Web Forms :: Event Handling Of Dynamically Created Combo Boxes?

Jan 18, 2010

I am creating n number of Combo boxes dynamically at run time and adding a Handler of Combo1_SelectedIndexChanged() to the combo boxes.

At run time, When I select an item from one of the Combo boxes, the event fires n times rather than 1.

So for example : If there are 5 combos created, and I select an item from my first combo, the event Combo1_SelectedIndexChanged() , fires 5 times and that is an issue for me. How can I restrict this to run only for the combo that I selected.

Web Forms :: Event Is Not Raised For Dynamically Generated Checkbox?

May 6, 2010

I have a asp.net page where we need to dynamically generate a table, table row, and a checkbox controls in this row. A button serves Add Row and create checkbox function, which works fine. We have another button which serves on deleting the selected row if a user checks the checkbox. The deleting event is dynamically added to the checkbox. But the delete button is not working at all. I think that the page does not maintain the states of dynamically generated controls, even I set Page enable view state to True. Here is the code:

I am generating a table dynamically with one row having four cells.

First cell is having checkbox and below is the code how i declare it and assign it a new id at runtime.

Dynamically Generated Radio Button Calling CheckedChanged Event

Dec 6, 2010

I have a procedure that is generating some radio buttons and assigning a CheckedChanged postback event based on the level being passed through (up to 4 levels). When the first level is checked (radio button selected) the postback event rb_CheckChanged00() is called and a check is done to see if this item has any children, if it does, it will create more radio buttons and assign rb_CheckChanged01 to the CheckChanged event for these - This part is working fine.

The issue I have is when I select the second Radio Button that has been created (the child), it doesn't seem to go to the post back event at all. The page is posting back when I click on it but everything resets because it won't go into rb_CheckChanged01.

I know this info is quite vague but I am hoping someone has an idea on how the post back event works and if I am somehow using it incorrectly.

Web Forms :: Dynamically Generated DropDownLists?

Jun 30, 2010

I have a dropdownlist on my page which has autopostback set to true. On postback I populate a runat server div with a bunch of other DropDownLists. I then have a button which does another postback to save the selections. Because the second set of dropdownlists are dynamically generated I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get their selected values?

1st DropDownList

[Code]....

Then when I try get the dropdownlists using a foreach on the div that I added the control to it does not work. They are populating fine, its just on the button click. I have tried EnableViewState = true on the dropdownlists and my code is correct because if I code them into the aspx then it works, its something to do with the state.

Web Forms :: Postback Event Handling?

Oct 5, 2010

According toMSDN[URL]Postback event handling:If the request is a postback, control event handlers are called. After that, the Validate method of all validator controls is called, which sets the IsValid property of individual validator controls and of the page."It is my understanding that the Validate method of the validtor controls is called after Load but before the control event handlers.The text quoted says its after the control event handlers.

Web Forms :: Event Handling In Framework?

For example to handle a button click we write a delegate as private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)In this function I can change the sender object value means I can do what ever I want to do with Button object.Why this is implemented in this way in Framework.Is this good to do so.

Web Forms :: Referencing Dynamically Generated Controls?

Jul 9, 2010

I'm displaying a table based on query results, and each record has a dynamically generated dropdownlist and submit button (and other controls, but this is simplified). That part works fine, but how do I reference the controls in a function? Here is the code I've tried. Create the controls:

[Code]....

Reference the control values (hopefully):

[Code]....

The function SubmitAction_Click fires when I click the Post button, so that part works. I just can't figure out how to reference the selected value of the dropdownlist. You can see that I'm explicitly giving the DDL a unique ID (DS_RecordID). I'm guessing I have to use FindControl to reference it, but I don't know how to format the code.

Web Forms :: Dynamically Generated Usercontrols And Their Values?

Feb 11, 2010

I have implemented a user control with dropdown lists and textboxes where user may choose to add more of the same user control dynamically then submit the values within all usercontrols at the same time. They way I added usercontrols dynamically is whenever user clicks "add more" button, it increases the value of "userControlAmount" in session by 1, reloads the page and during next page_load event, within an updatepanel it creates usercontrols on the fly.

However whenever more is added since all usercontrols are generated again according to the latest user control counter, the values within the dropdownlists and textboxes are getting reseted.

I can hold all values in a viewstate/session however beyond the time/effort it will take, it doesn't sounds very "professional" to me. I was wondering if there is a more efficient way of doing this.

Web Forms :: Reading Dynamically Generated Textbox Value?

May 27, 2010

I have a form that has dynamically generated textboxes using javascript.

My question is how can I read the values of these dynamically generated textboxes since I dont see any HTML in the page source for these textboxes even though they appear in the page.

