I have a grid view in Ajax UpdatePanel. In a column of a grid view I have a button call btnAddNewRecord. I need to fire btnAddNewRecord.Click event once I click on that.
How can I do this?
Does anyone have a good vb example of adding an "onClick" event to a button that is dynamically added into a templatefield of a gridview. MSDN just says to use the addhandler statement with no other good info for a 'dynamic' scenario:

I'm dynamically creating a table on my page with rows and controls. It looks like a gridview but it's not (it should've been, but too late now, seriously). I have a first name, last name, date of birth, etc. I want each row to have a button to add rows underneath it. So I create an event handler each time I create a new row and assign it to the click event of a button contained in the row. But it's not getting called.
Is it correct that the event handler doesn't stay established because the buttons are dynically created and are lost when the page posts back?

I have a checkbox inside a update panel. Based on certain conditions, I set the autopostback property to true and also attach a event handler as below
chkBox.CheckedChanged += new EventHandler(this.ChkBoxChaned_Click);
But when the checkbox is checked/unchecked, autopostback happens but the event handler does not get hit.
I have some code that I am working on that uses an UpdatePanel and some dynamically created buttons to perform functions. The problem is that the dynamically created buttons aren't working the same as my test static button, which is behaving exactly as it should be.
So I was wondering if someone would be willing to simply post an example (in VB.NET or C# please) of the following:
An UpdatePanel has a Label and a Placeholder inside of it
The Placeholder has a dynamic button added to it
Clicking on this button will make the Label say "Hi" without performing a full page postback.
If I can just get that much to work, I am sure that the rest of the code will be fine. I just can't seem to get my dynamic buttons to act like my static ones do in an UpdatePanel.
I'm trying to manually create a button and add a Click event handler for it in code. However when the button is clicked the event handler doesn't seem to react on event (or event isn't called).
we tested the code in Visual Studio 2008 and everything worked just as it should. And I'm using Visual Web Developer 2005 XE. So I assume that I'm missing something to be done manually being in VWD 2005 XE, or the problem is in VWD 2005 XE it self.

I need to generate a button way after the page loads but I can't work out how to deal with the Event handler. If I do this when the page loads as shown bellow it works as intended but if I use the exact same method in a button it fails. (it creates the button but when I click the button it just disappears instead of showing a msgbox."I know I shouldn't use Msgbox in a web form but I only do it as a test then remove it"

I made a dynamic TextBox and a Dynamic Button.. I would like to add an event on Dynamic Button to change the textbox text when clicked. In my application I am using ajax updatepannel in which there is a tab container tool having 4 tabs, in the third third tab I used ajax accordian control which has 2 panel each pannel have one gridview control a Remove button. Here what I want to give delete facility to the user upon the selection of checkbox corresponding to the particular record. I have update panel in which i have a label and a textbox and a button
I havwe a Radiobutton list which i am using In the asynchoronous postback trigger of the update panel.
In the Control Id of the trigger I have passed Radiobutton List Id and in the event name I am passing SelectedIndexChanged
But when I click the button no event is firing rest all is working fine.
A simple poll system that loads questions and possible answers.
I load questions, so that each one is generated as a DIV element and placed inside a DIV element already present in HTML markup.
Next, for each question I load answers, generate them as LinkButtons and add them to the corresponding DIV controls collection.
This all works as expected, the questions and answers are all nicely generated.
Now, all the dynamically created controls are placed in a DIV element that is inside an Update Panel.

The problem is, that I can't seem to register the dynamically created controls with the UpdatePanel, so when I click a LinkButton it doesn't do a Full PostBack.

As you can see, I tried adding a handler to each control and then adding the control to the UpdatePanel ContentTemplateContainer, but the clickEvent never gets fired.
I also tried adding triggers for each controls, but it made no difference.
I am quite sure this has to do something with the Page LifeCycle, but I just can't see it.
I added a user control on master page and inside UserControl i add a link. and did some stuff on click of link.
Again i add another Content Page that is using the user control not the master page. Inside the table i add some textbox and save values in database . and the table is in UpdatePanel. and added ad trigger

When i remove the usercontrol entering on table textbox values works fine. and again i put the same user control the link button contol doesn't work for me.
I have a accordion control inside an update panel. As I loop through the Products table and the Details table in the code behind, I'm creating the accordion panes that will display the data. There's an "Add to Cart" button created for each product (each accordion pane), and I'm asigning an EventHandler for that button, but it never fires... My page contains a button [Button1].I've dynamically created a new button [Button2] in the Button1_Click event and and assigned event handler also.But when clicking on Button2, Button2_Click event is not fired.I think its because the page looses dynamically created Button2 after post back, since it is created in Button1_Click event.Is there any way to maintain Button2 on page and raise Button2_Click event ?
View 5 RepliesI am creating two buttons within the StoryGet() method, first when the page loads. When one of the buttons is pushed, lets say the left one - I want to call another method - "ButtonLeft_Click"
Ive used this same solution in other sites and it worked. With this solution, click event never fires.
If I move the StoryGet() call from Page_Load to PageInit() the button event fires, but because this event also calls StoryGet() the method runs twice, which I don't want.
I tried adding this to page_init so the original StoryGet() method only gets run the first time the page loads unless the method is called directly but then the page loads, but the button click event doesn't run again

I also have a single Label control that i use to display messages to the user. I would like to have this label within an update panel also but there are literally hundreds of triggers that would require it to be updated and i dont want to type an absurd number of triggers for this one control.Is there a way for me to have this one panel update regardless of what happens?

In my webform, i have 3-4 textbox, on there textchange event i have to fetch data from database and put it on the form. I have taken another html table (with runat="server") below textbox and and in textchange event created a new <tr>, <td> and simply added contents in <td>, then finally added <tr> in the table. This is done in UpdatePanel.
When i enter something in textbox1 data is added in that table,that's fine. But when i enter something in 2nd textbox the previous data is overridden. My requirement is that if 2nd textbox's text changes than another row with appropiate data should be added, i.e., now two rows. Silimarly if 3rd ,4th textbox data changes then subsequently 3 or 4 rows should be displayed.
