View 1 RepliesI have a database where a user inputs data to multiple databound drop down listboxes. That's saved to my aspnet database. Then when the page loads again, I want to select the ddls items that the user selected as stored in the database to these databound ddls. But it doesn't work, because on pageload, they haven't been databound yet.
What's the best way to do this? Do I need to run a SELECT statement for each and every ddl on it's databound event?

Here is what am trying to accomplish...I want to have a DropDownList that is populated by a field from a table. Then once a user selects one of the enteries, he/she then enters a value for that selection in a textbox, then clicks enter or add....now upon doing this, I want to have a GridView that tabulates all the entries the user adds, and keep a total of all entries as the bottomline in the GridView. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to get it done.Does anyone know how I can get this done, or are there examples out there that my searches have missed cause I haven't really seen any examples I could look at. I would think this should be a common solution that is used all over

I want to use a dropdownlist control so that a user can select a value. My problem is, the text value can be very large. Is there any way to make the text to appear on more than one line? Or is there any AJAX or jquery solutions? I can use a gridview with a checkbox but my client really wants a dropdownlist.
View 3 RepliesI have a survey form, survey.aspx, that looks for information about 3 different people (hiking guides) who are all contained in a single DropDownList. Instead of repeating the list over and over, I figured I'd put them all into a single user control, GuideList.ascx, shown here.
[Code]....
The form has 3 instances of this User Control. Here’s what the first one looks like:

In trying to access the value the user chooses from the DropDownList, I have created the following code
in GuideList.ascx.cs

In Survey.aspx.vb, I have the following, that often blows up because it doesn’t like G1:

I have tried using GuideList1 and GetGuide and GuideList1.GetGuide and GuideList1.G1 and all sorts of variations, but cannot seem to figure out what I'm missing to access the value of the DropDownList.
I'm trying to create a website that allows the user to type something up and it gets stored into a database. I'm looking to give the user some control as to different formatting such as for decorations, weight, style, etc... Also I want to keep the spaceing the user inputs into the text area as well (if the user presses enter to create a blank line). Is there a control out there that would let me do something.
Pretty much what I'm thinking of is something like what you would use to create a thread on a forum (Like what I'm using as I type this), where I get to choose the font style and such.
I am trying to create a web page, that use a user-control (the user control is win-form).I am getting the message : That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.I put the dll on c:windowsassembly, but I don't know why I getting the above. Here is my code

I need to create a user control which will be loaded according to the selected value of a dropdownlist. The Dropdownlist is not the part of Control. I want to pass the value of selected value of dropdonwlist to my user control and the user control will load according to the Value. For not postback it work fine. But when the page is postback, that is when i select a item form dorpdownlist, the user control is not loaded.
View 6 RepliesI have a user control that has some drop down lists. These DDLs are used by the user to filter their product search on my search page. A button is used to post the form and get the results of the product search. Those results are displayed on the results page, which also has the search filter user control on it. I'd like the results page to have the values of the DDLs be preserved from the search page. Example: user selected color of red and size of large on the search page. When the results page is displayed, I'd like the selected color to be red for the color DDL and the size to be large for the size DDL. How can I do this?

I have a SQL query that returns about 5-10 records. For each one of these records I want to query another table using values in that row as parameters and create/populate a GridView. Can I create these GridViews and SQL connections programmatically in a for loop? I mean, I can't just plop ten GridViews and SQLConnections on my page at design time because I'm not certain how many rows will be returned in the first query. What should I do?
View 4 RepliesI have .ascx web user control in my web site. Now I want to make dll for that .ascx file. let me know steps how can I make .dll file for that .ascx web user control.
View 2 RepliesI want to know how can we create web user control dynamically.
Scenario: Basically i am developing registration user control. I have a web page(say, SelectInputs.aspx) that lists different types of fields along with checkbox attached to each of them for selection. Once i select desired input controls (which should appear in user control) and click submit button then the file (.ascx) should be created from code behind.
eg: Lets say on SelectInputs.aspx i select fields viz. Firstname(textbox), Lastname(textbox), DateOfBirth(3 dropdowns) etc and click on submit button then from code behind the .ascx file should be generated that will include Firstname(textbox), Lastname(textbox), DateOfBirth(3 dropdowns) etc.
how to create user control in asp.net and use it my project?
