Web Forms :: Unexpected Behavior With Login Control?

Oct 26, 2010

I am developing an ecommerce site that is utilizing PayPal's sandbox environment. I have a login control in the header section of a master page. Everything works as expected until I am redirected back to my site from PayPal. The login control doesn't work as expected. When I click on logout it doesn't change to login or it does change but the user still appears to authenticated.

C# - TreeView Control Unexpected Event Behavior?

Apr 16, 2010

In the MSDN is writen about TreeNode that:

"By default, a node is in selection mode."

"To put a node into selection mode, set the node's NavigateUrl property to an empty string."

"When a node is in selection mode, use the SelectAction property to specify which event or events are raised when a node is selected."

"Setting TreeNodeSelectAction value TreeNodeSelectAction.Select Raises the SelectedNodeChanged event when a node is selected."

Here is the problem and possibly a bug in the control:

When I set the TreeNode object PopulateOnDemand value to true and call the Collapse() function on that node.Then the TreeNodeExpanded event is raised in addition to the SelectedNodeChanged event.This is in complate contradiction to what is writen in the MSDN.According to the MSDN this sould happen only if TreeNodeSelectAction Property is set to TreeNodeSelectAction.SelectExpand value.

Here is the code:

<asp:TreeView ID="TreeView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateDataBindings="False"
onselectednodechanged="TreeView1_SelectedNodeChanged"
ontreenodepopulate="TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate"> [code]...

Web Forms :: Unexpected Behavior With Dynamic Textboxes In Multiview Page

Mar 23, 2010

I have a multiview page. Page 1 basically gives you the option of selecting if you want to enter percentages or amounts. Page 2 you can select a productgroup page 3 creates dynamically a table with textboxes in the first row and radiobuttons in the next rows. In the textboxes you enter a percentage or an amount depending on the choice on page 1. Because these textboxes and radiobuttons depend on the data present in a database, I have to create them dynamically, so far so good.

The textboxes also have the textchanged event and autopostback, because there needs to be a check if an entered value is valid. Now when I enter a value in a textbox, click on a button that directs me to page 2 (view 2) and select another productgroup, the same value I entered also pops up in the textbox in the same position.

And I don't get it, the table is cleared every time I enter page (view) 3 and the function that creates the table and fills it with data is also correct (with the correct values), but when its displayed the value from the previous productgroup is in the textbox. Is this behavior someone recognizes ? maybe I forgot something simple?

Unexpected Postback Happening On A User Control?

Feb 18, 2011

We are creating a new user control using a boiler plate template for our application. We noticed that anytime a textbox on the new user control has a focus and the enter key is pressed, the form executes a postback. This happens even if the AutoPostback on the text box is set to true. No other user controls in our app behave this way. What could be some of the places for me too look?

AJAX :: Strange Behavior With GridView In A User Control?

Feb 6, 2010

I've got a user control that is displayed via a PopupControlExtender. The user control is a GridView that dynamically adds columns to the control to display the results of a SELECT statement. The PopupControlExtender correctly displays the control and the control displays the neccessary columns. However, when the control is first displayed, the column widths are ignored, despite that they are explicity set. If the control is displayed and then hidden, the column widths are acknowledged the next time the control is displayed.

Here's the user control when first displayed

Here's how its display after the first time

AJAX :: Odd Behavior On Setting Focus In User Control With Update Panel?

Nov 9, 2010

I'm having a bit of an issue in my ASP.Net application moving focus from a textbox in one user control to a text box in the next user control on the page after postback. I've searched high and low over the last several days to find a solution but, for whatever reason, have been unable to do so.

