Web Forms :: Get Date Created Info For File Before Uploading?
Sep 28, 2010
I have a FileUpload control on my page. I would like to get hold of the "date created" information of the file
before it is uploaded. (Obviously, when you upload the file, the uploaded/copied version has a new "date created", set to the time of when you actually uploaded the file.

I have a datagrid with two columns ( File Name, and Date Created ). I want them to be sorted when clicked (ASC or DESC). I went into the design view and added the allow sorting feature and added the column names, so they are clickable in the header of the data grid. I also already added the onsortcommand as well.
My datagrid is named dgFileList and the onsortcommand method is named dgFileList_SortCommand.
The procedure that is already loading on page load is a DataSet. (where I think my problem is)I dont have anything in the back end beside the dgFileList_Sortcommand method. From what I have read, it seems like I can't use a DataSet to be sorted...I'm using visual studios 2005, C#, not VB.

I have the membership provider and the create user with tow steps, one of the steps contains a custom registration form, for each created user data will be in the database, and there is an account page shows the data that the new created user did insert during the registration process on the custom registration page,
the problem, when the user is created and logged into his account page, this account page shows only the information for the first created user, not the info on the logged in user , but the logged in user data still saved in database and not showing on his account page?
This is web.confg code:

I have a Web application in which I'm trying to use the new AJAX AsyncFileUpload control. I want to use it in the ModalPopupExtender, and I want to embed these two AJAX controls in a user control (photo_upload.ascx) for re-use in different parts of the application. (I understand that this wasn't possible with the older FileUpload control but that it is with this most recent AJAX tool.)
Presently, I merely redirect the user to an upload.aspx page that includes the photo_upload.ascx control (see the sequential screenshots in the attached image); but while this way of doing things "works," it becomes very confusing for the user who has already clicked an upload button or two. In other words, when the "Add Yours" button is clicked, the panel with the "(1) Upload Photo" button unhides; and when the Upload Photo button is then clicked, the user is redirected to the control in the bottom screen. I would gladly bypass the 1, 2, 3 steps in the second screen after the "Add Yours" button is clicked and redirect straightway to the upload control (in the bottom screen, which I will like to be in a ModalPopupExtender), but I also need a way for them to enter a caption that will go with the uploaded photo.

My VB code for the above steps is included below. I would appreciate any fresh ideas on how to accomplish my above objectives.

I've got a script below that uploads multiple files and works fine. I am trying to rename them as I upload them and I'm having some trouble figuring it out.
[Code]....
From this line
Path.GetFileName(hpf.FileName + "-" + recordID + "-" + i));
I am trying to rename the file with the record ID (from a querystring) and also the upload number of the file that is being uploaded (2 of 3 etc).
how can i achieve this?

Where can i find a good source to accomplish this? It needs to allow only excel or csv file uploads, which would be inserted into the database.

I'm building an ASP.NET MVC 2 site where I'm currently implementing an OpenID sign-up form. Unfortunately, I'm foreseeing a possible security bug/vulnerability inside my architecture.
Here's how I want OpenID login to work:
User requests /Account/Login, Controller sends back OpenIDLogin View. User enters their OpenID into the View, then OpenID authorization takes place, and finally the OpenID is returned to the Controller. The Controller checks whether the OpenID is currently in use by a user in the system or not. If it is, the user is logged in to that account. If not, the registration process begins.
And now, the OpenID registration process:
The OpenID identifier, as well as any other information provided by the OpenID provider (such as email address or name), is put into my custom ViewModel and sent to my OpenIDRegistrationForm View. The RegistrationForm View stores the OpenID in a hidden field to make sure that it gets sent back to the Controller. The user fills in the RegistrationForm View and sends it back to the Controller. The Controller creates the user account and puts the OpenID into the database.
The bug that I see within my architecture is that a user could modify the hidden value in the RegistrationForm View. Thus, they could spoof their OpenID! I will make sure to add another round of checking to the final Registration Controller Action to make sure that the OpenID that is provided doesn't exist yet, but there is still a possibility for spoofing. Can my architecture be improved somehow? I don't want this to end badly...
One solution I'm considering is encrypting the OpenID before I send it to the View and then decrypting it when it reaches the Controller. Should I try this?

I have a client side JavaScript that generates a date in JavaScript( new Date(2007,5,1)).
I need this date passed through to a hidden field that the code behind can access.
My issue is that when the hidden field is converted into a DotNet datetime, the time is incorrect. This is because the JavaScript is including timezone info from the client browser.
DotNet is then using this info to recalculate the time based on the difference between the server time and the client time.
What i need from the JavaScript is just the year, month and day.
I don't want to pass through 3 int values to my code behind as this will be a major change to the whole app.
What is the best way for me to accomplish this?
If i can set a UTC time with no timezone info I think that might work.

I increased the default size in the web config to 195MB,and it's still not working. The following code depicts the size that I currently set in the web config.
