I have a function on page load which will work based on dropdown selected value. and I am using this dropdown in a user control. So getting problem because the dropdown value is not loaded yet before Page Load. How Can I do that using those control still.

For insertion, I have dropdown inside a form.
The dropdown is linked with sqldatasource which is retreiving distinct records from table.
In table there is no NULL value.
What I want to do that when user will access Insert page to insert record then like all textboxes, dropdown should also load with NULL value.

TblSections with datafields sectionId(numeric) and Description.
There is another table Users with field sectionId and UProfile.
There is a gridview grvResult bounded by objecdatasource configured to TblFltReg.
TblFltReg has field Owner(numeric).
Actually Owner and SectionId are same.
I don't know how to do this task.

I have a page with 14 dropdown lists. In the first page load (ie. not isPostback) I set the selectedIndex of the dropdownlists individually but I find that they are all set to the value I use for the last dropdownlist set. Here is the code
comboFirstJudge1.SelectedIndex = 0
comboFirstJudge2.SelectedIndex = 0
<so on for all the dropdown lists until the last one>
comboFirstJudge14.SelectedIndex = 4
The result is that all dropdown lists have SelectedIndex = 4. If I run the same code on a postback it works just fine (the first lists have SelectedIndex = 0 and the last one = 4).
I have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...
I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:
FordTampa_customer is a table,
ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....
All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...
So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.
All right, on to the real point of my post...
Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.
I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:

I am not sure how to take those names from the table and do another select based on that list of names.
I have a dropdown control that has a list of names in it called PlayerNameDropDownList_Insert and a textBox called PlayerName.
When I select a name from the dropdown it populates the textbox correctly.However, when the page opens the first name is selected in the dropdown but nothing in the textbox. How can I get the textbox to populate with the value of the dropdown at pageload?

I am new to Linq to Sql. I was wondering if there was a way that I could override the default naming convention on the tables in the .DBML file. I am asking because the person who designed the database I am using prefaced all of the table names with DGIS_. For instance, my customer table is called DGIS_Customers. I would prefer that the classes in the DBML file be called Customer, not DGIS_Customer.

This causes "selected value does not exist" errors. So I force a databind, and add a new element if it does not exist in the data source.
However it looks like when the databind is performed later in the page lifecycle that my added element(s) are removed/overwritten.
Am I setting the values in the wrong part of the life cycle?
I have managed to place a dropdown control iniside a gridview control. The dropdown does indeed populate in each row... Question: How is it possible for the system to correctly select the text in the dropdown based on the value of the field which is driven from the database? Is it to do with the selectedvalue?
View 7 RepliesI'm trying to setup a page that will utilize a dropdown list control inside of a grid view control using VS 2005 2.0 version. Everything that I can find online seems to only show the use of the dropdown list control using a data grid. I don't want to use a data grid because it doesn't have the functionality/ power as the grid view control. how I can incorporate a dropdown list control with the grid view control?
