Visual Studio :: Debugging Global.asax Code In Integrated Mode?

Feb 21, 2011

migrating my ASP.NET project from IIS 6 to IIS 7.5 I came across an issue with the Managed Pipeline Mode set to 'Integrated'.I have a Global.asax file in my web root to initialize some objects, gather data etc., however I am not able to hit breakpoints in the associated code-behind file (VS 2008). The code is executing very well (as I can tell from Eventlog), but I want to step into all that initializing there and need to have the debugger attached properly.Everything is working as expected in Classic pipeline mode. Since I'd like to benefit from Integrated Mode features in the future I wonder if I have to give up the ability to debug my Application start and error events...

Security :: Change Schema Name Of SQL Stored Procedures In (C#)?

Oct 31, 2010

I moved my website to the hosting control panel (ASP.NET files and SQL 2005 database).The hosting provider does not allow the SQL stored procedures with schema name 'dbo' (for example - the provider does not allow 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'). So, all'dbo' schema became 'myusername' ie 'myusername.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion' in theSQL database. Now, when I open my website, I am getting the following error -Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'.What change should I make in my ASP.NET (C#) to make the website to look for 'myusername.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion', instead of 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'?

DataSource Controls :: SqlDataSource How To Change The Stored Procedures At Run Time

Aug 18, 2010

Is it possible to change the select, insert and update stored procedure of an SqlDataSource at run time. I don't mean to change the definition of the stored procedure, but I mean to change the assignment, i.e. To change the select stored procedure from "selectSP1" to "selectSP2" at run time. Is it possible?

Stored Procedures - How To Change Or Add Data To A Data Repeater And Get It To Display

Apr 26, 2010

Here is my code-behind, this adds the "OakTreeName" to the datarepeater. There's about 200 of them.

Dim cmd As New SqlClient.SqlCommand("OakTree_Load", New SqlClient.SqlConnection(ConnStr))
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.Connection.Open()
Dim datareader As SqlClient.SqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
OakTree_Thumb_Repeater.DataSource = datareader
OakTree_Thumb_Repeater.DataBind()
cmd.Connection.Close()

Here is essentially what I'd like to do with my markup:

<ContentTemplate>
<asp:Repeater ID="OakTree_Thumb_Repeater" runat="server">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="<%# Container.DataItem("OakTreeName") %>" AlternateText="" runat="server" />
<!-- Or I'd like to do it this way by adding a custom variable to the data repeater -->
<asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="<%# Container.DataItem("OakTreeThumbURL") %>" AlternateText="" runat="server" />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:Repeater>
</ContentTemplate>

I would like to manipulate the "OakTreeName" variable before it gets placed into the item template. Basically I need to manipulate the "OakTreeName" variable and then input it as the ImageURL for the imagebutton within the item template. How do I do this? Am I approaching this wrong? Is there a way to manipulate the item template from code-behind before it gets displayed for each round of variables in the data repeater?

Visual Studio :: Can Visual Studio 2008 Be All In One Tool To Integrate Source Code Continuously

Jan 20, 2010

can Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?

Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]

In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional

Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.

In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.

Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.

I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.

DataSource Controls :: Stored Procedures Are Not Showing Up Correctly In The Stored Procedure Drop Down

Apr 27, 2010

I am using Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 and have added a SQL datasource to my form.

When I configure the datasource, I choose my connection string which looks like this in my webconfig:

<connectionStrings>

<add
name="PSFSPRD_ConnectionString"
connectionString="Data

The database I am using has a schema called EQB and as such, my stored procedures are named as EQB.usp_SelectFunds, EQB.usp_SelectAccount, etc.

On the select tab of the Configure Data Source screen, I choose to use a stored procedure. The dropdown shows my stored procedures, however, the schema name does not show up in front of the stored procedures in the drop down. I see only usp_SelectFunds, usp_SelectAccount, etc.

I select one of the stored procedures and when I click TEST, I get the message that the stored procedure is not found. If I instead choose to use a SQL statement instead on the configuration screen and enter EXEC EQB.usp_SelectFunds and click TEST, it works fine.

Why are my stored procedures not showing up correctly in the stored procedure drop down and how can I fix this?

Retain Intellisense For Javascript Global Variable In Visual Studio 2008?

Mar 29, 2011

I have a JavaScript wrapper that I initialize on body load and set to a global variable.