I have a page that has user controls loaded dynamically to allow a user to enter data.The number and type of user controls loaded to the page is determined at run time based on a database query.It is possible than many controls of the same type can be loaded. Each user control has its own update panel. Within the update panel of each control is a regular asp panel. Inside of the regular panel there are at least 2 server controls (any other controls that may exist in the user control are not affected by this issue) - a text box and a button.The defaultbutton property of the regular panel is set to the ID of the button within the user control. The desired behavior is to allow the user to enter data into the textbox on one user control hit enter to save the data on that user control the application will set focus to the textbox of the next user control on the page after the data from the "current" user control has been saved. Other considerations;

The application uses master pages. We make extensive use of ajax and the ajaxtoolkit in the application. I am using Visual Studio 2010 and .Net 4 The issue - when first entering the page, one can enter data into the first textbox and press the enter key. Data from "current" user control is correctly saved and focus is correctly moved to the next user control on the page.

Data can be entered into the textbox of "new" user control and when the enter key is pressed, the data is correctly save. The focus appears to move correctly to the next user control on the page.Data cannot be entered into the textbox of the control. Pressing the enter key will not save the data (because none was entered) but the focus will move to the textbox of the next user control on the page.

Data can be entered into the textbox of the user control. When the enter key is pressed, the data is correctly saved and the focus appears to move correctly to the textbox of the next control on the pageBasically, steps 3 and 4 are repeated until the end of the user controls on the page, alternating between being able to enter data and not. Other items of note When one is able to enter data into the textbox of a user control, one can correctly tab through the textboxes of each user control until the end of the page When one is not able to enter data into the textbox of a user control, pressing the tab key will take the focus to the address bar of the browser.

I created a much simplified example of the scenario described above and was able to consistently reproduce the "bad" focus behavior. All of the ajax toolkit controls and code where stripped out of the sample to rule the toolkit out as a cause. The behavior still occurs without the toolkit.

I am including the code for default.aspx and WebUserControl1.ascx.

Security :: Secured Site Using The Login Control / Do Not Want Them Redirected Based On Their Login Status?

Mar 24, 2011

I am doing a simple secured site using the login control. I would like users to be redirected to their dashboard page once they log in, but after that if they choose to browse I do NOT want them redirected based on their login status. I am using the generic template provided in VWD with the basic login setup in the template including the tabbed ASP menu control - nothing fancy, nothing custom. This is intended to be something very simple and quick. Here is the code I am using for the page load...

[Code]....

So if I do this code WITHOUT the "IsPostBack", logged in users are always redirected to their dashboard and cannot see the hompage. However with that IsPostBack test, the redirect after initial login doesn't work.

I know this is extremely basic and simple, but I am restarting with this stuff after a year away, and I need a nudge.

How To Customize Login Account For Login Control

Feb 13, 2011

currently I have a website with authentication using Microsoft.IdentityModel.Web.WSFederationAuthenticationModule. It redirects me to login page (single sign-on outside my website) and upon login, I am redirected to default page.

Now, when I was using CreateUserWizard asp.net control, it seems that upon creation of user, the control tried to use my machine name to login to db server (i.e. '$') instead of using SSO login which has just been done.

Does anybody know how to customize the control to use federation login to connect to db server? In addition, how to set so that the control will use certain specified sql account to login to db server?

Forms Data Controls :: Change The CSS Class Of The Row - Unexpected GridView Alternate Row

Jan 21, 2010

I'm trying to change the CSS class of the row that is in edit mode. I've managed to get it working, but it only works for alternate rows. I'm totally stumped as to what could be causing it to behave like that. I've attached what I think is the relevant code below

[Code]....

protected void grdList_RowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
e.Row.CssClass = "row";
}
if (e.Row.RowState == DataControlRowState.Edit)
{
e.Row.CssClass = "rowEdit";
}
}
.grdView tr.row:hover
{
background-color: #999999;
font-weight:bold;
}
.grdView tr.editRow
{
background-color: #999999;
font-weight:bold;
}
.rowEdit
{
background-color: #999999;
font-weight:bold;
}
.grdView .row .edit, .grdView .row .delete
{
display:none;
}
.grdView tr.row:hover td .edit, .grdView tr.row:hover td .delete
{
display:inline;
}
