I have a grid view in Ajax UpdatePanel. In a column of a grid view I have a button call btnAddNewRecord. I need to fire btnAddNewRecord.Click event once I click on that.
I have a sharepoint event handler attached to task list. This work fine but I have 3 task list in my site and I want that handler trigger only to one task list.I already used the listtemplateId 107.
Does anyone have a good vb example of adding an "onClick" event to a button that is dynamically added into a templatefield of a gridview. MSDN just says to use the addhandler statement with no other good info for a 'dynamic' scenario:
When I write the code for Each HtmlAnchor a in Me.Master.FindControls("link" + i) AddHandler e.OnServerClick, AddressOf OnClick end for I get an error that OnServerClick event is protected and I cannot access it. The question is how do I dynamically add event handlers to HtmlAnchor controls?
I'm dynamically creating a table on my page with rows and controls. It looks like a gridview but it's not (it should've been, but too late now, seriously). I have a first name, last name, date of birth, etc. I want each row to have a button to add rows underneath it. So I create an event handler each time I create a new row and assign it to the click event of a button contained in the row. But it's not getting called.
Is it correct that the event handler doesn't stay established because the buttons are dynically created and are lost when the page posts back?
I made a dynamic TextBox and a Dynamic Button.. I would like to add an event on Dynamic Button to change the textbox text when clicked. What I want is when I made TextBox1 text "1" into "2" the TextBox having "2" will become "1". below is my code for page2. Page 1 is just a CheckBoxList consist of items to be passed on page2 DropDownList.
I'm new to the world of Update Panels and i'm having a hard time figuring out how to use them properly.
I have a form that has a table(TABLE1)...and inside TABLE1 i am linking to a sql data source....at the bottom of the table i have a 'Add' button.
When the user clicks the add button...a modal popup appears (POPUP1) and inside the POPUP1 the user can click a link that can add a user...when the link button is clicked...a panel within POPUP1 is set to visible = true.
I have one update panel around the whole table and the add button...when i click add and then click the link to add a user....the modal popup disappears.
I have a control that handles commenting. In this control, I have set a delegate event handler for sending an email.
I then have various types of controls, e.g. blog, articles etc, each of which may or may not have the commenting control added (which is done dynamically with me not knowing the id's), i.e. the commenting control is added outside this control. Each of these controls handles it's emailing differently(hence the event).
What I'm trying to determine, is how to assign the event in the parent control. At the moment, I'm having to recursively search through all the controls on the page until I find the comment control, and set it that way. Example below explains:
COMMENTING CONTROL
public delegate void Commenting_OnSendEmail(); public partial class Commenting : UserControl { public Commenting_OnSendEmail OnComment_SendEmail(); private void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if(OnComment_SendEmail != null) { OnComment_SendEmail(); } } }
PARENT CONTROL
public partial class Blog : UserControl { private void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Commenting comControl = (Commenting)this.FindControl<Commenting>(this); if(comControl != null) { comCtrol.OnComment_SendEmail += new Commenting_OnSendMail(Blog_Comment_OnSendEmail); } } }
EDIT:
The reason I ask is that if I search from this.Page as the initial control, I am worried about time taken to search down the control tree to find it. Each different type of page would be different in how many control it would have. On some testing, it returns back quite quickly the result.
Basics: I have a text box (txtDepositAmount) that people can enter a deposit amount into and a drop down (ddlSelectedTerm) that sets the terms. Through these two values I calculate the APY (lblCurrentApy).
Rules: If only one of the values is selected I still want to do an update on the current APY label and clear it. If either value changes I want to update the current APY and recalculate.
The problem: As soon as I click away from the textbox and onto the drop down to select my term the drop down flashes and closes because the textbox TextChanged event was just fired.
I have to click on the drop down a second time to be able to select anything!
Do I need to change what event I'm looking at or do I need to move some of the controls outside of the UpdatePanel? Can this only happen if some of the business rules change? Should I just give up and go to javascript?
