Web Forms :: Embedded ImageButton In Grid Doesnīt Fire Click_Event?
Mar 20, 2010
I have embedded an ImageButton inside a GridView.Now I am using a loop to just make the ImageButton visible on the first row and that works great. I use the FindControl to do that and are also putting an Image to that button on the first row.Now is my problem this that this button also needs to have an URL attached to it so when pressing this button it will be possible to open up a Browser with this URL attached to it. I need to use the code that I have in the ImageButton6_Click event as this code is working with IE, Firefox etc... It seems that I should have gotten this correct but dont know why the ImageButton6_Click event isnīt firing when pressing the button. What I get is an Errorpage that says "Invalid postback or callbak argument" etc...

I have a gridview with a ButtonField. When I leave the button type as the default LinkButton, clicking that button fires the RowCommand and everything works as expected. As soon as I change the button type to ImageButton and assign an ImageUrl, clicking that button does not fire the RowCommand.

Why isn't the image displayed? The folder images is in the same folder as the .aspx file.Why doesn't it invoke the ImageButton1_Click method when I click on the image? The OnClick should be for the server side.The ImageButton1_Click method takes 2 parameters, but why OnClick does not require 2 parameters?
<asp:ImageButton
ID="ImageButton1"
runat="server"
ImageUrl="images/export.gif"
OnClick="ImageButton1_Click"
/>
protected void ImageButton1_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
{
Label1.Text = "You've clicked the image button.";
}
I have to add this line to the Page_Load method in order for it to invoke the ImageButton1_Click method when I click on the image, why?
ImageButton1.Attributes.Add("onclick",
"ImageButton1_Click()");
This line works fine too:
ImageButton1.Attributes.Add("onclick",
"ImageButton1_Click('report.xls', GridView1)");
The 2 parameters are: object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e. What are they and why I pass in a string and a gridview, which I don't think match with the arguments definition, and it still works?

I have an asp page that has an iFrame. In the onload event of the iFrame, the javascript code copies the content of the iframe to the div. The iFrame has src="test.aspx" and hence displays the content of the test.aspx inside the div.Test.aspx page contains and imageButton, which does not show up in the iFrame.I am getting the following issues:1. the image does not show up (cannot see test.gif)2. When i click on the imagebutton link, it tries to search for test.aspx in the directory where the asp page resides inside of the actuallocation/directory of the aspx page.

I have a Radtreeview that sits inside a RadGrid. For some reason the expand/collapse buttons of the Treeview are not working. I can expand the Treeview initially, however the NodeExpand event never fires.(a postback does occur to the server, and I have several buttons on the treeview node that work.) Once the node has been expanded, the collapse button doesn't work, and clicking on it does nothing.(no postback to server). I have the ExpandMode set to ServerSide. However, if I change the Expandmode to Clientside it works properly.
I really need the control to work with ExpandMode set to serverside, to reduce the loading for large Tree's.
Im not sure if this matters. But I am adding the Events to the RadTreeview when the event RadGrid_ItemDataBound is fired.I am noticing one strange behavior, that I cannot explain either, if I do not attach an event to NodeExpand It fails to open or close. Also the NodeDataBound event fires successfully and the data is loading fine into the tree.
RadTreeView tree = (RadTreeView)e.Item.FindControl("RadTreeView1");
tree.NodeDataBound += new RadTreeViewEventHandler(RadTreeView1_NodeDataBound);
tree.NodeExpand += new RadTreeViewEventHandler(RadTreeView1_NodeExpand);
tree.NodeCollapse += new RadTreeViewEventHandler(tree_NodeCollapse);
Here is the decleration of the Treeview in the ascx file

I created a form in a popup div, that contain an UpdatePanel with ImageButtons in it.Initially, I used LinkButtons to test but I wanted ImageButtons. The thing is, it works well with LinkButtons and not with ImageButtons (absolutely nothing happens).

