Web Forms :: Dropdownlist Is Empty When Web Page Displays?
Feb 9, 2011
A web site project, 4 pages. First page just has button links to redirect to another page. When button link is cliced, the data is retrieved from SQL Server through stored procedures and they are in a class file. Able to call the procedures and pass the information through SET Properties and right before the page is displayed, checked and data is in the dropdownlist control then redirect to show page. The dropdowlist is empty, should I be using something different to show the page with the data? Have tryied REDIRECT and then fill dropdownlist and its still empty on displayed.
I have a DropDownList displaying around 75+ values and it shows a scrollbar. The problem is when the page displays the DropDownList, I can't scroll to the first few items in it. It kind of goes outside the explorer.
The only way I can get to it is by downsizing the page using maximize button and then access the list. I'm using VS 2008.
My understanding is that the ErroMessage is supposed to be displayed in a ValidationSummary control. My page does not have a ValidationSummary and I set the RequiredValidator's Text property to empty. I expected that nothing would be displayed when the validated control is invalid, but the ErrorMessage shows up at the place where Text is supposed to be. I am wondering if this is normal.
BTW, ValidatorCalloutExtender is used. Is this a cause?
Now I have to set the Display property to None to avoid any displaying anything. This is not a big deal, but I am curious.
I have a gridview which is fairly straight forward... I've added paging to the gridview which functions correctly. However, after clicking any one of the page buttons (next page/last page), it appears some sort of a label is being displayed in my web form saying "NewPageIndex: 1". This changes from page to page displaying the actual index of the page. Why is this displaying? The only thing i can think of is the size of my gridview (Right now set to 1500 lines per page) . here is my gridview control html code:
I'm trying to generate a dropdownlist in a GridView. However, my dropdownlist seem to be empty and I'm not sure how to fix it. Here's my code for the dropdownlist in my GridView & it's SqlDataSource.
DropDownList in GridView: SqlDataSource for DropDownList: [Code]....
I'm working on ASP.NET 4.0 and I'm having problems for saving the selected value in a DropDownList.
I initialize it in the Web Control's PreRender method as follows:
if (!Page.IsPostBack) LoadCountryList();
Where LoadCountryList's code is:
private void LoadCountryList() { var vr = new CountryRepository(); var countryList = vr.GetAllForList(); DdlCountry.EnableViewState = true; DdlCountry.DataValueField = "code"; DdlCountry.DataTextField = "name"; dlCountry.DataSource = countryList; DdlCountry.DataBind(); }
After I submit the form, I've noticed the DropDownList is empty(it's not before postback). If you take a look at my code, I've enabled the ViewState for this control, but I'm not getting any results yet. Does anybody know what's going on?
EDIT:
Here is the simple code of the control in the aspx file:
I've looked at answers to some similar question but I still can't seem to figure this out. I think I'm misunderstanding something about how ASP.NET works.In the standard ASP.Net 4.0 'Create a new Account' form, I've added a DropDownList containing Roles to be selected for the new account. in the aspx page, the control looks like this:
I m using MultiView and View Controls in my site. I have placed some DropDownlists in different Views containing data of YES/NO or some other data. I have put that data manually by Edit Items. But when i run the project my all DropDownList shows empty.
when i execute it using local port auto-asign port, the aspx page shows ok on the internet explorer.
when i run the same project from the IIS (Browsing the aspx page from the iis), only the controls text is displays without the controls (colors and menus .. ) - although the source view shows that the tags exists.
I have a problem with my dropdownlist on edit he doesn't want to add any of his parameters to the update. I tried controlparameter and normall parameter both didn't work The folowing I have: Dropdownlist with Datasource: I Have a gridview with templatefields: I have the following asp.net code:

I'm new to AJAX and ASP.NET and i have a question for you guys..I have built a C# project and i wish to create a web page via AJAX that displays the current status of my program.The thing is, i cant import an ASP web application into my solution and therefore cant create an ASP page using AJAX.
