Web Forms :: Display Content On Page Based On Column In Database?
Jan 7, 2011
i am using MSSQL Server 2005 with VB in my codebehind. I have an application that I have written as a time tracking system that uses SQL Membership provider to secure the site with forms authentication. I want to add additional functionality to the site. My company has a intranet SharePoint site. I want to add something on the front page of the SharePoint site that will allow the users to clock-in/out without having to login to the application. I have a users table that is not part of the SQL Membership Provider that holds detailed information about the employees. There is a column in that table that identifies users as being able to use the clock-in system. I want to be able to display a clock-in/out button on the paged based on that column. Not all users have the ability to clock-in as their time does not need to be tracked.
My site is going to display content based on a city. So, if a user comes directly to my site, I am going to default them to say for instance:
www.mysite.com/cincinnati
I need to be able to handle two scenarios here. One, when they come directly to my site ('/'), I need to somehow redirect to my default city and 2, show an error page if they type in an invalid city. Any thoughts? I saw the route constraint, but how do you deal with invalid scenarios like showing an error page when the constraint fails?
I have an employee list in MSSQL. I have an online punch clock. In the DB there is a column called punch_clock. I would like to redirect a user to a different page if there is a 0 in this column. I have the code below so far. Not sure where to go from here.
I have these 4 images along with the descriptions:
Flag Description
Green Flag (WBGTI of 80 to 84.9 degrees F): Heavy exercises, for unacclimatized personnel, will be conducted with caution and under constant supervision.
Yellow Flag (WBGTI of 85 to 87.9 degrees F): Strenuous exercises or physical labor will be curtailed for unacclimatized, newly assigned personnel in their first 3 weeks. Avoid outdoor classes or work in the sun.
Red Flag (WBGTI of 88 to 89 degrees F): All PT or very strenuous work will be curtailed for those not thoroughly acclimatized by at least 3 weeks. Personnel not thoroughly acclimatized may carry on limited activity not to exceed 6 hours per day.
Black Flag (WBGTI of 90 and above degrees F): All nonessential physical activity will be halted.
1 page to set the flag condition and another page to display the flag and the description. I am new to coding and Im not sure how to do it. I do have MSSQL Server 2005 that I can use to store the data.
I have created a backend that allows me to update my site content. I am using fckeditor to pull the data from my table in the database. The problem I am having is this: i need to create paging of content so that when the height restriction is met a next btn or numbering system displays to allow the user to click to the next page of content.
I have a online game (written in ASP) which i have finally decided to convert to ASP.NET. However i cannot seem to link the login ID's of users to their specific details in the database. I.E when Joe Bloggs logs in, he will be shown the team information for just his club, not every club. in ASP I use code similar to this below
[Code]....
im not convinced that is the right syntax to be using, but when i execute the code in Query Builder it is showing me the correct data (that i expect to see). So im wondering if there is something else im missing? Is there something extra that i need to be adding in Web.Config file or elsewhere?
My Master Page has a heading with tabs. The code looks something like:
<CT:Tab ID="tabHome" runat="server" Url="/index.aspx" Text = "Home" Highlight="true" /> <CT:Tab ID="tabFun" runat="server" Url="/fun.html" Text = "Fun"/> <CT:Tab ID="tabBlog" runat="server" Url="/blog" Text = "Blog"/>
I can think of two ways to control which tab is highlighted from within a user control:Have the user control implement an interface. The master page can decide which tab to highlight based on which interface is implemented, or based on a method in the interface that returns a string. In the Page_Load (or Page_Init) function, tell the master page (via FindControl or via a function in the Master Page) which control to highlight.I don't really like either of these solutions. Is there a clean way I could control which tab is highlighted from the control at design time (i.e., in the aspx file)?
in my asp.net_vb web there is a text box (textbox1) in which a date is dispalyed from database (eg 21-Mar-2012) in another text box (textbox2) i want to display
if the date is less than 30 Jun then the textbox2 should display 1 Jul+the year of textbox1
if the textbox1 date is greater than 30 Jun the text box2 should display 1 Dec + the year of textbox1
Like iPhone Safari Browser or Firefox (Ctrl + Scrolling), I need intelligent scaling where not only Divs but also font-size and images are scaled based on the viewable area of the screen.