I'm trying to use the ImageButton control for client-side script execution only. I can specify the client-side script to execute using the OnClientClick property, but how do I stop it from trying to post every time the user clicks it? There is no reason to post when this button is clicked. I've set CausesValidation to False, but this doesn't stop it from posting.

im using an update panel and my web form consists of textboxs and combo box, my problem is that when i click the button save for the first time, my page simply postbacks and the event save wouldnt fire, click it the second time and poof save will execute.. I notice that it is caused by my dropdown box and textbox autopostback function, i need to set this to true since i need to execute another function that will disable the dropdown when the textbox is filled and vice versa,set this to false and save will function normally..any ideas how to fix this?
here is the code for that.
<asp:DropDownList
ID="ddNewLocation"
runat="server"
Width="95%"
AutoPostBack="true"
AppendDataBoundItems="True"
onselectedindexchanged="ddNewLocation_SelectedIndexChanged">
<asp:TextBox
ID="txtNewLocation"
runat="server"
Width="90%"
AutoPostBack="true"
ontextchanged="txtNewLocation_TextChanged"></asp:TextBox>

I have a UserControl with a ModalPopupExtender that shows a Panel with a GridView. I use this UserControl inside an UpdatePanel.The issue is that I'm using a LinkButton in a TemplateField of the grid that sends a Command and it is working well. If I replace the LinkButton with an ImageButton, the AJAX call raises an error 500 (and I don't know how to debug it). As I understand, the ImageButton will send the same CommandName to the same OnRowCommand handler as the Linkbutton.

For some reason the first time I click this button, the code is beeing fired. When login credentials are wrong, a message shows up. THen, the user inserts the right credentials. After clicking the 'cmdLogin' button, nothing happens and the old (wrong) values are beeing filled in inside the textboxes. This behaviour occured to me after switching to ASP.NET 4.0.

I am trying to dynamically load query form as a user control and build a sql statement based on user selection. I have a dropdownbox for Tablename, FieldName, ConditionalOperators and Value Field. Once the user makes a choice and causes a postback I loose my QueryForm (UserControl) and the selection Changed event never gets fired. I tried reloading the QueryForm on Page Init, still no luck.

I have a dropdown list that is populated by a dataset (Data being extracted from DB). Based on the selection made by the user I call OnSelectedIndexChanged, and populated the form with the relevent info. The problem I am having is the first item in the list is selected by default, so if the user selects this option OnSelectedIndexChanged does not fire. To work around this I add a default item to the dropdown list after populating it with the dataset as shown here;
jobStandardActList.Items.Insert(0,
jobStandardActList.SelectedIndex = 0;
jobStandardActList.SelectedValue =
"----Select an Item----");"";
This works fine, however if the user selects an item from the list, and then proceeds to selects the default item "----Select Item----" i receive an error. sys.webforms.pagerequestmanagersevererrorexception: an unknown error occured while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500

A little confused on something. I have a User Control in a master page. In the User Control there are image buttons. when I try to wire any click event even to say update a label in the User Control itself, nothing gets updated.
It is as if the postback is not handled at all.
What I want to do is click the image button in the User Control and then change a value in the master page. This could happen a few ways but for example it could update a public property or a control itself like a textbox or label.

Here is my situation: I have a overview of subscriptions that look simple:
Active (bool), ID (int), StartDate (datetime) and MaxUsers (int).
I've put this in a Gridview and it renders nicely.
Now everything is simply in ItemTemplates and are formatted.
Now a new feature: In the Gridview active should be a checkbox and when clicked on it, it should (de)activate the subscription. Or simply said, Active status is updated. Now me being a simpleton thinks:
[Code]....
and the cs:
[Code]....
But! the event doesnt get fired. Now I've searched with google and also through this forum and every time I get the answer: autopostback on true or use commandname. Now for this little feature I think the commandname use in combi with rowbound is overkill for such a little thing.
Now I hope I'm just missing something because this would be really nasty and stupid to make it so complicated. I like the autopostback and oncheckchanged combination because it logical, but why doesnt it work?
