Web Forms :: ReportViewer Not Working In Vs2010 Framework4?

Aug 10, 2010

I cannot get my reports to work when combined with a master page.

I have a webpage with a reportviewer that has always worked in VS2008 framework3.5. However, When I rebuild this for vs2010 it looks like this:

<%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/TopMenu.master" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="TestControl2.aspx.vb" Inherits="TestControl2" %>

[Code]....

My problem is that I cannot get my reports to work on my site embedded with the normal menus within a master page.

It seems there is some problem with the scriptmanager and master pages but after a whole day of mucking about I thought why my reportviewer and reports won't work with master pages; I also have loads of reports and if they don't work I have real problem.

Client - Reportviewer In Folder Not Working?

Jun 5, 2010

We can run the ReportViewer in a ASP.Net Web App project that is off the root OK so localhost/test/report.aspx works. It's running as a Client Report. But if we move the application up another level the report stops working so localhost/testfolder/test/test.aspx.

When the report fails it has no data to display and none of the images are loading.

Info: We are bind the report in code and sort out the Report.LocalReport.ReportPath to the correct path.

From the comment I've probably not made my self clear, the ASP.Net WebApp is not at the root level it's at the. There is the root application, then "testfolder" as an application and then "test". There are no access permission problems for the files.

AJAX :: Reorderlist Not Working With 40412 / VS2010?

Jun 2, 2010

using 40412 in VS2010, I can't get reorderlist to work - can't pick any items up and move them around in any browser. sample site works fine, and I even tried referencing the dll from the bin directory there with no luck. tried running some code that binds data manually from a working project that uses a previous release and all I get is a regular list. converted data source to a sqldatasource and still no dice.

one oddity I do see between my non-working project and the other working examples (sample site and my older project) is that the generated list item div IDs are identical in my project, while the working examples all have unique IDs generated, ie:

non-working project: <li id="ReorderList1" style="vertical-align:middle;"> (all LIs identical)
working example (40412 sample site): ><li id="ctl00_SampleContent_ReorderList1__rli5" style="vertical-align:middle;"> (each line has unique suffix - in this case __rli5)

Crystal Reports Reportviewer - Set Datasource Dynamically Not Working?

Mar 25, 2010

I'm running CR XI, and accessing .RPT files through a ReportViewer in my ASP.NET pages. I've already got the following code, which is supposed to set the Report Datasource dynamically.

rptSP = New ReportDocument
Dim rptPath As String = Request.QueryString("report")
rptSP.Load(rptPath.ToString, 0)
Dim SConn As New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnectionStringBuilder(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("MyConnectionString").ConnectionString)
rptSP.DataSourceConnections(SConn.DataSource, SConn.InitialCatalog).SetConnection(SConn.DataSource, SConn.InitialCatalog, SConn.UserID, SConn.Password)
Dim myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo
myConnectionInfo.ServerName = SConn.DataSource
myConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = SConn.InitialCatalog
myConnectionInfo.UserID = SConn.UserID
myConnectionInfo.Password = SConn.Password

'Two new methods to loop through all objects and tables contained in the requested report and set
'login credentials for each object and table.
SetDBLogonForReport(myConnectionInfo, rptSP)
SetDBLogonForSubreports(myConnectionInfo, rptSP)
Me.CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rptSP

But when I go into each .RPT file, and open up the Database Expert section, there is obviously still servernames hardcoded in there, and the code listed above doesn't seem to be able to change the servernames that are hardcoded there.

I say this because I have training and production environments. When the .RPT file is hardcoded with my production server, and I open it on my training server with the code above (and the web.config has the training server in the connection string), I get the ol:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

And then if I go into the .RPT file, and change over the datasource to the training server, and try to open it again, it works fine. Why doesn't the code above overwrite the .RPT files datasource?

How can I avoid having to open up each .RPT and change the datasource when migrating reports from server to server? Is there a setting in the .RPT file I'm missing or something?

MVC :: Using Data From Multiple Entity Framework4 Model Entity Objects In MVC2 Controller?

Sep 29, 2010

getting data from multiple Entities models into an MVC controller. Most of the examples I have seen for using EF in an MVC2 app only use a single entitiy.

I have just started using MVC2 in C# using the Entity Framework models (CIOps.model) created from an SQL database. I can create the controller and views using single tables of the model in MVC2, but I just cannot get my head around how to get data from multiple entity tables into the controller (similar to joins in T-SQL). I have included an example below of the controller code that works with a single entity table, tbl_tours (tbl_tour in DB).