Been browsing these pages for a while now and finally decided to say hi!I read about having an "Application controller" as mustinherit class for the actual controller to set content for the master page. But what I would like to do is to set some content to Master based on which actions are called on the controller.
For example.. /Backend/A1 ... "Help content nr1 to master page" /Backend/A3 /Backend/B1 ... "Help content nr2 to master page" /Backend/B10
And so forth. Ofcourse I could do this the "easy" way by just adding some clip on each of the actions. But I was wondering if there is a smarter way to do it. To check on the application controller which action is being called and select the "helpcontent" based on that to the Master.
would like to present users with unique content based on certain conditions being met as they land on the home page (default.aspx). The condition logic will be in the VB code behind Page Load event. The content will go in a content placeholder as specificed from the master page. However, the content change wouldn't be something small (ie making a panel or label visible or not) but rather it will be different HTML, Divs and databound gridview content. The HTML content will be stored in the database.
I am really new at this. I have a site that I would like to display a certain image (a colored flag) based on an entry in the database. I have a folder called flag_images, I'm using VB, and MSSQL Server 2005. I have never done anything like this. There are 4 images total. They are green.gif, yellow.gif, red.gif, and black.gif. The database table is called tblflag. There are three columns. ID (int), time_set (datetime), and flag_color (nvarchar).
I would like to display the green flag if the column flag_color is equal to green and so on for the other colors. Only one flag will be displayed at a time.
Now what I want to achieve is, when user clicks IsComplete checkbox, she must enter the date of completion. So, I want a validation (client side) on DateOfCompletion if the checkbox is selected (checked). And, I also want to use Validator Callout Extender if possible.
I have a page for a client that currently is setup to display a gridview for each subcategory. They recently added a new subcategory and they were wondering why it wasnt showing up on the page. Well the way i have it setup, i have to create the gridview adn datasource for the new subcategory.
Is there a way to setup the page to display a gridview view for each subcategory so if they decide to add another, i dont have to update the page with a new gridview adn configure it? I would like to be able to update what i have and provide a more flexible setup for them.
keeping i mind that each gridview would contain different result sets, is this possible? if so, what controls would i use?
i want to display already stored text content (sql server) into asp.net webpage at table format
Now i want to display at table.. alternatively, i want table for gridview. already view at this format. it is gridview..

Can some assist me with a great sight really explaining multiple contentplaceholders in the masterpage. I having issues, only one of my content holders display when runing the master page. below you will see the content 4 "Example", its not displaying can someone assist me.
insert data to database from a content page of a master page. My code is working fine when i use my code without master page but with content page of master page i dnt knw what goes wrong.
there's a label control on the master page..if its value is "Value1" ,I want this CSS Sprite to display on my webform..if the Value is "Value2"..the CSS sprite should use some different image..just the image needs to be changed ..nothing else in that Sprite..
I found out that I can use "FindControl" method to find out what value that Label Control of Master Page's currently got..
Now how do I change that image on the banner ?? How do I go about it ? Also that CSS Sprite now is a user control named "myBanner.ascx"(earlier was an aspx file)..Now do I need to make 2 diff usercontrols or I can implement some logic in one usercontrol itself ?
Should I make 2 copies of this "myBanner.ascx" with JUST the "image name" changed in its CSS ?
What I want is ONE banner which has been made using CSS Sprite ..Now if the "Label Control's "value in the master page is "Value1" then the image to be used on that banner is "IMAGE1" else if "Label Control's" value is "Value2" then "IMAGE2" should be used in that sprite..
The master page lies in Root/MasterPages/masterpage.master
Now this image is displayed in a content page which is in Root/SomeDir/ContentPage.aspx, but it doesn't work in a content page which is in Root/SomeDir1/SomeDir2/ContentPage.aspx. Why?
