I need to use FindControl to access a Dropdownlist in my webpage, however the control resides inside many panels like below:
ContentPlaceHolder -> UpdatePanel -> Panel -> TabContainer -> TabPanel -> Table -> TableRow
will I have to use FindControl recursively inorder to read the dropdownlist.
i use TabPanel in once of my pages, inside of TabPanel there is some ASP.NET controls, now in code behind i want commend to DropDownList1 but it can not find the control.
how can i access a asp.net control inside of TabPanel?
I have a datagrid "dgParents" and inside this datagrid I have another datagrid "dgChildren".
In dgChildren I have three dropdownlist drp1, drp2, drp3.
I have a button"Save"
I am able to populate data.
Now User selects any value from dropdownlist of dgChildren and click button "Save".
I have a function in code behind for button click here I want to access the values of drpdownlists that are in dgChildren so that I can save in thesevalues in db.
I'm not able to acess the vlues of dropdownlists that are in dgChildren.
I tries findcontrol and controls etc but didnt work.
I'll really appreciate any help for sample code/tutorial/.

First post here, I usually try not posting until I am completely lost. I have a webform that gets a dynamic dropdownlist added to a placeholder in a method during pageload. During a submit of the page, I want to be able to get the selectedItem in the DropDownList that was also added dynamically from a DB. I know the ID of the DropDownList, and I know the Value of all the ListItems. Although when I am trying to use FindConrol(ID), and assign it to a DropDownList, the Control comes back Null and I get an error saying "Object Reference not set to and Instance of an Object", I believe because its not finding the control.

For some strange reason, the user control is "outside" of the panels, thus visible no matter what panel is selected... if I programatically insert another control (ie: a texbox) inside another panel, it works fine...

I have a scriptManager tag in the master page and an updatePanel in the content page.
I have a form I'm trying to insert inside a TabPanel. It's actually code PayPal gave me to insert a buynow button. The problem is that the form tags are causing my tabs to either have extra space on the bottom or top (depending on the tab) in IE. Firefox the problems do not happen and everythind displays correctly. Any idea how I can fix this in IE. It seams as if IE is leaving part of the other tab visible if I have form tags in the TabPanel.

I have a label control inside of repeater and I can't seem to get FindControl to locate the label inside of the repeater or even the repeater itself. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. OnItemDataBound is firing because "hello1" is being written but if I put anything inside of the For Next loop of rptMarketFundamentals, nothing is run inside of it.

I am developing a site using VS2008, so I have AJAX 3.5, and the site is meant for using IE8 browser only. I have a TabPanel with 6 tabs, one of them uses controls with postbacks. I had an UpdatePanel outside the TabPanel so the entire panel will perform a refresh on postback. However, the refresh is a little slow so I tried using an UpdatePanel inside the specific tab to refresh only the controls I need updated. It worked, but what ends up happening is the subsequent AJAX controls (I have NumericUpDownExtenders) and tabs become locked (can't click on them). Is this a problem because the Update Panel is already nested inside an AJAX control (TabPanel)? Or is there some other way to go about doing this?

I have a number of dropdownlists embedded in a gridview. When I submit the page I loop through all the rows of the gridview and use the findcontrol method to get the dropdownlist e.g:

This works nicely, however when I try to get the selected item of the dropdownlist e.g:

When the FormView is in Edit mode, ddlCategory is populated as expected by calling GetCategories(), which returns a List of categories. However, when the ListView is in Insert mode, ddlCountry is empty. I put a break point in GetCountries(), but it never gets called. If I change the name of the method, I get an error. So it recognizes the method at compile time, but does not call it at run time. I'm guessing this is an embedded binding issue of some kind, but I'm hoping someone can save me a lot of time by pointing out the solution.
