how can I check the user if the user modify the text from textbox/ dropdownlist? the case is like ms word, if the user modify the file and then close the file, there is a messagebox to ask user if he/she save or not?

I have a section where Period Start,Period End and submit button.After submiting the bottom of the page displaying(List View) the period with Edit Button .If edit button click then Bottom Top Period Start and Period End load with respective date and if you click on the Submit button then period will modifying .It is working fine.

On my form I refresh a dataset in the Page_Load() event. But I also have a filter button which changes the dataset and reloads it. When the user clicks a button, the dataset gets refreshed twice. I would like to modify the Page_Load() event so that if the page is being reloaded because of a button click event, then I will skip refreshing the dataset in the Page_Load() event. Is it is possible to determine that the page is reloading due to a button click event?

I find a special circumstances as follows:
My web form contains a postback button. The button will postback and call a server-side method. The method will process something that may spend about 20 seconds. However, user may try to click the button several times within the waiting period. The sequential clicking may cause the first running method incomplete and stop, since the second click postback will dominate the method and start again. How can I solve it?
PS: It can not use client side script to disable the button, because it requires to use some server-side validation within the method.
