Web Forms :: HttpWebRequest Initially Slow To Respond / What Is Reason
Sep 13, 2010
I'm not sure if this belongs here since it doesn't seem to be a coding issue but...
I am having an issue with using httpwebrequest - the first time I run HttpWebRequest on a page there is a 5-10 second lag before it returns the data I am looking for. It doesn't matter from what source I am polling the lag is always there so it has nothing to do with the sites I am connecting to.
After I poll the first time as long as the page is reloaded within 1 and a half minutes afterwards the httpwebrequest response is lightning fast.
If I wait a minute and a half to 2 minutes without reloading the page the lag returns again.
I've tried everything related to tweaking the httpwebrequest settings and none have had any impact whatsoever.
If it helps I have older pages that use classic asp that behave the exact same way when returning data from external websites so it seems to me like a server issue.
I am using VS 2010 and ASP.NET 4.0. I have the ASP:Menu in the top of my master page and it's orientation property is set to horizontally. I have a problem with some pages that take a long time to load data. The problem I am having is that when these slow pages load, the menu is initially vertical and then switches to horizontal after few seconds which doen't look good. I have tried to change Orientation in MenuItemDataBound but no difference.
I have a .net Chart Control working beautifully in IE, but when I test it in Firefox, the chart initially does not show up. I do a shift+reload and it then does show up (?)
1) I have the .net Chart Control set to run in memory in the web.config:
i have just started making an asp document using c# codes

right now i have a droplistbox in my design.. when i select others, a text box will appear and allow user to enter the new email address. however, i would like the text box to appear invisible to the user when he enters this asp page initially. how do i go about doing it?
just another question.. Supposed that if the user chooses "Others" and entered a new email address in the textbox and i want him to be able to see this new email address as an option in the future when he runs this asp file again. is it possible not to set up a SQL server for my application? or can i just use some variables to set as that?
I have some dynamically-changing text, which I would like to appear as a hyperlink (i.e. underlined text which changes colour as you hover the mouse over it). However, I would also like this text to behave like an asp:Button object when the user clicks on it. This is so I can add some VB.NET into the click event of the text. Does anyone know how I can do this?
I am updating a formview and have a textbox inside the formview called title_textbox.Outside the formview I have got a dropdownlist box values: Mr, miss, Sir etc.I want the title_textbox to = to dropdownlist1.selectedItem.value.1. I am unable to edit the templete for some reason2. where do I write the code.3. how do i write the code?
I want to show a grid view Control that is initially displayed to allow the user to enter multiple records. This grid view will not be tied to a database nor will it need to save the data that is enter into the GridView Control directly to a database.
Is there a way to respond to the click event generated by any button on a form?
I am trying to carry out a response.redirect( 'button id' & ".aspx"), can it be done?
i.e. If I have a webpage called "button1.aspx" how do I get the button1.click event to trigger the redirect without implicitly coding the click event for the respective button.
I have got 2 Drop Down Lists on my Form and 1 GridView. I want GridView to display the data according to selection from the Drop Down Lists.
For Example, One Drop Down List contains Names and other contains Dates. Both the Drop Down Lists can post back. So if i select a name from 1st Drop Down list, the Grid View should show all the results according to that Name. Similarly if i select the Date from the other Drop Down List , the Grid View should show the results according to the dates. But i cant figure out as how to bind Grid View to respond to 2 Drop Down List.
BTW i am binding both the Drop Down Lists and the Grid View to the DataSource Objects, which is getting data from the database.
VB, .net 4.0, VS 2010. All of the sudden all of my button controls aren't rendering properly. They are in places on the form that make no sense. If I change the button control to any other control name such as an image button, they format corrrectly.
I am getting this error many times in the event log , and users are logged out .
Event code: 4005 Event message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired. Event time: 3/10/2011 3:35:22 PM Event time (UTC): 3/10/2011 8:35:22 PM [code]...
I am not using web farms. I do not think the app pool is recycling , i compared the Process ID in several events and it is equal . My machine key is not AutoGenerate .
My event log is flooded with this message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired.I think this happens when people timeout instead of logout.First of all , this is not an error, it's Type: InformationI don't want this information, how do I stop ASP.NET from logging it?My application is not web-farmed, and uses a static machine key.
I got an error "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond".when i am sending email when attachment.
protected void lbtn_DownloadForm_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { using (StringWriter sw = new StringWriter()) { using (HtmlTextWriter hw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw)) { pnlPerson.RenderControl(hw);
we recently upgrated our project from 1.1 to 2.0. since then we are seeing "Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired" in Event Viewer. this keeps coming 1-2 times for every minute. this is the full message. this also made the response time increased it seems.
Event code: 4005
Event message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired.
I have spent the good part of a full day trying to come up with a solution for this and I have failed.
When the pane loads the problem is the combobox shows but the drop down does not show for it.
I have tried loading the accordion with selectedindex=0 and everything works fine.
I have also tied to set the selectedindex of the accordion in page load but I have not been able to get that to work so not sure if that solution would work or not.
I'm having problems with a modalpopup dialog that briefly appears in a top/left corner of the browser and then - after 1-2 seconds - finally centers itself as expected.
I have no animation or position (i.e. x, y) defined for the dialog. I do have "position: fixed" in a corresponding css file.
The interesting thing is that it always happens in Safari on Win and in IE but only when the popup embeds quicktime activex. As far as I could tell, FireFox, Chrome, and Opera do not have the problem.
The following flash does not initially load in firefox, but if I click the second tab on the right, and then go back to the first, it loads. This works in Chrome and IE. Here is the webpage.
using System; using System.Collections; using System.Configuration; using System.Data; using System.Linq;

I got server error when downloading pdf file from my webpage in asp.net."A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond in asp.net."
If I place a DevExpress ASPxComboBox or ASPxTextBox within a JQueryUI tabs widget, any data that is within a DevExpress control that is not on the initally active tab does not get displayed, although the DevExpress controls themselves are (they are just blank). Removing the tabs functionality for testing (by not calling the JQuery, the html structure remains identical) results in the DevExpress controls working fine.
I have an CalanderExtender in a Update panel that wraps my page. Inisde that it is in a hidden panel the gets shown when they pick what type of information they want to input. The problem is that in Chrome when you click on the Image nothing happens. Though it works fine in IE and Firefox.