I have a gridview with two bound fields. On clicking a button i want to display the values in first row of gridview in two textboxes. But if gridview cell is empty i am getting the text in textbox to which the value of cell is given as -' 'i know my problem will be solved if i use the template fields instead. But i want a solution while maintaining the bound fields ,if any.
When I navigate to [URL] (the default page for the directory) it displays it without logging in (as I want). But when going to [URL] FormsAuthentication redirects to [URL] to login. There isn't a way to set the path for just "/" in the web.config, I get an error. This only happens on my ISP (hosted Windows 2003), I can't reproduce this issue locally on my test 2003 boxes.
the helper @grid.GetHtml() You can display the limit rows (e.g. 10) and page numbers at the bottom of the display which can be viewed by clicking on the following sample data.But the helper @ grd.GetHtml() (I figured) there are restrictions in output. For example if I want to display picture < img src =" @ id .jpg" alt = ""/> (I'm doing when working with @ foreach) to do that I need to put in the < img src = ".jpg" alt = ""/> it's not convenient. mene Is it possible to use @foreach to organize limited preview rows and displays the page number to view the data?
I have two pages manager and user both have drop downs asĀ
Week, Months and Years.
User have to enter some data week wise for each months and Manager have to approve that.
To Approve manager select months and week from dropdown on his own page and then navigate to User page.
How does I should bind the drop down so that if manager select 1st week from it's page and goes to view link of user then in drop down of user selected value shold be the same as selected by Manager on his own page.
I have a table thats created dynamically, the table gets its contents from a custom class I've created that gets statistical data from a database. As the table is generated dynamically, I've put the contents class (the table data) into a session object and I populate the table initially inside a !IsPostback then on the page init I get the data from the session (its empty on the firts page load). I am now getting this error: Multiple controls with the same ID 'controlnamehere' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs. How can I avoid this?
I'm trying to Exit the Page_Load event if the user did not come from a specific page. If it did I want it to populate the fields based on what i passed from the other page. Here's my code:
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load If Request.QueryString Is Nothing Then Exit Sub ElseIf Page.IsPostBack Then NCMRNumber.SelectedValue = Request.QueryString("NCMRNumber") NCMRLabel.Text = NCMRNumber.SelectedValue Dim SQLDataview As DataView = DirectCast(SortInstructionsSQL.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), DataView) For Each DataRow As DataRowView In SQLDataview SupplierNameLabel.Text = DataRow("Supplier").ToString SupplierContactLabel.Text = DataRow("SupplierContact").ToString SupplierPhoneLabel.Text = DataRow("SupplierPhone").ToString PartNumberLabel.Text = DataRow("PartNumber").ToString DefectDescriptionLabel.Text = DataRow("DescriptionofDefect").ToString Next End If End Sub
I have a repeater which always has 1 UserControl, however the UserControl can vary, lets say it could be UC1, UC2 or UC3.
When I come to validate that a hiddenfield in each is not empty, I iterate through the repeater items but I have to do a findcontrol on UC1 check an exposed value, then do the same for UC2 then UC3. In all its a bit unwieldly.
What it would be great to do is iterate through the repeater items find the hiddenfield (which is the same name for each UC) and test that in one go, like below:
foreach(RepeaterItem item in Repeater1)
{ ... some code here to start off with
HiddenField hfAnswer = (HiddenField)item.FindControl("HF_Answer"); if(hfAnswer != string.Empty) do something here }
I have VS 2008 installed and have IE8 browser as well as google chrome browser.However wheneever i try to run a .aspx page in solution explorer of VS with the browse with.. options,the page runs fine with chrome browser but not with IE8.The IE browser shows the error "Ineternet explorer cannot display the page".I have set the IE as the default browser in the browse with ... option of the VS 2008.
This is my scenario. I have a couple of content place holders on a Master page which by default are empty.Two of the content place holders are laid out side by side. I'll call one MainContent and the other SidebarContent. What I'd like to see happen is if a child page has content in the SidebarContent, the width of the MainContent should be adjusted accordingly.Is there a way to determine at runtime from the Master page if the calling child page has populated the SidebarContent?How do I go about this, if possible?
