Oct 4, 2010I have a dropdown list in a gridview field. The DataValueField for the ddl is an 8 digit item code. The text to display through will be quite longer, 40-60 characters because it will combine the item code and item name into a single string. I don't want the dropdownlist field to be that wide though, only what is displayed when the ddl is selected.In Access you can set the width property of the list to display wider than the field itself. Is there that capability in ASP.NET and if so where do I find it?

However when i use textbox in administrative site to input the news into db--The Textbox takes the paragraph style and displays it. However i don;t want to use Textbox to display my news. Is there any solution to display the news with the paragraph style and so on? The containing component is Datalist and this is my below code.

i placed it inside the panel and added scrol bars to it. it looks ok when debuggin i.e looks ok in internet explorer but in design mode it ruins the page design.

Nov 28, 2010I want to display a GridView with 3 Columns: a Name, a Score, and a sort-of-ProgressBar reflecting the score. So far, I haven't been able to display the 'ProgressBar' correctly.
I placed a asp:Label inside a asp:Label [URL]. Visually, this looks nice, but the 'ProgessBar' is rigth now 50% for every row. For every row, the width of the lblProgressBar has to be the value of Score, but I can't get this to work.

I have set the width of the gridview and all the columns to a % and then to a number of pixels but it does work. The gridview always sets itself to a width required to display all fields and it goes beyond the resolution of the screen. I would like to contain it to 1024 pixels.

Jan 27, 2011I am going to change an image, based on the incoming URL. So lets say, I have an image control named "specialImg", and 5 images I want to load based on the incoming URL.
Using C#, how do I accomplish the following?
User clicks a link and the URL is categoryproduct1, and when the page loades, I want this "specialImg" control to show the product1 image (it would read in the incoming URL and based on the name, change the image). If the user then goes to categoryproduct2, when the page loads, I want the "specialImg" control to display product2 image.. and so on.
I set the image control to runat="server", I guess I need to find out how to reference it by C# on page load.
Javascript - Unable To Print The Full Content Of Page When Horizontal Scroll Bar Appears
Mar 4, 2011I need to print the current page in the asp.net application for that I am using javascript:window.print().
It's working fine when the page content is within the bounds. However, if the horizontal scrollbar appears as a result of overflow, am able to print only the visible content while the overflown contents couldn't be printed.
Is there any workaround to get this working? Is there any other alternative apart from javascript to achieve this functionality?

Sep 22, 2010I have a master page with a textbox that I want to use for a search, and display the results on the content page.
I've dragged in the datasource to the content page, and configured the formview to use that datasource... almost.
The issue I'm having is that on the last step of the configure datasource wizard where you select the parameters, I want to select the master page textbox control for the search parameter... but of course it's not available in the list. The list only allows me to choose controls from the content page.
How do I set this master page search box as the parameter for my datasource?

I have an application that I have written as a time tracking system that uses SQL Membership provider to secure the site with forms authentication. I want to add additional functionality to the site. My company has a intranet SharePoint site. I want to add something on the front page of the SharePoint site that will allow the users to clock-in/out without having to login to the application. I have a users table that is not part of the SQL Membership Provider that holds detailed information about the employees. There is a column in that table that identifies users as being able to use the clock-in system. I want to be able to display a clock-in/out button on the paged based on that column. Not all users have the ability to clock-in as their time does not need to be tracked.
