I have some sql records, table has 3 columns as userID, name, city. I want to take the records with ; select name, city from where city='New York' it turns 5 or 6 records. I want to add them to a string side by side like string record="michael NewYork, marshall New York, liz New York, Forest New York";
How can do I take it ?
I have a results set of 3 columns and aproximately 40 records. Instead of a Gridview with paging enabled or a GridView to where you need to scroll down the page to view all the data, I'd like to have two tables side by side.Is there and easy way to acomplish this?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to customize a ListView control to display like a GridView so that I can enable users to see and update multiple database records at a time.
In the ItemTemplate I've encased all the fields in divs with a style class that would give each div a set-width and left & right borders so that all fields would lineup like a column, however the divs display underneath each other rather than side by side. I tried nesting all the "field divs" in a <p></p> but this doesn't work.
I've spent much time Googling my question and haven't been able to find a clear answer. I'm teaching myself ASP.Net on my own with books and online tutorials and these materials have not shed much light on this particular issue either as of yet.

I'm using an entity model with metadata annotations. My controller method looks like this...

If I enable client side validation in the view I'll get the error per the Attributes from the metadata class. If I take clientside validation out, error gets thrown from saving to the DB rather than return the view with an Error Summary.

I've tried running without debugging (ctrl + f5) in debug and release mode as well as setting breakpoints and Debugging (f5) but it just seems weird to get Client side validation without server side validation. What am I missing here?

The purpose of course is that I have extra horizontal space with less vertical space. Obviously it doesn't take a rocket scientist to pull this off, but I feel like I might be missing a cleaner/easier solution than my own, perhaps using CSS or clever use of an existing ASP.NET control. It seems like a common enough requirement, but I can't quite get the search terms right to find what I'm looking for.

i can use escape() and unescape() functions by Client side easily, but the problem when i have use escape() method for peice of HTML , then i dont know how to unescape this piece of HTMl By Server Side not By Client Side. how i can unescape (escapped HTML) by server side?

I am having a lot of trouble with a seemingly simple thing. In an ASP.NET webform I have two ListBoxes, with Add and Remove buttons in between. The user can select items in one ListBox and using the buttons, swap them around. I do this on the clientside using javascript. I then also have a SAVE button, which I want to process on the server side when the user is happy with their list.
Problems : First I was getting the following problem when I clicked SAVE :
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. I read that one of the methods to get around this was to put my ListBoxes into an UpdatePanel, which I did, and I am getting further.
However, now the event handler for the button's Click event is not being run if the user has used the clientside javascript to alter the contents of the Listboxes. If the user has not altered the contents of the listboxes, the handler does execute.

I have 2 multi line labels side by side to render html mimicking 2 <td> cells. They have to be in the same cell. I have <td valign="top">. How do you get the 2nd label to render text at the top?

Co name
I need the title to be on the same line as customer name. Currently title is on the same line as phone.
BTW I know it's possible but I can't use/insert a table in the cell to display the data side by side.
