Web Forms :: How To Find The Postback Cause Control And Event
Jun 13, 2010
When I click a server side control, such as linkbutton, I have to do something on Page_Init or Page_Load. How do I find the right LinkButton if I have many LinkButtons in this page. You know that Page_Init or Page_Load is execute before LinkButton_Click.
I have a drop down list (created during form design) with auto postback enabled. And I use AJAX to prevent 'visible postback'.
When a user choose an item from the drop down list, the system will then perform a postback and created a set of form control's such as label, drop down list and text box for entry.
Then, I will have a button (created during form design), and when I click on the button, i want to find for the form control that are created after the post back, but I cant find them!
I wonder if those form controls are render to the web form?? But I have no problem finding the drop down list that is created during design time.
I have a Gridview which contains templated column that has 5 checkboxes in it. When you click on one checkbox, I want to uncheck the other 4.
I am using the Item Template for this. I don't want the user to have to Select a row, before clicking on the checkboxes. Here is my non-working code to uncheck the other checkboxes. I realize it's not "SelectedRow" that I want since there's no selected row, so how do I find the row containing the checkbox that fired off CheckChanged?
In the last cell of my gridview I have 2 separate linkbuttons. I want to further process them using Gridview Onrowcommand event but How would I know which particular link has actually raised the event.
I know silverlight page doesn't make postback itself but does event fired from silverlight control postback whole asp.net page If this silverlight,control embedded in aspx page?
I am unable to find any control in row editing event of gridview that i have put in edit template. I have to populate the dropdown control so that in editing the user can select value from the control.
How ever i can access the controls in row updating .But i need it in row editing event.
I have a panel which has a repeater within it. Within the repeater I have a few controls. One of those controls is a Drop Down list which has an OnSelectedIndexChanged event. I can get this to fire without issue but I cannot find my DropDownList control within that repeater within the SelectedIndexChanged event . The repeater has an OnItemDataBound event and I can use the RepeaterItemEventArgs to find the control using e.Item.FindControl("ControlName") without issue but when that event occurs is NOT when I need to find the DropDownList.
What I want to do is have another control's Visible property be set to "true" when the value of the DropDownList meets a certain value. As far as I know I can only do this during the SelectedIndexChanged event and I can't change the signature of the event by trying to use RepeaterItemEventArgs.
I need to access the controls dynamically created template fields at run time in datagrid in post back event. Is there any way to retrieve the values in post back event? Or else give the ideas to acheive my requirement. I need to create no of rows and columns as text box as per user input. After fill the values to text box , i need to access the values in submit button.
GridViewRow row = (GridViewRow)(((Repeater)e.CommandSource).NamingContainer); Repeater _rpt1 = row.Cells[8].FindControl("rptReg") as Repeater;
error:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Repeater'.
is there a way i can have the below code in OnRowCommand event using GridView?
actually i am trying to delete the row from the gridview control and when the user click on it and i am grabbing the mulitple ids and passing to SP and update the table and databind the gridview
GridViewRow row = gv.SelectedRow; Repeater _rpt = gv.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[8].FindControl("rptReg") as Repeater; Repeater _rpt1 = gv.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[9].FindControl("rptVisitor") as Repeater; foreach (RepeaterItem item in _rpt.Items) { TextBox _txt = item.FindControl("txtId") as TextBox; TextBox _txt1 = item.FindControl("txtName") as TextBox; //update db }
I have a link button embedded in a repeater but I can't figure out how to get the exact postback reference of the control so I can access it in JavaScript. Bear in mind this code is a little pseudocodish/partial anyway and I am fixing someone else's code.
I just can't seem to get the right postback JavaScript - the form posts but doesn't fire the item command event or pass the
Protected Sub repResults_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.RepeaterItemEventArgs) Handles repResults.ItemDataBound Dim hypInsertBCard As LinkButton = e.Item.FindControl("hypInsertBCard") Dim myPostBackOptions As PostBackOptions = New PostBackOptions(hypInsertBCard) myPostBackOptions.AutoPostBack = True myPostBackOptions.RequiresJavaScriptProtocol = True myPostBackOptions.PerformValidation = False Dim strRef As String = ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(myPostBackOptions) hypInsertBCard.Attributes.Add("onkeypress", strRef) End Sub
I know this topic has been posted before but I'm stuck on it still.I've placed creating of dynamic control on Page_Load but the event isn't firing.On my asp page, i have <asp:PlaceHolder ID="test" runat="server/>On my code behind, I have private display method.
private void DisplayButton() { LinkButton btn = new LinkButton(); btn.ID="unit_1";
I have a control which has an ImageButton which is tied to an OnClick event... Upon clicking this control, a postback is performed and the event handler is not called. AutoEventWireup is set to true, and I've double checked spelling etc.... We haven't touched this control in over a year and it has been working fine until a couple of weeks ago.
We have made changes to controls which load this control... so I'm wondering, what kind of changes could we have made to stop this event handler from being called? There is quite a bit of Javascript going on, so this could be the culprit too...
On my page: a Button1, a ListView1, a Panel1 and inside Panel1 an ImageButton1In the ListView1_PreRender-Event the property Panel1.Visible = false or Panel1.Visible = true is set.1. After first loading of the Page Panel.Visible = false ist set in ListView1_PreRender.2. After the postback click on Button1 the criteria for the visibility of Panel1 are evaluated, thus setting in the ListView_PreRender Panel.Visible = true.
I have a script that runs during the Page_Load() event which checks a database table to make sure that the user is still owns the lock on the page. If they no longer own the lock, I disable all the controls on the page and display an error message.My thinking was that by disabling all controls during Page_Load() I could prevent any PostBack events from occuring. For example, I have a button on the page called "Save and Quit"
I've created a UserControl that is dynamically placed onto my page during the Init event. It populates and works great, but I'm left scratching my head at how to retrieve data from it during a postback.
It's effectively a multipick combobox that is manipulated entirely using clientside JavaScript (I'm using jQuery heavily). Inside the control container element, I render an empty DIV element that contains all of the selected items. As the user selects items, I generate DIVs within that container DIV that includes some markup. Of interest to me on the server side are the contents of a couple of INPUT fields.
After selecting an item, the rendered HTML looks something like:
[code]....
I may be completely off track and this may actually be impossible (or a stupid idea). The only alternative I can think of is to emit actual ASP.NET controls and hook the built-in event handlers.
1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.
