View 1 RepliesI have a FormView with an EditTemplate.And the EditTemplate contains an ascx control:
<asp:FormView
ID="fvTicketUpdate"
runat="server"
[code]...
The contents of the ascx control has TextBox and DropDownList controls binding to the results of the FormView's ObjectDataSource through Text='<%# Eval("field1") %>'and SelectedValue='<%# Eval("field2") %>'.This works fine and I have been building all of my front end pieces like this as <asp:Panels> rendering as FieldSets that go 100% across the screen.And we call these areas "strips" accross the screen.But now I've run into a problem.One TextBox and one DropDown bind fine to a Ticket Object.But the DropDownList that works has its <asp:ListItems> hardcoded before hand.Now I have DropDownList that gets populated through a WebService in the ascx's
code behind like this:
public partial class UserControls_FormControls_PntipUpdtFaaInfo :
System.Web.UI.UserControl
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
[code]...
The Problem I think is the FormView is trying to do its Bind to the objectDataSource before its child ascx control is loaded in the Edit Template.And I am getting this error:
Databinding methods such as Eval(),XPath(),and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control.Meaning that the control must already be databound to bind the selectedValue to a Property of the TicketObject.Is there an easy way to force the order of loading to make the PntipUpdtFaaInfo control load and have its Page_Load execute and bind ddlEquip before the FormView does its first dataBind and executing its Evals?Otherwise I have to take out the eval on the ddlEquip SelectedValue attribute and go to the Parent Page and hack and force everything to happen when it needs to.This layout has worked out well for me.All of the ascx area strips across the screen share the same Validation Summary for example.It allows me to think about one section at a time and the Properties to the Business Obect and CRUD methods as I go.But this is a big brick wall I've hit.
i have an array of sraped picture urls (So the pictures are still on the remove server). What i would like to do is check the dimensions of every picture and load only bigger ones (certain width/height) in the browser.
View 3 RepliesI have the following sql table which contains menu (website menu) data.
Table Name: MenuItems Columns: Id, MenuId, ParentMenuItemId, Text.
My goal is to bind a DDL according to the following hierarchy (example):
Id: 1, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: -1, Text: 'One'
Id: 2, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 1, Text: 'Two'
Id: 3, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 1, Text: 'Three'
Id: 4, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 2, Text: 'Four'
Id: 5, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 4, Text: 'Five'
Requested result in DDL:
One
-- Two
---- Four
------ Five
-- Three
I think it should contain 'WITH' SQL command.
Note: I'm using C#.
I have a table and 7 column name.
I bind the 7 column name in one dropdownlist.
Now the problem is,how do I extract the data value in a dropdownlist?
For example,
Dropdownlist contain 7 column name
-subject_name
-subject_code
-venue
-time
-seat_no
-admission_no
-subject_id
when I click the subject_name,I want it to appear in a gridview
Example
Math|9.00-10.00|Hall|18|09090J|...
Below is my current codes which I have a problem.
protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source= EN\SQLEXPRESS;" + "Initial Catalog=ms;Integrated Security=SSPI");
SqlDataAdapter adapSel;
string mySQL = "SELECT '" + dd_list.SelectedValue+ "' FROM examtimetable ";
adapSel = new SqlDataAdapter(mySQL, conn);
conn.Open();
DataSet dsSel = new DataSet();
adapSel.Fill(dsSel);
GridView1.DataSource = dsSel;
GridView1.DataBind();
conn.Close();
}
Previously I have bind 7 column name in my dropdownlist
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (Page.IsPostBack == false)
{
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source= EN\SQLEXPRESS;" + "Initial Catalog=ms;Integrated Security=SSPI");
SqlCommand sqlCmd = new SqlCommand("select column_name from information_schema.columns where table_name='examtimetable' and COLUMN_NAME not like '%ID'", conn);
conn.Open();
SqlDataReader ds;
ds = sqlCmd.ExecuteReader();
dd_list.Items.Clear();
dd_list.DataSource = ds;
dd_list.DataTextField = "Column_Name";
dd_list.DataValueField = "Column_Name";
dd_list.DataBind();
dd_list.Items.Insert(0, "Select Option");
ds.Close();
conn.Close();
}
}
I have a gridview with 3 nested dropdownlists in one cell on edit like this:To get the exact fields when the user clicks on edit I used the following code(yes it's messy)
[Code]....
