How to get a dropdown list to use my own query, because i couldnt figure out how to use my variables in asp.net's configuration.

'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I couldnt find one for linq related questions.I have the following problem. I have four tables, One with users, one with projects, one with the users and the projects they are in (joinProjectTable) and on table where the users can fill in there worked hours for a certain project. These hours are filled in on a daily base. Now every month there is going to be created a report on the workedHours table so there is visible which user has entered how many hours for a certain project. On this report there is gonna be a billing for the company where for the hours are worked. This is the easy part, the hard part is the following.
companies also want to have a list of users that didn't entered any hours for that particular month for a particular project. So I have to write a linq query that would look in the joinprojecttable to see which users are joined to which projects, and than with that join it should look if that particular combination (user+project) is in anyway entered in the workedhourstable for that particular month. If not this has to be shown in the datagrid, for every user that isnt in the workedhourstable for that month. So it should be a certain NOT query, but I can't seem to figure it out.does anyone have any idea to accomplisch this in Linq2Sql? I'm using VB instead of C#.
I am having a 2 dropdown list, in the first dropdown I have 3company names,for each company I am having separate tables,every table have a empcode, if the user select the company name in the 1st dropdownlist, as per company selected the 2nd dropdownlist it will fill the list of employee codes as per the selection..

I'm new with programming. I have a GridView that have the specific user data. When the user log in I retrieve the data for that specific user. All I need is; How do I make the gridview get the data of the logged user using a datatable that has a query. Just bind it with the datatable.This is some code that other programmer made, I continue his work.

Here is what am trying to accomplish...I want to have a DropDownList that is populated by a field from a table. Then once a user selects one of the enteries, he/she then enters a value for that selection in a textbox, then clicks enter or add....now upon doing this, I want to have a GridView that tabulates all the entries the user adds, and keep a total of all entries as the bottomline in the GridView. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to get it done.Does anyone know how I can get this done, or are there examples out there that my searches have missed cause I haven't really seen any examples I could look at. I would think this should be a common solution that is used all over

First up i would like to apoligize for these questions that are proable realy easy. I have been put on the spot by my boss and have been told to change all my php to asp.net c so it can go in this new cms i have at work. Ok so my current issue is that i dont know how to add html formating to a result string i pull out of my mysql database. I have my result sheet pulling into a gridview, what i want to do is put some information drawn from each row in the gridview out side of the <Tr> tag. Is this possible? But within the Table Tag second issue is it possiple to feed data into a page and then run a mysql query like i was doing in php.
I get data using sqldatasource control (about 100 reacords) and fill first dropdownlist with this data , I want to fill the second one with all othe data without one which selected in the first one ( I want to remove selected record from datalist and fill others in next dropdownlist) . and repeat this operation for all 25 dropdownlist. I have a Gridview which I'm populating through code behind. A couple of columns of the gridview I've set up to be drop down lists. What I want, is that when I run my Insert query, it takes the drop down list selected value, finds the appropriate ID and uses that ID as part of the insert query.

Trying to use a dropdownlist to query a database so that it will return all values except 1 (or more in future versions).
For example, assume you had a simple table name "MYFRIENDS" which has two fields named "GROUP" and "NAME" with the following records:
Group
Name
A
John
B
Jane
C
Tony
D
Sue
What I want to do is create a DropDownList that has only 2 list items related to the "GROUP" field. The first list item should return records from the database related to Group A only. Then, the second list item should return all other records EXCLUDING those belonging to Group A.
The drop down list should look something like this (I've put a question mark where I don't know what to do):

After the selection is chosen in the above drop down list, it should query the database and return the desired result. I'm using an AccessDataSource with select parameters. Here's a sample of what that looks like:

Things I've tried that didn't work:
I tried using "Not A" as the the 2nd list item's value. I was thinking p1 would be replaced with the value "Not A" and the query would read "WHERE GROUP LIKE Not A". But, the query syntax "Like Not" is technically wrong. I tried changing the Where Clause to "WHERE GROUP p1" and then replaced the list item's value to "LIKE A" and the second to "NOT LIKE A". Again, I was thinking p1 would be replaced to read "WHERE GROUP LIKE A" and "WHERE GROUP NOT LIKE A". I also tried changing the "SelectCommand" itself so that after the dropdownlist changed, it would first change the selectcommand first and then run the query.
Why the first 2 items didn't work became somewhat obvious to me after thinking about it for a little while. However, I would think the 3rd one would/should work... as long as you have the sequence of events correct which up to this point I haven't been able to figure out.

Well I'm not familiar with SP's yet, and I can't find a single example of what I want to do. basically I want to retrieve the town & county where the customers id are equal (note there will only ever be 1 result)
I can't figure out how to address the results to be stored within the output variables.

a myth has been passed to me by a senior who told me to 'always' design a crystal report using Add command and not through the table view (like selecting tables and linking them manually).I have been having a hard time writing the queries for master detail reports and making sub report links manually. It gets pretty confusing sometimes.I find it easy to design reports by just selecting two tables and dragging and dropping the link in crystal report designer.

SO I have created an object data source on a page from a table adapter using the various Wizards in Visual Studio.
Its meant to query a diary Database by a DateTime parameter called diaryDate. I want to query from a date Now to the next 14 days ahead.
I want to display the entries in a Grid View when the page loads.
So I'm a bit stuck now as to how to set the two query parameters date1 and date2. I want to set date1 = now() and date2 = now() + 14 days.
How do I set those parameters when the page loads ?
Should I have used the adapter Wizard approach of do I have to write all the code in the code behind page ??