I tried to read using

var str = document.getElementById('txtHello').value;

It always returns null.

txtHello is the Id which I have given to the textbox when I generated it dynamically using javascript.

Web Forms :: Get The Radiobutoomlist Selectedindex From A Dynamically Generated?

Jul 20, 2010

I've to implement dynamically generated 'Tests'. It seems the best asp control to handle each's test option is the RadioButtomList control, thus I am writting in c# code to load programatically a table, render on rows the Tests' questions, and the options via radiobtuttonlist as the code bellow shows.

THE PROBLEM's since I did not ID each radiobuttomlist, once the test's end user submit his choices, I do not know how to get the selected item for each control so I can compute the results.

Web Forms :: Client ID Of A Dynamically Generated Control?

Feb 23, 2010

I've recently added a Master Page to my site,but realized that it's caused some problems in my existing JavaScript setup.I am able to use the following code in most places without any issue to get the ClientID: '<%=myControl.ClientID%>'

The problem I have encountere is that I have several pages that add controls dynamically,and then execute events based on an ID that's passed in,where I can't use this line,because I won't know the ID of the control I'm trying to access until the Javascript executes.Here's a simplified version of the problem:

When the page runs,it creates n textboxes dynamically,and appends a relevant ID from the database to the end of the ID.Let's say the page has added 3 textboxes with the following IDs:

myTextBox1

myTextBox7

myTextBox115

Later,a javascript event fires,and I need to be able to access the control through JavaScript like this:

myJavaScriptFunction (controlID)

{
myvar = document.getElementById('myTextBox' + controlID);
}

Web Forms :: Handling Dynamically Created Tables And Autopostback Controls?

Jun 17, 2010

I just can't wrap my head over this and don't have enough time to read long articles.

I already have an HTM Table on my form. I dynamically create New Roows and Cells and keep adding them to the Table .

The cells Contain Labels, Textboxes, Drop downs and Buttons. I also add Handlers to the dropdowns

The form loads perfectly the first time. But when I change the value in a drop down, on the postback, I get a msg saying that " There are multiple controls with the same name 'txtCheckin' . How do I handle this?

Web Forms :: Handling Button Clickevent In Usercontrol That Is Being Loaded Dynamically?

Nov 2, 2010

I have ASPX page named ArtifactReporting.aspx where I have 3 linkbuttons. For each button I have 3 different UserControls to be loaded dynamically. So I have written for each click

UserControl uc = (UserControl)this.LoadControl("<ASCX page name>");
divArtifact.Controls.Add(uc);

Now in one of the ASCX page I have a server side button. When I click on the button, the content of the ascx is going off, which is correct, because the page post back is happening and in Page_Load I have not written anything that will load the ASCX page.

how to go about this? I need if I load an usercontrol dynamically, I should be let the users carryout operation that usercontrol.

Web Forms :: Dynamic Buttons With Event Handling?

Mar 1, 2010

I am not sure how to do this. I have part of it working and I think I understand why it isn't working, I just not sure what I have to do to fix it... I am dynamically placing some data into an ASP:Table from a DataSet. This is all done from the Page_Loud event. I am looping through the dataset by going through the rows no problem to display the data in cells added by rows to the asp:table.

What I am also doing though is adding a button for each row that is to run an Access insert query that adds a record in a log table.I have used the following code to get this to work which it does, most of this is called through functions in the Page_loud event. this is the gist of it:

this is in a loop of the DataSet
for (int i = 0; i < dsResult.Tables[0].Rows.Count - 1; i++)
{
Button btn = new Button();
btn.Text = strDynamicText;
intTID = dsResult.Tables[0].Rows[i].ItemArray[5].ToString();

[Code]....

Here is the problem I am having. The button does display for each row, and the query does execute and run when I press the button. The values being passed in intTID and intUserGroup (are global), are suppose to be different for each row though, and are to insert a unique table ID, and a different group depending on what is in the dataset. Problem is, it is only assigning the last tableID from the result set into the button and will always pass that same ID no matter what button is pressed. This is the same with the intUserGroup. It needs to dynamically have differnent table IDs passed but that's not happening. What do I have to do differently to make sure that when the button is created dynamically it will pass the unique values for each row?

Web Forms :: Event Handling In PreRender Vs Page_Load?

The issue is that when I populate the GridView from the Page_load the LinkButton click works, but if I move GridView polulation code in the Page_PreRender event the click event doesn't executes.

Code:

private void Page_PreRender(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
//does not fires the Click event of dynamically generated LinkButtons
GridView1.DataSource = getDataTable();
