View 3 RepliesWe are currently updating our policy page on our intranet. Currently the page is written in ASP and connects to an Excel spreadsheet that serves as an index, which contains policy name and number. We also have a directory that contains all of the policiesnamed the policy number. The control that is currently being used will get all of the policies listed in the index and create links for them. We do not have to manually create the hundreds of links we just update the index. Does anyone have an idea of a control or a way I can accomplish this in asp.net?
View 1 RepliesBasically I need multiple code-behind files each containing different functions for a page. Different classes do not do this because they are not connected to the page so their methods require parameters I want direct control of the page without the need for parameters.
I can only seem to crete one code-behind file and I need many. I've tried putting the aspx page in the App_Code folder but this causes an error.
I want to create a folder (titled their userid) for each user for Images they upload. I also want to name their files as their username + 1 or 2 or 3... whatever number of images they have.

View 1 RepliesI've had a crack at creating a windows desktop application to convert a csv into an xml file, and for a beginner I think I did a pretty good job. I tried to use LINQ which building the structure, but noticed that it only worked on complete tags, it didn't seem to let me specify part of a document. So instead, I used LINQ on complete tags, but where I had to leave it open to perform some loops and if statements, I had to create a string that looked like xml, not really ideal as I had to manually do all of the indentations and open and close speech marks all over the place. I should point out that I'm not trying to create a static xml file. If the structure is something like the following:
<root>
<firstTag></firstTag>
<secondTag></secondTag>
<thirdTag>
<forthTag></forthTag>
<forthTag></forthTag>
<forthTag></forthTag>
</thirdTag>
</root>
I don't know in advance how many "forthTag"s will appear between the "thirdTag"s, so I know that from "root" to "thirdTag" is static, but beyond that, I need to run a lot of code to see how many times I should repeat the forthTag. I'm not sure if I've put forward my question very well, but in summary, I want to create xml using LINQ but without being forced to close my tags. I've got the program working perfectly well, but I'd like to learn to do it the most efficient way possible.
I need to create .pdf , .excel , .doc , .csv files in MVC.
View 1 RepliesI followed the instructions from the release notes, except for one thing. I did not include the following in my web.config. Thas the the "bindingRedirect oldversion 1.0.0.0 to newVersion 2.0.0.0". I got an error message to the effect that I could not have 2 configuration sections in the web.config. I was told that as long as I had the system.web.mvc 2.0.0.0 in my BIN and, I was refereincing this same version dll that I should be fine? I am wondering if I should just create a new MVC2 project and copy my MVC1 relevent files into this MVC2 project, not sure.
View 1 RepliesI created a HttpHandler for downloading files from the server. It seems it is not handling anything...I put a breakpoint in the ProcessRequest, it never goes there.
public class DownloadHandler : IHttpHandler
{
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
//download stuff and break point
}
}
It never stops there, as mentioned. I also registered it in the web.config.
<add verb="*" path="????" type="DownloadHandler" />
I am not sure about the path part of that entry. What do I have to enter there? I am downloading txt files, but the URL does not contain the filename, I somehow have to pass it to the handler. How would I do this? Session maybe?
I am working in asp.net application and need to download an installer package from the webserver to the client machine.My installer would contain..

I have a web service I need to connect to. But when trying to connect to it through visual studios, I get this error. The request failed with HTTP status 405: Method Not Allowed. I have the wsdl files on my location machine. I was told to create the proxies from these. The problem is I'm not quite sure how. This seems to be a little over my head right now. Not the best project to learn WCF or WSE on. Does anyone know how to create the proxies from wsdl files on my local machine. The services themselves are pretty simple, they just have security elements in the headers. UsernameToken. And then some custom fields.
