Web Forms :: How To Programmatically Retrieve The Proxy Server To Submit A Web Request
Jan 12, 2010
I am trying to make a web request programmatically. When i submit the request through the browser it seems to work fine but when i programmatically submit the request it comes back with this error message "Unable to connect to the remote server"
Below is the code i am using to executing the command,
[Code]....
[Code]....
I assume the reason why i am getting the error message is because the proxy server has not been set programmatically. Can somebody tell me how i can get the proxy server and set it programmatically?

We are using 2 ISA proxy servers in front of our webserver and are getting intermittant Ajax errors in our application.
Our web logs indicate that there are 407 errors occurring during the requests.
When other users hit the webserver directly this issue does not occurr and this is also not an issue in IE8 but is in IE7.
The error dialog has Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException and the details say "error parsing near '<!DOCTYPE html P'

I have login control on a non secure site. When a user enter user name and password from the non secure and click the login button, the information should be captured or posted to another login control on the secure site and authenticate the user on the secure site. I read about ways to transfer the data to the next page (secure site in my case) but I am not sure how to pass the user name and password to the control on the secure site and get the user logged in automatically.

I have started having problems with our asp.net webform applications running behind a proxy since the user base have upgraded to IE7. Some postbacks seem to drop out and at times it is difficult to make controls on a page raise an event. It appears to be intermittant and I have been told there are issues around using IE7 behind a proxy with post requests. Is this the case and what are the options? Rewite in MVC? Does the issue of post requests behind a proxy remain in IE8?

I have aproblem that when i add some special character in the textbox and submit the page it give error. A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$txtname="<test>"). I found the solution of this porblem by ValidateRequest="false". But if i do this then the request will not be validate and then attacks probablity will be increase. what should i do to for this whithout using ValidateRequest attribute.

03 - Find out specific content in a page (for example looking for specific keywords).
Also how to implement:

I am running into a strange problem I don't fully understand. The main symptom is that when I double click a link (that points to a controller action) in my MVC application, my database server connection gets blown, and I get the error :
Execution of the command requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is broken.
If I step through starting at a breakpoint at the top of the controller action, it will step down a couple lines and then jump back up to the breakpoint. Somehow the first request isn't executing fully before the second one gets there, and somehow my database connection breaks when it gets to any query. Every time this happens, I have to restart the application server.
It was happening intermittently at first, but the double clicking of links seems to reproduce it everytime. Does this happen to anyone else? What am I missing here?
Update :
A.) I incorrectly tagged this as Linq-to-sql when we are actually using Linq-to-entities.
B.) The connection object is defined as a member variable of the controller :
[Code]....
I noticed in some of the asp.net tutorials they declare the variable in the same spot but have a separate constructor for the controller where the db object is initialized. Does this make any difference?
C.) The problem is not only with the double-clicking as described above. The connection breaks at other seemingly random times; I cannot seem to reproduce the error consistently (even double-clicking does not always break it). Restarting the web site usually fixes it, although sometimes I have to restart the host machine. After its back up, repeating the same sequence of actions usually does not reproduce the same error!
Maybe there's something I don't understand about setting up my linq-to-entities classes or the nature of the database connection. Does anyone have any thoughts? I really don't even know how to investigate this one!

I am working on a page where we have a form that the user is filling some information in. When the form is submitted I want to process the information and then redirect to an external server. The catch is that I need post data to go to the external server so a redirect will not work.
Is there a way to programmatically submit a form request with post data?
For the sake of a ridiculous example let's say on http://A.com I have an asp.net page with two inputs that accept numbers and a submit button. When the button is clicked I want to send a post to http://B.com with a post data parameter "AdditionTotal" which contains the sum of the two numbers entered.

I am running an ASP.Net page on IIS7, and developing in VS 2008. Currently, I have user authentication being done through an LDAP connection. Once the user logs in, on one page they have a form with some basic information about them (such as their name, email address, country, and the like) and I wish to pre populate some of these fields from information already stored in the LDAP. In particular their given name and email addresses. The question is, using C#, how do I actually retrieve this information?

I have a website [URL]. Recently I found out that somebody has set up a reverse proxy with an almost identical url "www.website1.com" in front of my website.
I'm concerned of those users who came to my website through that reverse proxy. Their username and passwords might be logged when they login.
Is there a way for me to have my web server refuse reverse proxy?
For example, I've set up a reverse proxy using squid with the url "www.fakestackoverflow.com" in front of "www.stackoverflow.com". So whenever I type "www.fakestackoverflow.com" in my web browser address bar, I'll be redirected to "www.stackoverflow.com" by the reverse proxy. Then I notice the url in my address bar changed to "www.stackoverflow.com" indicating that I'm no longer going through the reverse proxy.
"www.stackoverflow.com" must've detected that I came to the website from another url and then redirected me to the website through the actual url.

Basically the scenario is like this, I'm getting an XML from a 3rd party application with available dates for booking, for each day there are types of rooms the person can choose, single, double, etc.
Each hostel will return me an unknown number of room types. But dont get too confused with this. The thing is simple I just need to add an unknown number of dropdownlists (or HTML Select) with the numbers of persons to book for. Now because I don't know how many of those dropdowns I will have I need to add them programatically inside a "for int i=0; i
How can I add an unknownn number of dropdownlists programatically to a page and retrieve the selected values with c# on submit?The last column on the screenshot
http://i.imgur.com/37chw.png
Update:I'm creating the code from the xml results as a string that will print as html code:
XmlDocument xmlDoc2 = new XmlDocument();
xmlDoc.LoadXml(getPrices());
XmlNodeList prices = xmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName("RoomType"); [code]...
I know that doing that and adding the runat=server won't help on my control, there is where my main problem is now, how to add the code on the html to be able to get the dropdownlist selected value later with c#. Can I do that with Request.Form ? was trying but so far I couldnt do it.

I have a web method in second.aspx,which has to be executed only if the incoming request is 'application/json'.So in my First.aspx page I am programmatically generating a Http request with content type set to 'application/json' using the following code.
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://localhost/website1/Second.aspx");
req.ContentType = "application/json";
HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse();
StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(resp.GetResponseStream());
string results = sr.ReadToEnd();

I have a form that a user fills out and can input html or other text into a textarea. I have the validaterequest attribute set to false on the page. However, when I submit the form with any html characters it bombs saying that it detected the potentially dangerous request field and to make validaterequest=false. I've already done this so I'm not sure why it's not working. I've done this many times before and never had this problem. Anyone run into this before and if so, is there a fix? I don't want to update my web.config and apply it site wide.

I have an ASP.NET app that logs Audit reports using nHibernate's IPreUpdateListener. In order to set the current user in the Listener events, I was using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(). This works fine when debugging on my machine, but when I move it to the staging server, I'm getting the ASP.NET process credentials, not the requesting user.
In the ASP.NET page, I can use Request.LogonUserIdentity (which works fine since I'm using integrated authentication), but how do I reference this user directly without having to pass it directly to my event? I don't want to have to pass this info through the pipeline because it really doesn't belong in the intermediate events/calls.
