I have a Webform with a large number of user controls on it, they were auto generated as part of a formview.
I would like a way (Add in etc) to print a list of all of the names of the controls for me to use for the code, rather than having to go through and write them all down.
does anyone know of an add in or an easy way to do this in VS2010..?
I have a webform on which i display all the details of a particular record now i want to give my client print functionality so he can print those detail. Can this be done in asp.net and if yes then how?
View 4 RepliesI have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...
I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:
FordTampa_customer is a table,
ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....
All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...
So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.
All right, on to the real point of my post...
Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.
I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:

I am not sure how to take those names from the table and do another select based on that list of names.

I am using a server control on a single web.forms page. I have to use this control on a web.forms page since its a server control, although this is actually a MVC project. So I created a web.forms folder and put my new page in it. I then copy the example code from the signature control. I get the following error:
The base class includes the field 'ctrlSign', but its type (WebSignatureCapture.SignatureControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.signaturecapture_signaturecontrol_ctlsignature_ascx).
I know the code works because if I removed the ID attribute from the server control, it no longer gives me this error and my control renders. But I need the attribute for the ID so I can perform is post event

How to list all names of controls in a page?
i seem to have a problem with my gridview, i have a gridview with a list of names, this gridview is assign to a datasource and the datasource already has a select statement to display a list of names to my gridview, and i have a search dialog which i use to filter data to be displayed on my gridview, my problem iS after filtering , when a user select a certain row the gridview refreshes and display the initial data(it binds again the use the default setted select query). On my search i use
SqlDatasourceName.SelectedComman = filterQuery;
SqlDatasourceName.DataBind();
GridviewName.DataBind();
to filter the grid according to my search criteria, which is the one i have assigned its select to the string varieble filterQuery.
That works fine, and dispaly only d data i setted my search to retrieve, bt my problem is when a user select a row on d gridview , d gridview is repopulated with d initial data(Use initially datasource select statment). How to make d grid to stick to d select statement that i setted on my search and not letting it to go back to the initial setted select.

I tried installing the report viewer patch from [URL] and installed the same on all the three servers ... and have restarted too!
It is not working on production environment and the same is working in development environment

I have a web form with some textboxes and dropdownlists. I created a Web User Control with other controls (other textboxes) inside it. Now I need to call from the web control source code the values that the controls in my web page have. How do I do it?
I need to pull a list of supplies from a db table and list them along with two textboxes (one for quantity, and another for manufacturer)
so the list would look something like this.
checkbox for supply 1 | Quantity | Manufacturer

I also need to store all of the checked items in a db table. I'm not sure how i should go about doing this. I've heard some talk about a repeater control being useful but i've not come across any examples that do this type of thing.

I have an ASP.NET webform where I initialize an array with a list of controls on the page like this
FileUpload[4] = new FileUpload[4];

I then use these in the page load and they are all null. they are null in the constructor but why should they be null when used in the page load.

View 2 RepliesI have a custom list earthquakes which contains a list of earthquakes. How do I parse this in JavaScript in order to add it to innerHtml and display on the screen. The problem is that I cannot get this to display on the screen in a div. When it parses I get no result because my javascript is wrong and if I try just printing the result i get [Object object]

Currently, I have many controls and objects such as Chart1 of mschart as part of the public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page.
At the bottom, I've created a second class that is not part of the _Default webform class. How can I access the webform controls from this second class?
For example, I want to do
Chart1.Series["Series1"].Points.AddXY((pointIndex + 1) * 40, datapoints[pointIndex]);
I want to pass pointIndex integer and the datapoints array.
I know that Chart1 was created protected global access modifier in the designer.cs but when I changed it to public, it still had a problem.
