I use a masterpages with 3 buttons at the end of the file because al these buttons must be displayed in all content pages. Now I want to call the button_click event in all content pages because the event will be different for each contentpage. My question: How can I call events from controls in the masterpages, in the contentpage?
View 1 RepliesI need my MasterPage to be able to get ControlIDs of Controls on ContentPages, but I cannot use <%= xxx.CLIENTID%> as it would return an error as the control(s) might not be loaded by the contentplaceholder.
Some controls have a so called BehaviourID, which is exactly what I would need as they can be directly accessed with the ID: [Asp.net does always create unique IDs, thus modifies the ID I entered] Unfortunately I need to access
e.g. ASP.NET Control with BehaviouraID="test"
document.getElementById("test")
if I were to use e.g. Label control with ID="asd"
document.getElementById('<%= asd.ClientID%>')
But if the Labelcontrol isn't present on the contentpage, I of course get an error on my masterpage.

I have a usercontrol (ascx) with a DropDownList placed on a MasterPage. It has AutoPostBack=true. I created a SelectedIndexChanged event for the dropdown on the usercontrol, but it does not fire when seleted item changes. The PostBack fires and both current page as well as MasterPage are reloaded but the SelectedIndexChanged is not fired. How can this event be trapped?

I have a requirement to set the Task as a recurring task i.e. Replace server backup tapes every day, or, Order more stationary once a month.

I have a MasterPage (MasterPage.master) with 2 child MasterPages (specialMaster.master and standardMaster.master). From the MasterPage.master I need to get at some of the controls in one of the children, specialMaster.master, say for example to hide certain
content if a session variable is not null.
I have a page with 2 Controls, a ListBox and a DropDownList.
In the DropDownList you can select a PLACE.
In the ListBox you can see all DOCUMENTS for the selected PLACE.
If you select a DOCUMENT, the program does a redirect on the selected DOCUMENT.
So, there are an AutoPostBack and an Event (if you select another Item) on both Controls.
The problem is: If I select a PLACE, then I select a DOCUMENT (the pdf document is opened), and then I go back on the page and I want to select another PLACE, the program doesn't select another PLACE, but opens the old DOCUMENT, because there are 2 Events, one to change the PLACE and one to open the DOCUMENTS.
Can I give a priority at the Events?
I have 2 masterpages. (Default.master and User.master).I have a hidden field in Default.master then how can i get the hidden field value of Default.master file from User.master.is there any way to access that hidden field like: Request.form("hidID") ?

the user can change the data within the gridview then click a save button to update the data within the database.
However in order to know which rows have been changed I have a textChanged event associated with each textbox, but the event isn't being fired.

Just I started learning MVC pattern, of course i am learning it from Microsoft's website.Just i want to gather quiz information from the experts. My understanding is (correct me then and there)
1 ) MVC does not support server side events, but supports client side events. If it supports client side events, I need html page with jQuery/Javascript (view), but most of the example I absorbed is to display the information(model) in view, I did not see any client side event handling happens in view.
2) Except ViewState and controlState, MVC supports Sessions, Application State management, Cache management.
3) When request goes to MVC engine, the routing module routes the request that is picked up by the controller. The controller in executes the appropriate action and returns the appropriate view.
How to wire up HTML server controls events?
I added a Input (Text) control in my web form and turned it into an HTML server control so its an instance of HtmlInputText class.
If I double click on the control It only adds a OnClick event handler method inside the script tags in the HTML doc of the web form but how to I get to handle its Serverchange event exactly? does VS.net 2008 has no ability to auto wire up the event to the control, do I have to manually wire up the event handler?
i'm trying to create a web-application in visual-studio 2010. i have a visual-studio-solution, and some projects; now i want to create one MasterPage - and compile this masterPage in a dll-class-library. my problem is to use this masterPage in the aspx-files. create a correct class-lib.-project with the MasterPage, and to use this MasterPage in the different projects and aspx-sites?

I had a problem with my website caused by using a masterpage built with a previous version of Visual Web Developer. So I created a new masterpage and renamed it to the same as the old one. It works locally but when I upload onto the host site I get the following error message: error ASPNET: Make sure that the class defined in this code file matches the 'inherits' attribute, and that it extends the correct base class (e.g. Page or UserControl).How do I get it to also work on the host site?

The ContentPlaceHolder is within this div.
My question is when I inherit this masterpage and place the content within the assigned area it sometimes overrun the div settings
which were done on the masterpage and displays over then masterpage div.
Is it possible to set the masterpage div to auto detect overspill of the content or can I set the size of the div on each page(even though its a masterpage div)?
I have a Page (index.aspx) that inherits from MasterPage (Index.Master) that inherits from another MasterPage (/template1/Website.Master). I want to be able to set the masterpagefile of Index.Master to /template2/Website.Master programmatically.
My index.aspx is basically a placeholder file (I have multiple directories with the same placeholder files, and I don't want to have to update every folder if i make a change to 1 file). All the website content is located in Index.Master. The layout of the website is in Website.Master. I want to be able to change the layout based on a selection stored in a local xml file in each of the folders.
I understand I can change the Page PreInit on the aspx page easy enough, but I don't want to change that. It has to link to the index.master.
Index.Master doesn't have a PreInit because it's a masterpage, not a page...
I have a textbox, on pressing the ENTER key within it, a function should be called with the value in it.
This requires that one of keypress,keydown or keyup to be handled on the server side.
I find that only client side implementation are being followed.
Are there any other events besides the OnTextChanged event? Like is there a key up event of some sort?
What I'm trying to accomplish is when a user fills in this text box it automatically fills in a couple other text boxes.
I will go into the background of why i am wanting to do this if necessary but in short. I want to create a WebControl which has a button on it. I provide the most simple of examples to understand why it is not working.

Since PostBack data and viewstate data are available and initialized to their respective controls at the time of page PreLoad() event ,i want to know then which place is better to use - either PreLoad() or Load() event for dynamically checking my controls status ?For the last one year i was blindly using Page's Load() event .Why i was using Load() event ? I think the same logical part can be done in PreLoad() , since data are available at that time .But what is the main difference when i use my logic Here(PreLoad event) or there (Load event) ?
