Web Forms :: Remove Extra Url Parameters For SiteMapPath To Display Breadcrumb Correctly?
Aug 13, 2010
I have a site that uses parameters in the query string to determine what content to display.
page.aspx?id=1 - Main page
page.aspx?id=1&p=2 - Main page showing info A
page.aspx?id=1&p=3 - Main page showing info B
My issue is that my sitemap contains an entry for page.aspx?id=1, which displays my breadcrumb as it should; however, I obviously don't have an entry for page.aspx?id=1&p=2 so my breadcrumb breaks. I am still on the page.aspx?id=1 page and would like the breadcrumb to display correctly.
Is there a way to remove all the parameters from "&" right? So that my breadcrumb will still display correctly. I've seen options using SiteMapResolveEventHandler but I couldn't get them to work.

my sitemap path currently displays the root node of my website and only a child node. it is binded to the following web.sitemap:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<siteMap xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/AspNet/SiteMap-File-1.0" >
<siteMapNode url="~/home.aspx" title="Home" description="">
<siteMapNode url="~/biography.aspx" title="Biography" description="">
</siteMapNode>
<siteMapNode url="~/links.aspx" title="Links" description="">
</siteMapNode>
<siteMapNode url="~/movies.aspx" title="Movies" description="" >
</siteMapNode>
<siteMapNode url="~/contact.aspx" title="Contact" description="">
</siteMapNode>
</siteMapNode>
</siteMap>
however i want the breadcrumb to display links exactly like my menu. for ex: home|links|bio|register not the child and its parent node!

I have a long string containing the ,<p> </p> and <br>. I want to clean my string from all these tags and spaces. How it can be done with String.Replace() method. I am doing separately right now, it is working but is there a way to do it at once, without replace() method.
String.Replace(" ","").Replace("<p>","").Replace("<br>","")
It is giving me clean code but I am looking for a general solution, means if I am having more tags (10 to 20) to filter then how to do it efficiently.

In my code I am using a popup window to display extra information. I also have the ability to export the information in the main window to Excel.The problem is, after the window pops up -> I see the info -> I close the popup window -> but if I try the export to Excel button, it throws the exception "null object referrence" (if I use a try/catch, the exception doesn't occur - but I don't get any information). In the export function I am doing something like this:
{
//some code .... here
con.close();
session["dss"] = mydataset;
}
In the export button click event:
system.data.dataset dss = (system.data.dataset)session["dss"];
//then some work on this
I think, probably when the popup window opens it ends the execution and that's why when I come back to the main window and try the export button the values for the tables and all goes out of scope.Also, if I refresh the main page after closing the popup window I don't have any issue and can export the data.

High level description is this: I have a value that is pulled from a session variable. In the PageLoad method, the value is stored in a local variable. A literal control is set on the page with that local variable and then the value is stored in the database. There is no default value for the literal control on the aspx page. For some reason, the literal is displaying an incorrect value, but the value placed in the database (using the same local variable) is correct.

I've added a site map path on my web pages. When a page is loaded that is consistent with the site map, the site map path is displayed. Another way to say this is that if the page history is consistent with the site map, it is displayed e.g. Page 1 > Page 2 > Page 3. However when Page 3 is submitted, the history becomes Page 1 > Page 2 > Page 3 > Page 3. This is inconsistent with the site map and is not displayed.Also if you open a page from another page using a hyperlink that is not consistent with the site map, the site map path is not displayed.WHO DESIGNED THIS? (only a retorical question)My real question is, is this consistent with your findings, and if so is there a work around to always display the site map path , or is there a third party control that will always display the site map path, or the actual page history.

I am using ajax tabcontrols( 4 tabs) with a gridview in each tab. When a row is first selected in the first tab, the data relevant to the selected row appears in the second tab in the gridview and so on.I want to create a bread crumb which shows the data selected in each case. For eg ) if I select the data A in tab 1, and data B in tab2, the breadcrumb should show A-->B .

i designed an export to excel page that uses the following code
the data is displayed in grid view and the date format is displayed as M/d/yyyy
so i added the culture en-GB to page directive to display the date as d/M/yyyy
the date now displays correctly d/M/yyyy, and the utf-8 also display correctly in gridview.
however once i export to excel the utf-8 appears scrambled
when ever i remove the culture from page directives, names display correctly, however i face again the M/d/yyyy issue.
My question is: is there a way to display date as d/M/yyyy and at the same time reading correct utf-8

on my page i have a time range printed in the format of 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM i have to display this appropriately for whatever culture the browser supplies. i'm having an issue with arabic (ar-ae): the am/pm indicator seems to change the text ordering for part of the string. the string has the right characters in the right places in memory, but shows them in a different order.
so for my start and end times, i have strings like 03:00 ص and 11:00 مand then i put them together like
string dummytext = t1string + " - " + t2string; when the page is written, the range is displayed as 03:00 ص - 11:00 م i've tried putting each piece in a Label control and wrapping everything in a div with dir="ltr" and haven't made any progress. this is happening in a table cell if it makes any difference.

I'm faced with a challenging task, at first in web.sitemap I wanted to replace text with images to be displayed in my Navigation Menu witch worked out just fine, however by adding the images to the SiteMapNodes, I'm being prevented from using the title attributes which I need to also build the Headings of the many many pages that I have by utilizing a second SiteMapPath control, so I don't have to heardcode them every time. would there be an alternative way to keep my Images and still be able to use the title attributes.

I have a webform which inserts data into a sql table successfully (form is bound to SqlDataSource1). The problem I have is that I need to populate a number of the DataFields based on an entered Ref number from a button click. The Ref is passed into a Stored Procedure as the only input parameter, all other params are output params. The procedure seems to run fine, but I can not seem to display any of the output params in my form. Here is my sproc:
