Web Forms :: How To Execute Java Script From VB To Display A PDF File In A New Window
Feb 28, 2011
I want to execute java script from VB to display a PDF file in a new window after a double click event on a listbox and have the following code in Page_Startup:
lbDocuments.Attributes.Add("ondblclick", ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(lbDocuments, "ViewDocument"))
If Request("__EVENTARGUMENT") = "ViewDocument" Then
TempString = "~/Resources/" & txtRecordNumber.Text & "/" & lbDocuments.Text
'txtRecordNumber.Text = "ABC123"
'lbDocuments.Text="ABC123 Document 1 (2011-02-22).pdf"
TempString = "<script type=""text/javascript"">window.open('" & TempString & "','_newtab');</script>"
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "ViewDocument", TempString, True)
End If
I have tested the above time after time and each double click event registers correctly and the string containing the script (TempString) populates correctly, at least so it appears to me, but the new window is not displayed.
I have a set of doc files with respect to the data in the sql. Now I have to C# code, so that when the column in the gridview is clicked then the respective name must appear ina linklabel in the windows form nad that label must be linked to the respective file. For eg:
name bacteria author citation aaa myxo sri 12-333-3 vvv mmm xxx 1112-2-2
the values unser sitation must come to the linklabel and that must direct to the respective word files with the names 12-333-3,1112-2-2. Is it possible to do this some how as this is only one example I have many files as such. Is one label enough to perform the necessary action updating itself when I clicked the different columns in the datagrid view as I already did some coding recording linking each column value to a textbox.
I have created a Java Applet that will be used in IE to print images from a remote server. I load the applet in a new popup window from my main web page and it prints fine, but it locks up the new popup browser window while it is printing. When the print job is complete the popup window becomes responsive again. The main browser window remains functional during the printing. Is there something I can do during the printing process to cause it to yield so the popup does not lock up?
I have FileUpload column in my table, File path are stored in database and file are stored in folder. i have linkbutton to upload, if i click on linkbutton pdf file should open in new tab. i don't know how to do this.
is it possible to automatically populate a file upload control's file for automated testing and server stress. I have one upload control (that simply brings up the browse and selects the file) and a button that uploads the selected fileupload control's file. Is it possible to give the file upload control a file pather "C:myImage.jpg" and submit the file by pressing the upload butto:
how to execute a sub procedure when returning a value from a popup window?
Ex.
in my parent form, this is the sub procedure i made SearchRecord(), after selecting a record from a child form (popup window), the SearchRecord() from parent form will execute..
I am maintaining a website that has .Aspx web pages with no code behind C# files. This has been a challenge for me, because I need to do the following:
1.) When the page first loads, display a Java Script popup message box.
So how can I do this if I don not have a code behind C# file where I can check for isPostback in the on page load method? Can the on page load method be placed inline in the .aspx code? Anyway I need to figure out how to answer my question 1 above.
I need one common rounding function in asp.net and I will use that function in Java script, Code behind (.vb file) and SQL server (Stored Procedure). Is there any possible solutions in this requirement?
I'm decommissioning a meeting room scheduling [web] tool in favor of the same Outlook's functionality.I'd like, however, to publish (read-only) a "Group Schedule" view in a web page.
To make the idea more clear:
On Outlook's Calendar view, select Actions / View Group Schedules and then create a new group for say, Conference Rooms.This new view will give a global view of Conference Rooms occupancy. I need a way to publish this room's occupancy.
have a gridview in that i have checkbox and file upload controls and common submit button outside gridview.if i checked a row checkbox and i need to check whether the file upload control contains any value or not.if checkbox is checked and file upload control contains values then i will insert the details into database table.if not means i will show a message. if not checked means its not a problem no need to validate the control. how to do this..
I'm new to java and android, originally from an asp.net/c# background.I am looking for a config file in java, similar to the webconfig of app config with .net but there doesn't seem to be one.
I'm looking for a way to access a Java API from both a Java console application and an ASP.Net application.In short my Java API exposes a series of methods for dealing with invoices. All of these methods are essentially commands e.g.
All methods will interact with the database. I had believed Web Services was going to be my means for interop. But I have since been made aware of Java Stored Procedures in Oracle.
I am relatively new to ASP.NET. I am just wondering if there is way to read values from properties file (similar to rading a properties file from JSP or java).
For example if a property file has something similar to this:
[Code]....
I would like to read all the values for username_list (comma seperated) and also the value of is_valid.
I have a web app which displays some data in a GridView. This GridView is populated with a method called BindGrid. The user selectes one or more rows from the grid, then clicks the Process button. What needs to happen is that the selected rows are assembled into a CSV file which is downloaded to the browser, then the database is updated to reflect which rows were selected, and the grid is refreshed so the previously selected rows are no longer displayed. This all sort of works, except...
My code is below, which is very similar to lots of snippets found in this forum.
The problem is that if I uncomment Response.End(), or replace it with ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest, it all works great except none of the code after Response.End() executes, and so the log entry is not made and the grid is not refreshed.
If I comment Response.End(), as in the snippet below, the code following does run, including the log entry and the call to BindGrid. (I know that because log entries inside BindGrid are made.) However, the page does not refresh. If I press F5 to refresh the page, it redraws correctly refreshed.
So the question is, how do I refresh the page after downloading the file?
I have tried calling both Response.Redirect and Server.Transfer after BindGrid
I'm trying to install absolute content rotator and I execute SQL file and all stuff get put into the tables etc but when I go to the place where I uploaded the content editor I get this error below.
I have a Java Script method that is called from an Aspx page named Default.aspx. The Java Script method is calledwhen a linked button on that page is pressed.
function Redir() { window.status=""; va urlGetit = "ConvertToExcel.aspx?" + "&test=" + 7; xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET",urlGetit,true) }
This Java Script method then calls my Code behind file named ConvertToExcel.aspx.cs" where I build an MS Excel file
I have option page to my Project which has Status,Issu,HMR,DFG buttons on center of the webform, every page will redirect to another page if you click on this option buttons,Now i wanted to change this .. I want to split the page keep all options buttons on left of the screen when you click option buttons corresponding web page should open in Right of the screen,how can i do this one.I am working on visual web developer2008(Asp>net3.5)
I'm using a jQuery Menu in my Masterpage. This masterpage is used for several pages in the root directory of the webapplication. Now i have a page in a sub-directory and all the image-, stlyesheet and javascript-files paths are invalid there. I solved it almost by using servercontrols, tilde(~) and adding scriptreferences to the ScriptManager as you can see here:
[code]....
I could use absolute paths, but that would work only on the productive system and not on the development systems. Is there no other way to handle this?
Just a bit of advice needed really in terms of how I should handle my current scenario:
I have a web page that searches for products/category information the results of which are at present displayed in a gridview on the same page.
However, said gridview is a bit of a beast and as such, I would like to have a page that the user searches for, a button is pressed and the subsequent gridview is displayed in a new window.
Ultimately, I would like the user to be able to make multiple searches so that new windows can have multiple gridviews containing different data sets.
My current thinking is to create session variables that can be pulled through onto 'the gridview page'. Having said that, I'm not sure that would work if multiple searches are created?
I am also thinking I might be able to create said 'gridview window' using javascript but my concern here is the potential loss of functionality of the gridview i.e. paging, sorting, editing, etc.
Does anyone have any thoughts or theories on this? What would be "best practise"?