Could someone please illustrate how this code would be changed to include additional columns from FK tables in addition to tbl_tours columns. E.g. the clients name from the tbl_clients, the coordinators name from the tbl_employees, and costs from tbl_costs entities? Is it possible to do this directly using the EF model entities/classes that are already created and not use LINQ, POCO, Repositories, etc.? The FK relationships are already in the EF models. I have included the whole controller code, but I just need a few examples of how to join the multiple entities, not rewrite every CRUD function function in the controller. I think this will get me over the hump in using EF in an MVC2 App. Also ignore the fact I am using the home controller, this will change in the application.

Security :: Redirect URL And Forms Authentication (VS2010)?

Jul 12, 2010

We just switched to VS2010 and seems like the forms authentication is behaving differently.

Our setup is that we have a default page (default.aspx) so that if you link to the root folder of the site, rather than a specific page, you get switched to default.aspx.

In addition, we have a working forms authentication system set up so that if you try to go to any of the pages you get redirected to a login.aspx page.

The login page can either redirect you to the forms authentication default page (default.aspx) or to the requested URL.

I'm not the one that configured this originally, but it looks like we are getting the originally requested URL from the authentication redirect, since Page.Request.Url = "http://.../Login.aspx/ReturnURL=<requestedpage>"

The problem is that this is failing to work when the original url is the root folder. In VS2008, <requestedpage> would be "/rootfolder/default.aspx", whereas now (in VS2010) we're getting "/rootfolder/". In other words, the site redirect used to be happening before the authentication check, and now it seems to be happening afterwards.

This is a problem because when we are checking to see if we need to redirect to something other than the default page, we check to see if the return URL is empty or matches the authentication defaultURL (which is also "default.aspx". If it matches, we go straight to the default page. If it doesn't we do some processing and then do the redirect. The extra processing is producing strange results when the browser is redirected to the rootfolder and therefore to the default page.

For now, I'm able to additionally test for Request + "default.aspx" (which resolved to the authenticaiton defaultURL), but this feels clunky and I can see headaches in the future if we ever need to rename default.aspx.

P.S. It has occurred to me that it's possible that something changed in web.config or another setup file when we did our conversion to VS2010. I can't find it, but that doesn't mean it's not there.

Web Forms :: Code Behind Works In VS2010 But Not When Published In IIS?

Oct 24, 2012

Imports System.Collections.ObjectModel Imports System.Management.Automation
Imports System.Management.Automation.Runspaces Imports System.Text
Imports System.IO
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

Label1.Text = " ServerB" End If

[code]....

I have an ASP.NET site I built for our users to map a network printer. When I test it, it maps the printer without any probelms. When I publish it to IIS, it acts like it's going to run, but never tries to map it. I have checked all the permissions, I have tried it as a web app and a web site, I have tried to publish both and I have tried to copy and paste the folders in the root folder. I have added references to the Microsoft.Powershell.XXXX. I have changed it from "CodeBehind" to "CodeFile" and I have changed the "AutoEventWireup" to "true". There are no errors in the event log and none on screen. It clears the fields, like it should at the end of the code and that's it.

Forms Data Controls :: ReportViewer When Rendered As HTML?

Feb 16, 2010

I have some javascript to iterate the divs in my web page. There is also a ReportViewer control. If I look at the HTML in FireBug in FireFox I can drill down to a div with an id of "oReportDiv". However, my javascript does not pick this up and if I view Source I cannot find it there either. It is the same story in Internet Explorer - I can find the div in the developer tools but not in the source.

The div is buried in nested iFrames and Framesets and all sorts of nasty looking stuff.

Web Forms :: HttpContext.Current NULL When Using .NET ReportViewer And An ObjectDataSource

Mar 10, 2010

I have an ASP.NET Web Forms app using Entity Framework in the data layer. I've recently changed the app over to use one Object Context per request as per this post. It works great for the entire application except for any page which uses a ReportViewer to display something.

I've noticed that it fails when trying to get an instance of the [Code].... from the [Code].... collection because [Code]....
is null.

Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll and Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll can also be seen in the call stack each time it fails. The reports each use one or more ObjectDataSources to retreive data.

Based on this I'm assuming that the ReportViewer is somehow to blame, but i have no idea why. I would need some way to dispose the ObjectContext after it had been used by the report at the very least.
