the most simple ASP.NET application which is giving me an annoying error.

I'm having a textbox- and a button-control, where I would like the text in the textbox to be saved to a database table when clicking the button. The text will be propagated to the database by means of a WCF service.

Since I'm a rather mediocre programmer, I tend to get errors now and then which results in lots of error messages displayed in the browser. That I can understand. I fix them and build my solution and press F5 to get going. But after fixing the errors, everytime the browser displays a directory listening like the one below instead of my astonishing UI.

Version Information: ASP.NET
Development Server 10.0.0.0

I know how to work around but its tedious: in MainForm.aspx.cs I comment the rows concerning the call to the service, then I rebuild the solution, uncomment the call to the service and rebuild the solution again. Then everything works as expected till I ran into the next bug.

Security :: File Listing And Session Modification?

Oct 18, 2010

I have started to get confused with the setting and security issues of asp.net. Hope someone could answer me. Problem 1: I am curious why we have to encrypt connection string, appsetting and more in the web.config file even though file listing is set to "not allowed" on server setting. Does it mean some strangers can still view and steal such file from server? Problem 2: I know that session id is sort of protected but could
hacker be able to change the information inside ? Let say hacker browser my webpage and some data are stored in the session cookies, could they change the information inside the session cookies?

Web Forms :: File Extension Validation In FileUpload Control?

Jun 23, 2010

Actually i am using JavaScript validation for Image or Word or Excel File & its working perfectly. My aim is making its full professional.

For Example When you use Photoshop and open any file you see only those extension which are applicable for Photoshop i.e. jpg, jpeg bmp, psd, png etc. You never see .doc, .xls or any other which are not open with Photoshop. This is i want to do, When i open for an Image it should show only Image Type file extension in file type By default its its showing All Files, As i use extension validation in JavaScript, it never accept .doc or .xls files in Image Type Validation but it will show. I want only that file type show for which i open.

Web Forms :: Save The File Name With The Extension Alone In Table (without The Full Path)?

Apr 30, 2010

am a newbie to programming so please bare with me!I introduced a file upload control on one of my pages. There is a button click event for the upload which triggers not only the upload but also an insert into a table in my database.Every aspect of the button click event for this upload is working as expected; however I do have a couple of queries because the results are not quite as I would like them. I am using asp.net 3.5 and C# in code behind page.

I have a simple table with 3 columns in my database: Username, PhotoTitle and PhotoUrl. In the button click event I grab the PhotoUrl like such -string photoUrl = FileUpload1.PostedFile.Filename; (I am using the photo url from my images folder in the application to show photos in Gridviews etc. I prefer this to storing the actual image in the database for the moment until i am a bit more experienced since i don't know much about varbinary dbtype.). When the button is clicked for the upload, the details of the photo are saved in the database table, but it's the full path of the file on my laptop which is store (C:/Documents/.../filename.jpg) opposed to "Filename.jpg" for example, which i obviously would prefer because in the application photos are displayed using the"~/images/Filename.jpg" path. How can I save the file name with the extension alone in my table (without the full path)?

The second problem is basically regarding the actual photos being uploaded. They are"saved as" inside folder for the solution as anticipated, but only on the laptop harddrive, which means that I have to manually drag each photo uploaded into the images folder within Solution Explorer, from a Windows Explorer window, in order to be able to display them in Gridviews etc (with the "~/images/Filename.jpg" call in the .aspx code). This is not acceptable of course since the site users would expect to see their photo after the upload, and they would not be able to drag the file into the ~/images/ folder. How can I get round this second slight problem; i.e. is there a way to upload photos directly in the folder so that they show directly on the solution explorer?I hope my explanations of those two little problems I have didn't confuse you all?

Data Controls :: File Type And Extension Validation For Multiple File Upload Controls Using Custom Validator

May 7, 2015

I was referring muddasar's one of the article for the validation. Below is my code and i am trying to validate the file upload selected file format on the submit button. I have 4 upload control and  fu1 is mandatory field and others are not mandatory fields. Though i need to validate all the four uploads if the files have been selected. My full sample code is below for easy testing,

<asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="fu1" />
<asp:Label ID="lblMessage1" runat="server"></asp:Label>
<asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="fu2" />
<asp:Label ID="lblMessage2" runat="server"></asp:Label>

[code]...

I am doing slight mistake on the return to the main function. if i test indvidual function it works fine. whereas if i include the 4 functions in one function  with the return statement, it's not validating. goes to to the server.