Just after creating the object, I have full intellisense, but when referring to it later, from another function, the intellisense is lost. I presume this is because of dynamic typing:

var myWrapper;
function onload() {
myWrapper = new Wrapper(args);
myWrapper. //intellisense here.
}
function whatever() {
myWrapper. //intellisense lost.
}

I get round this by pretending to create the object again before my code, and then deleting the line:

function whatever() {
myWrapper = new Wrapper(); //pretend to create object again.
myWrapper. //intellisense returns!
}

Has the inference been improved in vs 2010, or is there any way to tell Javascript about the type of object I'm currently working on?

Visual Studio :: Intellisense Not Working For Assembly Registered In Global Web.config?

Nov 3, 2010

I made a custom server control library that all of our websites will be using. I have registered the dll in the global web.config of our production and development servers, and everything runs fine in the browser. The only problem I have is Visual Studio/Intellisense not recognizing my control. I get the error message "Unknown server tag...", which in turn throws other validation warnings. Does anyone know how to tell Visual Studio to include dll's registered in this location? Our sites are .net 4.0 and below is an excerpt from the web.config located in %SystemDrive%WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv4.0.30319Config on the servers.

<pages>
<controls>
<add assembly="[assembly info]" tagPrefix="irnrControls" namespace="IRNR.Controls"/>
</controls>
</pages>

It's not that big of a deal right now as I only have one control in the dll, but I would like to fix this before I add more controls.

Edit: I can't debug the site and it fails when I try to build it. The Output window displays "Unknown server tag".

Visual Studio :: Cannot Debug SQL CLR Stored Process

Jul 12, 2010

I had everything up and running fine, was able to debug and everything.

I could attach to process and run a SP in the database and it would fire over to VS stopping on the breakpoint.

I can't remember what I did to mess it up but I ended up uninstalling my DB and reinstalling it; SQL Server 2005.

Now when I try to attach nothing happens. The SP runs and that is it I never go back into VS.

I'm thinking I have to reinsatll VS now.

Visual Studio :: How To Save The Query As A Stored Procedure

Mar 15, 2011

This has bother me for a long time but I cannot believe there is no such a simple function. I start a new query through the "Server Explorer". The query builder is brilliant and I can easity build and test my queries. The only problem is: there is no way to save it!

If I want to use this query as a stored procedure, I need to create a new stored procedure through "Server Explorer" and than copy the query into it. And I also need to define all the parameters(filters) to finish that strored procedure. This is a boring and frastrated job as I belive the query builder has all the information to as this query into the stored procedure.

MVC :: Calling Stored Procedures From Within MVC?

Dec 1, 2010

We have an existing application with a mature database where most of the business logic is in Stored Procedures that are maintained by a separate department. Application developers are not given access to the database except via stored procedures.

I am looking for an example of calling stored procedures from within MVC.

Actually, we have done almost no development until now in ASP.Net at all. Is the difficulty in interacting with stored procedures a MVC problem or is it a more generic ASP.Net problem?

Accessing The DB: Using Stored Procedures?

Aug 7, 2010

I used to be a software tester. I am a little bit familiar with stored procedures from client-server apps. My understanding is that they are on a server (where they operate more efficiently than if they were a module of code on a client machine) and they are used to modify the database.

Can anyone give me information a nutshell about stored procedures and when to use them?

Web Forms :: Stored Procedures - In At The Deep End?

Aug 19, 2010

I'm a novice @ asp.net and in fact any dynamic website building as I'm normally the dba behind the scenes, however, circumstances arise and now I'm looking at the front end, so forgive me if my question seems so obvious or badly worded, it's only day 2 of the .net environment for me.

I have a stored procedure with several parameters (11) that I have written & tested on the server.

I am trying to call it on a web form (using visual web developer 2008 express)

I have created the text boxes & drop downs on the form.

Added a gridview table connected to my stored procedure (which then works on testing) (parameters set to control & picked from the dropdown of form boxes to match).

there is also a submit button. (no coding added) just dragged on page.

Like i said when I test the connection for the gridview of the stored procedure it works, however on the web face it doesn't. I put in the parameters click the submit button and the screen refreshes, i get done @ the bottom but no results. I tried just using the sql and got the same result. I've looked at books but can't see what I'm missing, although, i suspect the onclick event of my submit button.
