I have a question about retrieving the values from dynamic created controls. I'am using an wizard witch collects it data based on the steps in the wizard. At a certain wizard step i generate dropdownlists and textboxes depending on some records from a database. At this point no problem, the controls are created perfect. When i press the next button on the wizard i read out the eventarg e.currentstepindex, iterate throug the gridview witch is displaying the controls and try to find the control with "findcontrol" function.
The controls are "nothing" and i cant access them. THe source code of the page lets me show that the controls are there and that they have the assigned ID's.I investigated on google what the problem could be. I has to do with the viewstate and i have to regenerate the controls on page_load.

I have a label control inside of repeater and I can't seem to get FindControl to locate the label inside of the repeater or even the repeater itself. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. OnItemDataBound is firing because "hello1" is being written but if I put anything inside of the For Next loop of rptMarketFundamentals, nothing is run inside of it.
<asp:Repeater id="rptMarketFundmentals" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsMarketFundamentals" OnItemDataBound="rptMarketFundamentals_ItemDataBound">
<asp:Label ID="lblOwnershipCategory" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("OwnershipCategory") %>' />
</asp:Repeater>
Sub rptMarketFundamentals_ItemDataBound(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As RepeaterItemEventArgs)
Response.Write("hello1") 'this works
Dim dataItem As RepeaterItem
For Each dataItem In rptMarketFundmentals.Items
Response.Write("hello2") 'this does not work
Dim lblOwnershipCategory As Label = CType(dataItem.FindControl("lblOwnershipCategory"), Label)
If lblOwnershipCategory.Text.ToLower = "family firm" Then blOwnershipCategory.CssClass = "highlight"
End If
Next
End Sub

First post here, I usually try not posting until I am completely lost. I have a webform that gets a dynamic dropdownlist added to a placeholder in a method during pageload. During a submit of the page, I want to be able to get the selectedItem in the DropDownList that was also added dynamically from a DB. I know the ID of the DropDownList, and I know the Value of all the ListItems. Although when I am trying to use FindConrol(ID), and assign it to a DropDownList, the Control comes back Null and I get an error saying "Object Reference not set to and Instance of an Object", I believe because its not finding the control.
[Code]....
Can anyone show me how to use this to get access to the properties of the dynamic DropDownList properties, especially the ListItems within.

I have a user control.
On that user control is an update panel.
In that update panel is a wizard.
One of the steps is as follows.
[Code]....
What this does is create a javascript spinner control. Now when I click the NEXT button onto this step it generates the spinner control. I click next to go to the next step, then I click PREVIOUS to go back to this step and the spinner control is not generated.
Now I have tested this on an ASPX page and it seems to work, I then copy the code across to an ASCX control and put the page live and it does not work.
The update panel has an animation extender that just displays a div with a processing gif when you click next/previous.
So any reason why it creates the control on the next and not the previous step?

I need to use FindControl to access a Dropdownlist in my webpage, however the control resides inside many panels like below:
ContentPlaceHolder -> UpdatePanel -> Panel -> TabContainer -> TabPanel -> Table -> TableRow
will I have to use FindControl recursively inorder to read the dropdownlist.

I have a dynamically created wizard control in the Page Init subroutine and accompanying NextButtonClicked event attached. It seems that when clicking the next button in the wizard and firing the event which is supposed to in turn insert a row in the db via an objectdatasource outside of the wizard, the insert is executed as many time as there are wizardsteps. For example, if there are 5 wizardsteps, then when looking at the data in the database there are 5 rows for what would be each insert from each wizardstep - and if there were 4 then 4 rows would be insterted for each step and so on...Is this something to do with adding the even dynamically and using the objectdatasource to insert??? I can't put my finger on the repetition....Basically....I create a wizard control dynamically which is much a like a quiz (each wizard step would be a question) - the number of wizard steps is contingent on a value retrieved from the database.
The user enters data on each step which is inserted via the Objectdatasource when the NextButtonClick event is fired.
Duplicate rows are inserted in the database for the value of the wizardstep just completed.
The number of identical rows are equal to the number of the wizard steps created for the control.
This happens for each wizard setp in the control except for the finalbuttonclick event.
All the controls in the step have a unique ID.If anyone has either a solution, or a way to possibly spot check this to determine if it is a bug or not,

I've got a textbox being used to enter a password inside a wizard control. I'm trying to get a password strength meter working with it.
Unfortunately, the password box isn't visible until step 4 and this means that I can't register the event handler onload() and putting some JS next to the PW box to register the event handler doesn't seem to fire. I'm guessing this is due to the contents of the wizard being loaded through an AJAX postback.

