View 2 RepliesI've been using a repeater to build a website's site map page by binding to the web.sitemap file. For example, to display 2 levels of links:
[Code]....
So far, everything works well. However, in some cases, I do not want to display certain pages in the site map. I've added a custom attribute to each node (nodisplay= 'true').How can i check for this attibute, and avoid it from being displayed by in the repeater.
i want to build dynamic sitemap from database..even my menu items are also dynamic...and i want do display sitemap having categories and related menu items from database..
so i dont know how to build dynamic site and create dymanic links of that menus and categories..
Is there a way to have 2 different menus that have their items populate from 2 separate sitemap datasources?
Currently I have one menu that is populating correctly from one sitemap. I would like to remove some items from this menu and have them in another menu positioned somewhere else on my page. How can I make this second menu populate these items from a seperate datasource?
I managed to dynamically add nodes to my sitemap at runtime, but the changes are not reflected in my menu (which is populating from the sitemap) unless I restart the application (restart the webserver). Is there a way to trigger the event of regenerating the sitemap, and thus triggering the menu to repopulate with the new nodes?

But i need to also create a sitemap and display when the relevant menu or submenu item is selected
I'm looking for an automated way to inventory all the links within an asp.net project that I inherited.
View 1 RepliesI have a CMS that allows an administrator to add/create pages for his website.
When a page is created a SiteMapNode is added to the web.sitemap file with the an url , title and resourceKey.
Now I wish to add a resourcekey to the appropriate web.sitemap.resx file(located in App_GlobalResources).
I have tried many different ways :
- using XMLDocument load/save => says I don't have access to write to that resource file
- ResourceReader says the source stream is not valid.
I have an application that consists of 10 pages. But those pages work with query string, those values iam getting from db. For this type of situation how can i build a sitemap. Those values are not fixed those may be increase.
View 3 RepliesRecently, I wrote code that dynamically builds a menu / navbar for my site that uses Reflection upon the [Authorize(Roles="")] attribute to determine what Controllers and ActionMethods should be shown to the user. And it came out really well. See this post for the details on how I did it: [URL]
The next step that I've been thinking about is when the user clicks on the "Controller" listing, it takes the user to the Index page. (eg. [URL] ) Which is perfectly fine, but I was thinking that it would be nice to also have this Index page for each controller dynamically constructed based on the user's roles / permissions. For example, if the Index page from XYZ-Controller might look like:
XYZ-Controller Index
SomeMethod1 -- This method tweaks your widgets
SomeMethod2 -- This method unwinds your widgets, re-orders thems, and then re-winds them, but only on Tuesdays.
SomeMethod3 -- This method will delete some or all of your widgets and then you'll be sad.
I currently use Reflection to iterate thru all my Controllers and all the ActionMethods in each controller. I've been pondering the best way to store the Description of each ActionMethod. (Like, "This method tweaks your widgets.") Do I make my own Attribute called, say, Description which I would use to decorate ActionMethods with. For example it might look like this: [Description("This method tweaks your widgets")]
How to apply theGlobalization and Localization asp.net with C# ....

View 1 Repliesi am facing an issue with crystal report when i deploy my web application in client side. I have a web application developed in visual studio 3.5. We have installed the redistribution of crystal report 11 in the client machine. we have currected the config file and all based on this. but we are getting a runtime error when the application try to load reports.

View 2 RepliesI have a intranet site with Windows Authentication. I have 'Administrator' pages in an 'Administrator' folder that will only show for those in the admin group (windows security group) These pages work
I have a folder with sub folders containing reports. These permissions are broken down for each type of report. They have similar role priveleges. When I test the application, I can navigate to the pages. When I deploy the site live on the intranet the links don't return a page. Error missing link 404. Do I need to set something in IIS?
Now, I've refactored my code to have a data layer, business layer and the main project as the view layer. Next I'd like to split this big project smaller projects based on discrete functionality. As I understand it, one way to handle a shared masterpage is to copy it into each project, that's not the worst thing, it hasn't changed in over a year and if it does it's easy enough to propagate the changes out to the other projects.
I was also reading that I could create an assembly from my master page and share it that way. My masterpage.aspx has a reference to a asp.net sitemap, Unlike the masterpage I'd like to maintain only one site map if possible.
I want to build a proxy site that renders any URL. Given an url, I need to replace all html links, css links and js urls from href="/original.htm" to [URL] sort of. How can I do? is there a ready-to-use framework? I use ASP.NET and C#.

I tried to add after the &, as it was suggested on one of the forum but it did not work. Any other ideas.
For comparison: something like the shirt builder application at [URL] Say, if I have fabric image and want to generate base, collar, cuff etc. How should I do it on server side in .NET, and generate different components of shirt.

View 4 RepliesI have seen a lot of examples posted on how to create a Custom SiteMap Provider which is directly linked to the Business Logic in the Presentation Layer, however, I would like to write a Custom SiteMap Provider which inherits from StaticSiteMapProvider and
is driven by the database. In addition, I would like to expose all of this logic behind WCF Services.
Are there any samples on how to implement a Custom SiteMap Provider over WCF Services since I am having a hard time trying to figure out exactly how to put a solution following this architectural pattern together.

How can i modify my code?
i'm doing a website for a school and after uploading the site i get this error when typing in the web address: "Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". "
the problem i have is the hosting company are saying it's not them and their IIS server is supporting .net 2.0 and it must be my code. i have even tried creating a brand new site and uploading that and I still get the same error. Because it's a school website i have to use the local government's hosting company so can't go anywhere else to host it. my question is is there any way i can create a website in .net 1.1 in vs? that way i can try to upload that site and see if it's displayed; at least if it does I can go back to the hosting company and tell them it's their server.
This is not a programming question per se, but rather an attempt to find the adequate technology to use for my objective. My mandate is to build an ASP.NET Web Application. However, on certain pages, some client-side information needs to be fetched by interacting with hardware on the client's computer, for example a barcode reader or an RFID tag reader. My first reflex was to think "ActiveX" controls with, perhaps, some AJAX coding to fetch the required values from said control. However, I am not sure if I am up to date with the latest tech trends. The solution I'm looking for will let me design a user control that plugs into my ASP.NET Web Application, lets me interact with client-side hardware, and can be automatically downloaded from the Web Application itself (I can't predict which computers will access my Web Application). Which technology(ies) should I go for?
