Web Forms :: Javascript On RadioButtonlist Not Working On Page Refresh?

Mar 2, 2011

I have used a radiobuttonlist to enable/disable the textbox in Grid View. I did this using javascript onclick event.

[Code]....

It is working fine when the page get refreshed too.

[Code]....

Then in a scenario, I have removed the radliobuttonlist items (items 2 and 3) dynamically. For the first time when its loaded its working without flaws. After a page is refreshing due to any serverside events, the javascript to enable/disable textbox is not working.

[Code]....

I have verified the HTML file, the radiobuttonlist is loaded without the onclick event.

Web Forms :: RadioButtonList Clears After Page Refresh?

Oct 5, 2010

I'm using a ListView and in both the ItemTemplate and EditItemTemplate I have, amongst other controls, an AsyncFileUpload inside a ModalPopupExtender and a RadioButtonList further down the page. The file upload process works great, but after uploading an image file and inserting it in the page, if you happen to refresh the page at that point, both the buttons of the RadioButtonList clear and one of my validation check for the RBL kicks in and an error message is, of course, displayed.

I have an UpdatePanel around the RadioButtonList, which is confusing because I thought that the purpose of AJAX was to shield the affected control from a refresh that occurs on the rest of the page.

One thing I tried unsuccessfully was to fill the RBL control again. I tried it after many different events (PageLoad, PageLoadCompleted, Databound, etc.), but none of those worked.

Actually, the RBL and DDL controls have been a real pain to deal with in .Net 3.5. Are they any better in 4.0?

AJAX :: Page Refresh Clears RadioButtonList / Giving Error?

Dec 6, 2010

When I refresh a page (either manually or with meta tags) after uploading an image with AsyncFileUpload, it clears out a RadioButtonList I'm using and this causes errors when the user tries to go to another page. The strangest thing is that the RadioButtonList only clears after the first refresh; when I click the RBL back to the original value, then refresh the page, it doesn't affect the RBL anymore.

All the applicable controls are enclosed in Update Panels.

(I wrote about a similar problem in forums.asp.net/t/1609492.aspx but I suspected that that problem had to do with a ModalPopupExtender and AsycnFileUpload combination. However, after removing the MPE, the problem still occurs so now I can only conclude that the AsynchFileUpload is the problem.)

Page Refresh And Bind Not Working?

Jan 3, 2010

I've got a .aspx and in it an .ascx. In the .ascx I have a server control.

The .aspx has a list of items in a cart The .ascx has a list of some cross-sell items (fed from a custom server control) that the customer can add to the cart if desired both the list of items in cart and list of cross sell items are driven by a repeater and bound on page load. So the .aspx calls a method that rebinds the cart items on page load. And the .ascx calls a method in its page load that rebinds the cross sell items in that custom control (.cs) that is in my .ascx.

The problem I have is, when the user clicks a "add to cart" button in the repeater inside my custom control, the page refreshes and what should happen is the cart items in the .aspx AND the list of cross sells should refrsh showing that the cross sell item was moved to the cart. But even though when I debug and I see the list being rebound with the corret # of items after the move, the page still shows the old state. I have to refresh the page manually again to get it to work.

I guess I need to check for Page.IsPostback? but even if I don't check that..at the least both lists should be refreshing regardless cause I have it in my page load. So even if it's a postback, and I'm not checking for that the lists should show the new state because I'm not even checking for postback anyway. So checking for postaback I don't think is the issue here cause i want the lists to rebind and re-update on any page load....initial or if it's a postback...it doesn't matter. Reload every time. But it doesn't seem to be doing this even though I clearly see the revbind of the lists having the right count (one less on the cross sell and one additional to the cart as it was added after the user clicked the button).

Here's the sequence of events:

User is on their cart page User sees a list of cart items that they have added to their cart already (this list is bound in the Cart.aspx and rebound on every page load)User sees a list of possible cross sell items they can add to their cart somewhere on the page. This list is a custom control found in my .ascx and that .ascx is obviously in my .aspx.

The custom control is just a repeater that lists out the cross sell itemsUser clicks one of the "Add to cart" buttons on one of the cross sells Page refreshes. In the page load of the .aspx AND the .ascx, I am going out to the DB and rebinding both those lists based on the new state...that is, the new lists after the item was added to the cart which means that now the cart items should have one more added to the list and it does...I clearly see that the new list has one more.

The page comes back after the refresh but I don't see the lists reflecting the new state...I don't see the new item in the cart items list and the added cross sell removed from the cross sell list even though again both lists when I debug are showing correct set of records reflecting the new state.

Refresh Page Isn't Working Using Treeview

Javascript - Refresh Parent Page After Greybox Close?

Dec 24, 2010

I have a blog, where people can make comments. I've now decided to put the "writecomments.aspx" file in a Greybox popup-window. It works, but I want to close the window from codebehind (or javascript) after the comment is written. And then I want to refresh the blog page (the parent page) to show the new comment.

This is the code that opens the greybox (writecomments.aspx) page:

<a href='WriteComments.aspx?BlogId=<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container, "DataItem.id") %>' rel="gb_page_center[500, 500]">Skriv kommentar</a>

In the writecomments.aspx file, I just have 2 textboxes and 1 button (save-button). How can I make the greybox window close itself, and then somehow refresh the blog.aspx? Or maybe just a specific updatepanel for the current comments?

Edit

I got it working, I had to put this code in the codebehind, after the db-insert: Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "close", "parent.parent.GB_hide();", true); And for the refresh of the parent page, I edited the gb_scripts.js file on line 12 from false to true: this.reload_on_close=true;

EDIT AGAIN

Actually, I modified it a bit, so, I put the gb_scripts.js file back to it's default state, and I just just the followig line of code in the WriteComments.aspx codebehind file, just after the db-insert:

Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "close", "parent.parent.window.location.reload();parent.parent.GB_hide();", true);

Now, the Greybox is closing, and then, the blog page is refreshing, just like I want :)

Web Forms :: Clearing A RadioButtonList With Javascript?

Sep 24, 2010

I'm posting this here because my question isn't really about the javascript itself but about the workings of the RadioButtonList control. I have a webforms application where a several radiobuttonlist controls are rendered dynamically from server side code. I want to also render an undo button that will clear the associated radiobuttonlist. I can get it to work fine using an image button that does a postback. However, I'd like to do it without the postback, waiting until the entire form is filled out before posting back via a submit button. I've been able to get it to clear the radio buttons via javascript. However, when I click submit to post back to the server, the server thinks the radiobutton is still selected. Here's a condensed version of the code thatrenders the controls.

[Code]....

At run time, the radiobuttonlists and their associated undo buttons are rendered just fine. If the user selects an option from a radiobuttonlist and then decides they didn't want to answer that question, they can click the undo button and in the browser the correct radiobuttonlist is cleared. However, when they submit, it still saves whatever value they had clicked before to the database. It's as if there is something else on the page that is holding on to the selected value in the radiobuttonlist even after the javascript clears the control itself.
