Will A Web App Designed For IE Run On Firefox Without Any Modifications

Jan 21, 2011

We have designed C# .Net our web app to run on IE.

I mean the front-end: Will the front-end be perfectly the same for all types of browsers like lE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera etc?

Or will we have to do changes and keep separate versions for each browser type? Will it be possible to use
style sheets for this without coding? If so how?

Will there be any affect on the back-end also?

Also will Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera etc. support Javascript, Jscript etc?

Mar 23, 2011

I upgraded my current IE6 version to IE8 recently, but one of my Asp.net web application has some problem with the allignment of some lebels, textboxes etc in the web pages. The application is working fine, but only with the design issue(some textboxes and labels are not in a proper order as before in IE6). I have selected the compatability view in IE8, but still the issue is there. I have changed the 'Absolute' positioning of the fields in the web pages to 'Relative', but no use.

Populate A Page With Input Entered From A Previous Page?

Jun 25, 2010

on my website I have an "Enroll" page where users submit some basic information, there's some basic validation on that page then the user is taken to an "Enrollment Confirmed" page (which i don't want to display the info from previous page). On the confirmation page there is link to a "Print Enrollment Confirmation" page which, on this page, I want to contain the information entered from the "Enroll" page. So basically, I want the input entered on "Page 1" put into labels on "Page 3". I've seen some examples of transferring information from "Page 1" to "Page 2" but I have an extra page users need to go through before hitting the page with their previously entered data.

VB.NET Web Application Input Box / Input Box That Comes Up When A User Clicks 'Find' Button?

Aug 4, 2010

I would like to program an Input Box that comes up when a user clicks 'Find' button. It asks 'Please enter an employee number'. Then it takes the employee number typed into a text box and searches a dataset for that specific employee record.

I know that it should be server side because the client may not have the proper javascript installed or diabled. Therefore, can someone give me some code to put in code behind that can pop up an input box and use the input after, if this can be done?

MVC :: Arbitrary Input Fields On Page

Oct 23, 2010

I am looking for some adivce about the possbility of doing the following while working whith MVC. Firstly sorry if the subject line is not very descriptive. I have put something together in ASP WebForms where by I can put a few core fields on my page that identify an object, e.g. a Name and ID... and then I can add arbritrary fields to the aspx page that are now saved and retrieved with the "owning object". These extra fields are stored in a seperate table on the database to the primary object fields. A short explanation of how this works:

1. I have my own version of TextBox (and other input controls) called r3d:TextBox (etc.) and this text box has XmlParent and XmlElement tags, this is done by way of an interface.

2. I have a r3dBase page that all my forms inherit from and this page check for the existstance of any r3d:TextBox (and other input controls) that have the XmlParen and XmlElement tag defiened.

3. When an iheriting form is saved the controls with the Xml tags defined are also saved, but I don't have to change any code in the code behind pages. The framework I have put in place takes care of this for me. The data is saved

4. When an inheriting page is loaded all controls with the XmlParent and XmlElement tags are populated with any data that has previously been saved for them that belong to the main object being displayed on the page.

This provides for a nice easy way for me to extend my forms with non core data when clients request new fields. It also means that different clients can request different new fields and I don't have to make any modifications to the core objects. I have another mechanism that determins what fields are seen by which clients.

Anyway I am completely new to MVC (not written a single line of code) so I have no idea as to whether this paradigm will lend itself to the above described mechanisms or not. Does any one have anythoughts about this, approaches I might try to achive the above to of functionality or perhaps completely different suggestions that would achive a similar end that might work well with MVC

Forms Data Controls :: 1-8 Lines Of Repeating Input Controls - How Should To Do It?

Oct 26, 2010

Based on dynamic data, I'm going to have to display 1-8 rows of data input controls (a check box and several text boxes per row) and obtain input for all the rows I display.I don't think a GridView is the way to do that (although if it is, please help educate me on why). Each row will require input from the user which I'll then process, and I'd like to have all the rows (there may be only one, or there could be up to 8) display at once on the screen and the user only presses "Continue" when all input is completeWhat's the best way to accomplish this? Can you point me to an example of how I might accomplish this?
