C# - Cannot Pass A Input From Text Box To A Query String And Then Keep The String In This Box?

May 28, 2010

I have a simple ASP.net page:

<form id="form1" runat="server">
<p><asp:TextBox id="input_box" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button Text="OK" runat="server" OnClick="run" /></p>
</form>

I want to send input from input_box to a query string, and then keep this input in the input_box when the page reloads.

That's the code behind page:

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
input_box.Text = Request.QueryString["input"];
}
protected void run(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string url = string.Format("?input={0}", input_box.Text);
Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsolutePath + url);
}

Problem is that when query string is not empty, string from input_box cannot be passed to query string. How to correct it?

Java Can Store Procedures As Java .Net Interop

Jul 5, 2010

I'm looking for a way to access a Java API from both a Java console application and an ASP.Net application.In short my Java API exposes a series of methods for dealing with invoices. All of these methods are essentially commands e.g.

GenerateAllInvocies
GenerateInvoiceNumber
PrintAllInvoices
PrintInvoiceNumber

All methods will interact with the database. I had believed Web Services was going to be my means for interop. But I have since been made aware of Java Stored Procedures in Oracle.

.NET Is Unable To Decode String When Java Can "Hi%E1" ?

Feb 18, 2010

My problem is with .Net Http/Uri libraries not being able to decode or unescape this character sequence: "Hi%E1". Neither Uri.UnescapeDataString nor HttpUtility.UrlDecode can do it.

Although I have a solution to get around this problem ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1221849/url-decoding-confusion ) I would like to understand why it is failing.

The 1st test here throws an exception! The second just fails.

Assert.That(Uri.UnescapeDataString("Hi%E1"), Is.EqualTo("Hiá"));
HttpUtility.UrlDecode("Hi%E1").ShouldBe("Hiá");

There is nothing in the docs to indicate that UnescapeDataString or UrlDecode are restricted to character sets or any reason why these tests would fail. However, from testing, it would appear that HttpUtility assumes UTF-8 (or some other) encoding.

The Java equivalent works! Probably because it allows an encoding to be set.

URLDecoder.decode("Hi%E1","windows-1252"); // this works btw, ie passes tests

Which looks like a very sensible move considering the .Net work-around (see URL above)

Are the .Net implementations of these methods just crap and .Net devs just have to write their own - or am I missing something?

BTW Everything I know of in IIS set to UTF-8, and Chinese/Japanese characters show fine, so I don't yet know how it could it be that this URI consists of windows-1252 encoded characters. If I could fix the URI to contain UTF-8 encoding, that would be a better way of fixing this.

Web Forms :: Trying To Pass A String Variable As A Parameter To The Document.getElementByID Function

Jan 17, 2011

I have a label "lbl1" that I am trying to locate in a content page from the Master page. I want to do it dynamically so I am trying to pass the name of the control (which in this case is lbl1) through as a parameter. I don't get an error, it just doesn't work. If I do an alert to see what the string "temp" looks like, it is correct, but iit seems as if Javascript ignores it. I believe it has something to do with the '<%= not being interpreted correctly by the browser&nbsp; I'm sure it is a simple solution, but I can't figure it out!

<asp:ControlParameter Name="albumID" ControlID="txtAlbumID" Type="Int32"/>
