Web Forms :: How To Add Class And Initialize Js Function In Nested / Derived Master Page's Code Behind
Feb 22, 2011
I want to add a class and initialize a JS funcion behind my nested masterpage which is being dervised from an other master page. But when I add the following code in the PageLoade event in the code behined of my derived page then it give the folowing error
Exception Details:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I have a page with features supplied from both a master page and a child master page.In the content placeholder for the head in both master pages I have supplied the link to the stylesheet for the site.In Design View in VS 2008 the CSS code seems to be functioning correctly.When viewing in a browser the CSS does not appear to be applied at all.
Here is the CSS code for the div elements within the main content placeholder:
I have some code I only want to execute the first time I display a form. With this in mind I created a class variable which I initialize the first time I execute page load.
public partial class CLVideoDefinition : System.Web.UI.Page { string videofile; string first; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (first != "N") {
I then select a value from a drop down list , but when it does the auto postback it executes page load but my class varaible has been reinitialized to null and will then execute the code I only want to execute on the first run. why my class variable has been reinitialized.
I hv Declared two Master page one Is Base and Derived.. Base Page Load is working but when i hv written load controls in Derived Page Load Using C# it's not working..
I got a Master page and nested master pages in the subfolders.
Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
I want some drag and drop stuff on my website. I found some javascript that works when using it with a simple html page, but when I tried to put it in my asp site it doesn't.
In site.master (between the head tags):
Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="~/Scripts/Javscriptfile.js"></script> and then: Code: <body onload="redips.drag.init()">
And the error is:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'redips' is undefined
I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .
So for example.
Main master page = main.master My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master) content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)
So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.
So far I have got
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string nMaster = //This is the line of code that I am looking for. switch(master) { case "nested.master": //all my logic here. break; } }
Since we can access the private data member of base class in the derived class with the help of friend function. How can we do the same in C# asp.net? I mean whats the alternative of friend function in C# asp.net
Following is the structure of the pages in application
[Code]....
Suppose the user is on ..../paycheck.aspx which is the content page. But when ...../paycheck.aspx loads, "lnkDynamic" properties "Text and PostBackUrl" must be set. Which events should be handled .....
I have a master page and a nested master page... I am trying to get to a control on the master page however I just cannot seem to figure out how to do it.I thought I might need to add both tags on the page however this didn't seem to work... Could someone me understand what i need to do.
[Code]....
I have found a way to do it in the back end... I am just wondering how it works using these tags.
i'm trying to add a CSS class to a control in a nested master page.what i usually do with a master page is adding this to the nested page:
[Code]....
after i give id=left_a and runat=server to a control in the master page.but when i tried to do it from a page nested in a nested masterpage, it gives me an error.what i want to do i add a class to a control in the nested master page from the nesting page.
I have 2 nested master pages, lets call them MP1 and MP2. MP1 is top level, MP2 is level
2. Then I have several content pages. Lets say I have 2 content pages for now CP1 and CP2. Each content page has a form that will have some user input and a SaveData()function that saves the data to a database. Each content page also has a "Save" button that calls the SaveData() function.
MP1 and MP2 have several link buttons. The functionality I need is this: Any time a user clicks on a link button in MP1 or MP2, the SaveData() function of the currently loaded page should be called. This is to save the data even if the user forgets to click the "Save" button before leaving the page.
So far I can do this from the link buttons in MP2. I followed the master pages tutorial # 7
In the .cs file for MP2, I declare:
public event EventHandler SaveData;
then i raise a "SaveData" event any time a link button in MP2 is clicked.in every content page (CP1, CP2 etc.) aspx file, I have Master Type directive to assign the Master Page to MP2.
in CP1, CP2 etc .cs file, i have the following code: protected void Page_PreInit(object sender, EventArgs e) { //wire up the SaveData event from MP2 to Master_SaveData function in this page. Master.SaveData += new EventHandler(Master_SaveData); } private void Master_SaveData(object sender, EventArgs e) { //when the MP2 SaveData event is raised, save the data in this page. SaveData(); }
All of this works fine.Problem is I am not able to do a similar thing from MP1.What I have tried so far is to raise an event in MP1 that is handled in MP2. When the event is handled in MP2, it raises the SaveData event to be handled in the page. The event in MP1 is null and hence never raised.
iam developing master page in that master page panel control is there under another panel control is there second panelcontrol is not visiblemy code like that
Im developing an admin section for a cms tool and in previous tools i used a master page, which then had a page called verified.aspx. this contained a menu control and then dependant on which menu item they selected loaded a user control into a multiview controlThis works fine accept for some small annoying post back issues (not refreshing data and also the time taken to load the large amount of controls)
I have a master page with 2 content placeholders. Im my verified page (which uses the master), i have a nav menu on the left. Dependant on the item selected fro the nav menu on the left, id like to poplute the content placeholders content with an aspx page (which contains a user control) or just an apsx page
ive seen a couple of articles suggesting iframe, and a couple suggesting nested master pages but i dont believe i can get this to work with nester masters,
I have the following query which returns all appointments for a given date, grouped by client and appointment date. For those clients that have multiple appointments on that date, I get multiple rows, one for each appointment time. I only want the earliest appointment for each client, which would result in only one row per client. If I add the MIN function to SchedTime, I'm forced to put all columns in a GROUP BY clause, which isn't what I want.Can I use a derived table and/or MIN(Schedule.SchedTime) to achieve this? Or is my thinking wrong to begin with?
here i wan to call nested master page from my base master page, can it work?
coz when i add new nested master page, it allow me to add and when i show in design of nested masterpage, it will link together,but how i make a button in master page to view the nested master page in master page's contain.
My computer system froze on me, the mouse froze, cntrl-alt-del, did nothing, so I reset it. Did a disk check, and now everything seems fine except for my master Page html code which I was in the middle of editing when it happened. The VB code-behind file is still ok, the designer file still shows ok with all of the controls in it, but I can't get into desgn or source view. It just opens and gives a whole page of hesixecimal code such as as:
I have a function in a code behind file that's used to respond to a gridview event:
protected void GridviewEval(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { foreach (TableCell cell in e.Row.Cells) { if (cell.Text == "0") { cell.Text = "-"; } } } } It's currently in the code behind of a page and I'll be using it in other other pages.I would like to use the same code in other pages.When I cut and paste the function into a class,it's not working.