I'm trying to use a server control inside a template wizard step, when I drop such server control in the first step of the wizard everything goes ok. When I insert even a blank step previous to the step which contains the server control, the javasript code of the server control is not rendered at all, the page doesn't fail during load but until I go with mouse over an item of the grid for instance.When I check the rendered HTML I can see no HTML, nor javascript events of this server control where rendered, neither the implementation nor calls to javascript, but even rarer what is there visible in the grid for ie, even the other components of the server control, are not in the "view source code" content. I seems it was sent to the client, even showed, but truncated in some phase..The server control consists of a gridview with custom navigation&information capabilities and javascript functions to highlight the selected grid items or highlight when mouse over event occurs.. (full tested outside asp:wizard)

If there's a better way to accomplish what I'm attempting I haven't found it yet. That being said, I have create a gridview like the one here,[URL]And with some minor tweaking it working great for all my fields, checkboxes, etc. The issue is my last column is another gridview, and I'd like it to function the same. that is, a dynamic gridview inside of a dynamic gridview. I get that I have to create it initially with null values or it won't show up. I guess what I'm having trouble figuring out is instead of go will null data in the parent gridviews column, do I place my blank child gridview. Do I create and bind the child gridview first, or second. Generally just not sure. Also, as far as storing the data from the child gridview goes, will each one need it's own datatable?

I'm trying to build a website for real estate listing. now the data would look like a datagrid. and while clicking on it, it should open under the clicked row the dynamic data related to the specific row. (like an AJAX accordion). this website for example ( ignore the language, couldnt find any better example [URL] Now, i've been told that this works by using "Dynamic Div Creation" which i have no idea how it should work this way. Is it possible to make it work by using an Accordion inside a datagrid? or what?

I've been reading up on the problems with dynamically created controls and how they have been solved. The posts I have come across are creating the controls in a panel or some other open place. I can't seem to get my checkbox to fire the event from inside a gridview. below is the code behind from inside the GridView PreRender event.
[Code]....
..And the Checked Event..
[Code]....
So after all this, nothing happens. I get the postback flash but my command inside the checked event doesn't fire.I tried putting the dynamic creation of the checkbox in Page Load with no effect.. I think because I can't place the checkbox inside the GridView under page load.

I'm having difficulty trying to create and persist controls inside of a gridview during postbacks. I have an unbound Datagrid control which is created with x number of rows and y number of columns during the Page_Load event.
[Code]....
During the RowDataBound event of the GridView, I create a placeholder control and then I create a label and add the label to the placeholder
[Code]....
On the first page load when navigating to the page, the grid dispays perfectly and the labels are created with no issues and I can see the "1" in every single cell of the Gridview. I basically need the labels in the cells to store an ID when the cell is clicked (the click event works with no issues, wired it all up with javascript) and Since the Cells to not exist prior to "Building the matrix" method, How can I persist the Label controls inside of the tablecells between postbacks so I can assign and read values from them.
I've read a number of online posts from 4guys from rolla and they demonstrate how to persist a handful of controls dynamically created in a staticly defined PlaceHolder conrol outside of the complicated setup of the gridview and have failed at adapting them. The golden rule seems to be to 'recreate' the controls during Page_PreInit during the postback, but I can't seem to get it working.

I need to set the "Text" property of a label inside a gridview using, I know how to set the label using static value and I also know how to set the label using the "Bind" keyword but I want to do both, something like this:
[Code]....
So the output will be something like:
<OUTPUT>
Book Name: The Story of My Life
</OUTPUT>

have a wizard control inside an update panel. have a radiobuttonlist that autopostback's when i click a radio button, page posts back & the page hops back up to the top. i want a user to be able to click radio controls & checkboxes with the form to be fluent; the hop back up to the top is rather annoying & may confuse the user.

I am using asp.net 2.0 (Visual studio 2005)
I have a update panel and Update progress inside an Wizard control's Wizard Step.
But the update progress is not shown when i click on the 'Finish' (in which the ajax controls are placed) button inside the Wizard step
Note : I am using the FinishNavigationTemplate to define the 'Finish button and OnClick Event of the Button, i am setting the Updateprogress control location using DomElement
Sys.UI.DomElement.setLocation(updateProgressDiv, 300, 300);

I had been created some dynamic radio buttons in a loop inside a dinamy table which is inside an UpdatePanel , but i can not handle the events my code is below:
public void MetodoCreacion()
{
RadioButton RBtn = null;
Table table = new Table();
TableRow row = null;
TableCell cell = null;
for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++)
{
row = new TableRow();
cell = new TableCell();
RBtn = new RadioButton();
RBtn.ID = "RBGN_" + i.ToString();
RBtn.GroupName = "RBGN1";
RBtn.Text = "Opcion " + i.ToString();
RBtn.CheckedChanged += new EventHandler(RBtn_CheckedChanged);
RBtn.AutoPostBack = true;
cell.Controls.Add(RBtn);
row.Controls.Add(cell);
table.Controls.Add(row);
}
UpdatePanel1_UpdatePanelAnimationExtender.Controls .Add(table);
}
public void RBtn_CheckedChanged (object sender, EventArgs e)

Label1.Text = ((RadioButton)sender).ID;