The BLLOnderhoud is a class and the getReserveInfo is used to get the Model - Brand(merk) Information.Since the dropdownlists are nested in the gridview I can't call them directly and they can't call any of my functions.And this is the problem, when I change the dropdownfield Model the Auto field wich is the last dropdown(in the picture is a typo) should be binded like in the following code:
[Code]....
But the dropdownlist onDataBound event can't call any of my functions that are in my class.So my question is how can the onDataBound event of the second dropbox trigger a function? The only thing that the function has to do is to bind the 3rd dropdownlist
Using dropdown in gridview and bind the values in dropdown then based on dropdown display the value in another column.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to deploy a website stored on a network shared storage. My problem is that I am unable to load assemblies that reside on the remote machine.I load some assemblies by using
assembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(Uri.UnescapeDataString(new UriBuilder(satelliteExpectedLocation).Path))
where the satelliteExpectedLocation is in the form "file:\10.0.0.85 mpappinMessages.resources.dll".
I got a FormatException on this one, so I modified the path to read "file:////\10.0.0.85\tmp\app\bin\Messages.resources.dll"
Now I get a "System.IO.FileNotFoundException".I read on MSDN that the "File" scheme is to be used for resources on the local machine. But how should I get the resources on the network share?

How to bind the dropdownlist to object.Salutation?
I have a dropdownlist in datalist. I use arraylist to bind the datalist. In arraylist it is "DataNew" Class which has the property of DataTable "dt_city". Now I bind the DataTable to dropdownlist
Line73: <tr>
Line 74: <td style="width: 100px; height: 24px">
Line 75: <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" runat="server"
Line 76: SelectedValue='<%# DataBinder.Eval(((DataNew)Container.DataItem).dt_city,"city") %>'>
Line 77: </asp:DropDownList></td>
But I got the error of:
Server Error in '/AFIRS' Application.
DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataTable' does not contain a property with the name 'city'.
Description:
An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I have a List<HybridDictionary> _Reasons.
I need to bind the list to a dropdown.
I tried the code as try
{
this.ddlReason.DataSource = _Reasons;
ddlReason.DataValueField = "Key";
ddlReason.DataTextField = "Value";
this.ddlReason.DataBind();
}
catch
{
//Log Entry
}
finally
{
}
But it not work.
I am handling the row databound event. I need to bind a dropdownlist which is present only in the EditItemTemplate.
So it is throwing:
DropDownList ddlAccountingPeriod = e.Row.FindControl("ddlAccountingPeriod") as DropDownList;
UIControlHelper.BindApprovalPeriod(ddlAccountingPeriod);
this throws a null exception as the dropdown is not present in the ItemTemplate.
Is there a way to check whether it is itemtemplate or edititemtemplate.
I'm trying gridview templateField DropDownList bind with arraylist. When i set bindsource i got this error. "//Error Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I have a dropdownlist that's being populated from a SQL datasource. I would also like to have a tooltip for each dropdownlist list item on mouse over. I found the example below which adds a title attribute for each list item using the listitem text as a tooltip but I want to make the title/tooltip value another field in the database. In other words,
item.Attributes.Add("title", someotherdatabasefield);
The end result would be something like this where the text for 'title' comes from the database
<asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True">
<asp:ListItem Text="CompanyName1" Value="1" title="a really great company" />
<asp:ListItem Text="CompanyName2" Value="2" title="a really bad company" />
</asp:DropDownList>
