Web Forms :: Make Website Specific For Certain Region - Restrict Users Location Wise
Sep 30, 2013
Just to avoid misuse of website i have to make it specific for certain region. Like people could view menu across the world and only the people of mumbai can order online. I want a submit button that would be visible to only mumbai people.
in my asp.net+vb web page which is use din INTRANET web . In a page i want to restrict the browsing for four peoples only, so that i used a code like below.
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim ipaddress As String ipaddress = Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR") If ipaddress = "" OrElse ipaddress Is Nothing Then ipaddress = Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") End If iptxt.Text = (ipaddress) If iptxt.Text = ("192.168.0.3") Then Response.Redirect("err.aspx") End If end sub

I need to restrict access to my website by physical PC. When a user signs up I want to be able to restrict access to one machine for that account so it cannot be shared round, if, for example, somebody else in the same office wanted to access the system on their PC they would need a seperate sign in.
I have done some investigation and I "think" the only way is installing an ActiveX component (which isn't an issue that is restricts to IE only) and then read the users MAC address. Am I trying to over complicate things or is that the only way? I realise that MACS can be spoofed but this is not much of an issue.
I have a requirement for my client (100000/1 Lakh users) for a Asset Tracker portal (Laptops/Desktops) where in I have a show the Asset (Laptop/Desktop was with whom and currently with whom) history (Trace Infromation) on a Report. There might be a n no of users who have used the same laptop.
From the beginning till the end of the life cycle of an asset, the trace of asset owner needs to be captured thoughout. We need to show the asset history report in a single row of data.e.g: Laptop was with A then with B and then with C and Currently with C. Not alone user history we also need to capture the Region/Location information of the asset and certain other things too.
how to implement this since there are lot of assets which needs to be registered in the portal.I am using SQL 2005.
I've been reading about asp web administration tool. I read about creating roles and stuff and forcing a controller to use authentication in order to be viewed. My question is, say create on the administration tool a user called Peter and I assign him the Administrator role. Then I want to create another role called LimitedAdministrator. But I want Peter to create new users on his View (I'm using MVC). Can anyone point me in the direction of how to do this.
I want peter to see on his page, like "Create user" and this user will be created as a LimitedAdministrator.
Can anyone explain how to make unique login in asp.net
<b>Problem:</b> If user is logged at a client machine and tries to login from other client machine at the same time, then he should be prompted that "You are already logged in, Do you want to continue?" on continue user should be logged out from other machine and logged in to current machine.
I need to deliver source code to client and my boss need to remove all the comments and #region sections from the whole web site source code.
So is there any functionality available in visual studio 2010 or may be in an other 3rd party tool available to do so, which can remove all the #region from all over the source code ?
Otherwise my developers has to do donkey work.... :(( and I don't wish it.
i'm working with the visual studio 2008 , aps.net website and i'm using masterPage , now as i creat a aspx page that bind to the masterPage and drug a contentPlaceHolder to the screen in a specific location now as i drug somthing to the content, tne content gets the shape of the button or whatever and thats it, i can drug more in there but it wont change the shape of the content i also tried to write it in the source by myself between the content tags and its the same problem,
If a user use back button of a browser and make any change on that webform then how can i restrict him to do so.I my case its a quiz and i don't wanna allow user to change his answer
I am deploying a public ASP.NET website on an IIS7 web farm.
The application runs on 3 web servers and is behind a firewall.
We want to create a single page on the website that is accessible only to internal users. It is primarily used for diagnostics, trigger cache expiry, etc.
/admin/somepage.aspx
What is the best way to control access to this page? We need to:
Prevent all external (public) users from accessing the URL. Permit specific internal users to access the page, only from certain IPs or networks.
Should this access control be done at the (a) network level, (b) application level, etc.?
I am developing a website that has 2 roles of users.i have made 2 folders for each type of user's web pages. how to imply security so that 1 type of user could not see other user web pages.is thier any other way or i will have to check form the databse for credidentials every time the page is visited? Also let me know why do people put web pages in folders?i am not using sql membership and not even .net classes for role management.
I have a login form and users have to enter their username and password for entering the sites ..
Also now its possible for users to enter the sites without login .. they can select the options in the menu and access them ... But i want to restrict the users ..only allow them to access the menu componets after login ... If they tries to access the contents a text have to display ask them to login
how can i do that... i am using vb.net as my language in the page
I am using the membership provider and am reasonably comfortable that all of my web pages are safe. Some of the pages contain hyperlinks to documents (pdf, xls, etc.) stored in a folder under the root of the web site. I have disabled the ability of users to anonymously list folder contents, but I don't see a way to keep anonymous users from accessing the documents if they know the specific URL for that document. Example; if the document contains a spreadsheet of current sales, I don't want an ex-employee (who captured the URL while working here) to be able to bring up the current document.asswording the documents isn't a good choice because there are hundreds and we'd like to avoid changing them all every time someone leaves, or weekly, or whenever...Is there a way to restrict access to all contents of a web folder to people who have been authenticated?
I have a very simplistic user control that looks like this:
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="wfWindow.ascx.cs" Inherits="webfanatix.co.za.wfWindow" %> <div>Just a test...[x]</div>
with this code behind:
[ParseChildren(false)] [PersistChildren(true)] public partial class wfWindow : System.Web.UI.UserControl { protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) { RenderChildren(writer); } }
And the usage thereof looks like this:
<wf:wfWindow runat="server">This content should go where [x] is.</wf:wfWindow>
I'm no ASP.NET pro, so how do I get the content to render exactly where the [x] appears in my user control?
RenderChildren is rendering my content, but it is only appended to the end of the UserControl output. I need it to go and sit right where [x] marks the spot.
I ve a script for downloading a file. but that file is getting downloaded into docs/download folder by default. How can i change this so that the user can download it to a specific location or directory.. current script is as follows :
I am trying to create a diary site which will allow users to enter rich texts (text, picture and video links...) and the outcome for each page will be an html file being saved under each users profile folder. If I create html files for every user entry, then these pages can be accessible if the path and file name is known for them... I am trying to have some secured html pages so that only the owner of those pages can have access to them after logging in.
I have basic understanding to cache webpages for duration. Now I have some complex requirements:
1. User e.g "Nauna" login in asp application 2. Visit on report page 3. Pass data range from 01-01-2013 to 30-12-2013 and extract the report which retreive data in 55 seconds on gridview 4. Now I want that when next time user "Nauna" login in the application and use the same report with same parameter 01-01-2013 to 30-12-2013 so that report should be come up from cache instead of run the complete life cycle.
I need to have a GridView show up at some precise place on a page. I tried to do this by defining the GridView into a cell of a table. It did not work ... the GridView populates OK, however it shows up under my table.
Is there any way I can make this GridView show up at the right of my table and span the 4 or 5 rows I have in this table?
I want to be able to search for path of Secure and find out the user role that is specified. My input is the path, such as "Secure" and the value I'm trying to retrieve is "SecureUsers".