Is there a technical reason for the existence of Page.PreLoad or is this just convenience to have a place where you can neatly place code that always have to be executed before the Load code? Is there a difference between adding code in the PreLoad event handler and adding code at the top of the Load event handler? And what would be a typical scenario where you use PreLoad?
I am building a system for a school project. I currently have several Update Panels on the page that have many different controls on them. I also have a single Label control that i use to display messages to the user. I would like to have this label within an update panel also but there are literally hundreds of triggers that would require it to be updated and i dont want to type an absurd number of triggers for this one control. Is there a way for me to have this one panel update regardless of what happens?
i have an update panel, which contains a repeater inside. The repeater's data source will change on postback. The repeater will generate a div for each item.
I need to set the height of the div that is generated by the update panel to the actual total height of the div inside the repeater.
Basically I have a usercontrol that is setup to capture a persons education details. I want to have a button inside the update that when the user clicks loads the usercontrol below the previous usercontrol.
In my webform, i have 3-4 textbox, on there textchange event i have to fetch data from database and put it on the form. I have taken another html table (with runat="server") below textbox and and in textchange event created a new <tr>, <td> and simply added contents in <td>, then finally added <tr> in the table. This is done in UpdatePanel.
When i enter something in textbox1 data is added in that table, that's fine. But when i enter something in 2nd textbox the previous data is overridden. My requirement is that if 2nd textbox's text changes than another row with appropiate data should be added, i.e., now two rows. Silimarly if 3rd ,4th textbox data changes then subsequently 3 or 4 rows should be displayed.
I am hoping someone can help me out. I have a web application that contains a usercontrol think "employment details" a user can enter a previous employment detail.
I have created a page that contains an update panel a placeholder and a button. The button I want to use to load a new copy of the same usercontrol. Can anyone point me in the right redirect?
A simple poll system that loads questions and possible answers.
I load questions, so that each one is generated as a DIV element and placed inside a DIV element already present in HTML markup.
Next, for each question I load answers, generate them as LinkButtons and add them to the corresponding DIV controls collection.
This all works as expected, the questions and answers are all nicely generated.
Now, all the dynamically created controls are placed in a DIV element that is inside an Update Panel.
HTML MARKUP:
HTML Code: <asp:UpdatePanel ID ="infoUpdate" runat ="server" > <ContentTemplate > <div id ="info" runat ="server" > <asp:Label ID ="infoLabel" runat ="server" ></asp:Label>
[Code] ....
The problem is, that I can't seem to register the dynamically created controls with the UpdatePanel, so when I click a LinkButton it doesn't do a Full PostBack.
Below is the sub I use to generate the controls:
vb.net Code: Private Sub createPoll() Try connection = New SqlConnection(connectionString) connection.Open() ''Get the currently active poll ID Dim sqlQuery As String = "SELECT pollID FROM polls WHERE pollStatusID = 1" Dim myCommand As New SqlCommand(sqlQuery, connection)
[Code] ....
As you can see, I tried adding a handler to each control and then adding the control to the UpdatePanel ContentTemplateContainer, but the clickEvent never gets fired.
I also tried adding triggers for each controls, but it made no difference.
I am quite sure this has to do something with the Page LifeCycle, but I just can't see it.
I'm writing an app in which user can register. While registering the one may choose several options and according to these regiester fields are visible or not and are required or not. I came up with an idea that all fields will be in in the updatePanel and when users changes registration options I would set visibility of these fields on the server side.
It works but incredibly slow and whats more on the FF I have the given error:
The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted
3 checkboxes with other fields are in the updatePanel
Each field is in dl tag with runat="server>
I had to do it like that cause for "required" option I simply add css class to this dl (need in in javascript validation. If field should be visible I set visible="false" for given dl and then that field for example FirstName with title and so on isn visible after postback.
Am I doing something wrong ? Why does it take so long (~4 min on localhost) and in firefox it doesnt really work (when I use debug I think that process completes without errors on ff, I dont understand that at all :)
If update Panel is so weak what would be other option to change visibility and adding required class to all dls. Logic is quite complicated and has to make query to DB so simple javascript would be quite tricky.
Oh and I'm using ASP.Net and cant upgrade on this project.
