Web Forms :: Code Caching When Making Change In Visual Studio
Oct 21, 2010
Within the Application_BeginRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e) method, I have code that checks whether the site is running on localhost or the live site. The code appears to be caching, when I make a change in visual studio, and do a refresh in IE or Firefox, the same old code appears to be running and the result in the browser is not what is expected.
I have problem using Visual Studio.NET 2003. When I open solution made early ago, choose the code of the existing .aspx page, could not change it, because when type nothing happened, no letter, no sign, like the keyboard is "dead" (but it is not, ofcourse).
i have a project that makes calls to SQL db stored procs. I wanted to do a global name change of the stored procedures in the code behind. now I am getting errors that controls on the pages are not defined in the code behind. I did not save the changes that were made.
i write and my page loads it find. When i click on the link instead of having the image show on screen it promps me to download it. Why? How can i make it display in the browser? gif and jpg both display in the browser.-edit- i am using FireFox 3.5 there is no code that serves it, its just a link and the file exist in my folder. The link is like http://localhost:1737/a/b/file.png. IE 8 displays the png w/o making me download. I havent tried with other browsers but surely i click on direct png link in firefox on every site mine (in VS) should act the same.
Every time I press F1 to view the online Help it launches in the Opera browser. I really dislike Opera and only have it installed on my PC for testing purposes. How do I change it to IE?
can Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I'm currently editing some html/css within a aspx file inside of Visual Studio 2010. I'm using Chrome as my browser. When I make changes inside of Visual Studio and save/ctrl + F5 to run it frequently fails to load the new updated .css file due to pulling old cached versions of the CSS.
I've used visual studio as my primary HTML editor before but when I work with pure html/css files I just save and refresh the file in chrome and it will refresh the updated css 100% of the time. I've only started to experience this problem when working with aspx files and running things via ctrl + f5. Anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?
Is there any tool for Visual Studio 2008 which can reformat ASPX code to make it more presentable (eg insert line breaks, format the lines so they wrap when necessary, etc)?
I'm missing a the code browser when I create pages that have the code not placed in a seperate file. For pages with .asp.vb files I get the browser correctly.
I think it's called a code browser but just in case it's not I mean the dropdown that shows Page Events, Buttons and other controls that can be selected along with their events.
How do I turn on those dropdowns for pages with code behind that uses <script> tags in the actual .aspx page?
Included (Showing page events just under the tab):
Is there a way to change the color of the IDE with VS 2008? All of the backgrounds of the toolbar and the tabs are a bluish grey. It would be cool to change it to a higher contrast color scheme, like black/grey.

When i create a class file .vs add some default using statement like (using System;using System.Collections.Generic;) .But now i expect vs add using System.Configuration by default.
My Visual Studio is in english but ASP.NET Configuration Tool runs in the os language because I don't work in an english country. How to configure it into english language if possible ?
I was wondering if there is an option to change the debugger url when I initialize the debugger. I want it to start off at http://localhost:xxxx/controller/view rather than just http://localhost:xxxx/.
