Sep 28, 2010I'm creating an quiz application which queries the database and extracts the questions and choices. I use dynamically created controls such as a checkbox list and fill the values dynamically. How do I do this? Right now I have these functions:
array_random_init(); this creates a 10 element integer array from 1-20 - extract_question(i): this extracts a question indexed at i in DB, I created the controls and set the appropriate text in this function. - validate_question(i); this is called by button_click and validates the question i according to DB.
I understand I have to recreate the controls in Page_init on postback, but what should it look like? Do I need to add "if IsPostBack" in page_init, or do I create the controls in page_init() and reset their properties in page_load when I use extract_question(i)? Also, I cannot seem to clear the selected boxes on postback, I added page directive "enableviewstate=false" but it doesn't work.

Feb 14, 2011I have a website that sales associates access to view account information with clients. S.A's can only view information for accounts that they are tied to. Some clients have more than one account, S.A's can be tied to more than one account, but not all accounts of one client need to be tied to one S.A.
On the account info pages, I have account numbers (dynamically displayed labels) displayed of other accounts that the account client is associated with, which the S.A's can see. I'm modding this so that if the S.A has viewing permissions of any of the other accounts on that list of accounts, that instead of a label being displayed, a button directing them to that account page will display instead. In order for this to work, I have to attach a security function to the button, otherwise the page will blow out on the S.A's.
So I'm running a piece that is displaying a button instead of a label, which is working fine. My problem is when I try to attach the security event to the dynamically displayed buttons. It seems that the page just posts back and doesn't execute my code at all.
On my Page_Load, I'm running this after the buttons and labels are displayed:

Apr 21, 2010we are working on a file download page. We want to download a file with a name with spaces and accents. Although the filename is shown correctly on the filedownload dialog, when we click open, the file name is shown with %e1%ba%a3n%20... on notepad. ('Save as' shows the correct name) This problem only happens in Internet Explorer.
Is there anyway we can Display the file name correctly (on the target application) after opening it (without saving) from file download dialog ?
We use this code to set the filename :

Mar 9, 2011I have 4 checkboxes named(Laptop, Car, Phone, TV) and a button. when user checks one Car checkbox and clicks a button, car specifications pdf should be downloaded. Similarly when phone or laptop checkbox checked, relevant pdf's should be downloaded. For this i have written following code

This code is working well in VS2008 but has issues when run in localhost.
Issue --> Check one checkbox like chkPhone and click on button, the Phone pdf gets downloaded and uncheck chkPhone checkbox and check other one like chkCar and when clicked on button to download, getting following errors.
1. xml parsing error not well-formed --> this error is getting only in mozilla.

Oct 14, 2010Ive created a Web App where it is possible to download an xml file from the server to the client. It works just fine except that the Save Dialog recognizes the file being dowloaded as of type .aspx and the name of the file as being the name of the page I' on. The page is called Download.aspx and it contains a button that when clicked executes the following code:

The save dialog appears and says:

Type: ASP.NET Server Page, 1,16KB
From: 127.0.0.1
If I download the file and open it it contains the correct Xml file content and nothing else, so it is working correctly. It just annoys me that it appears to the user that he is downloading the aspx site (and it shows up as such in windows explorer as well) rather than the xml file which is the actual content.

I want the download to start and then I want this page (which is a tab in the browser) to close.
The code to download the file works fine. I just can't figure out how to close this tab when it's finished. I've read a lot of forum posts from people who are using similar code, but none of the suggestions seem to work for me. I understand that Response.End means that I can't put any more code this page; it will be ignored. But how do I get this tab to close?

Jul 30, 2010I have a web app which displays some data in a GridView. This GridView is populated with a method called BindGrid. The user selectes one or more rows from the grid, then clicks the Process button. What needs to happen is that the selected rows are assembled into a CSV file which is downloaded to the browser, then the database is updated to reflect which rows were selected, and the grid is refreshed so the previously selected rows are no longer displayed. This all sort of works, except...
My code is below, which is very similar to lots of snippets found in this forum.
The problem is that if I uncomment Response.End(), or replace it with ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest, it all works great except none of the code after Response.End() executes, and so the log entry is not made and the grid is not refreshed.
If I comment Response.End(), as in the snippet below, the code following does run, including the log entry and the call to BindGrid. (I know that because log entries inside BindGrid are made.) However, the page does not refresh. If I press F5 to refresh the page, it redraws correctly refreshed.
So the question is, how do I refresh the page after downloading the file?
I have tried calling both Response.Redirect and Server.Transfer after BindGrid
For what it is worth, I am using IE7.

But if the file name contains a space, Mozilla Firefox use only the name up to the first white space and remaining name is truncated. as you can see, only the ibUser is clickable at the moment, and what i would like to do is to make the other three image buttons also clickable, i had added the onclick event for those 3 images, but since the tblUserCell can not add more than one ClientScript on it, so the other 3 image buttons are not clickable.

Apr 28, 2010i have some problem on downloading file which file types are .doc, .docx and .pdf.
I have wrote the code for downloading when the button is click. the button can download these three types of file when click.

But, i have some weird condition. when i test in my local pc using the firefox, the downloading box popup with the file type detected. but when i upload the code files in live server and test the download button using firefox, the downloading popup but it cannot detect the file type.
therefore, i can proceed the download process using the firefox but i failed to open the files coz it dun have the file type.
