View 1 RepliesI'm currently using ASP.net. I wonder what would I need to do to let the browser wait for 3 seconds so my users can read the text "Customer Successfully Added" before turning to another page? I have attached my code as follows.
Protected Sub btnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAdd.Click
Dim db As New DatabaseClass
db.addProfile(txtLN.Text, txtFN.Text, txtUsername.Text, txtPassword.Text, txtAddress.Text, txtZip.Text, txtPhone.Text, txtEmail.Text)
lblMessage.Text = "Customer Successfully Added"
End Sub
In addition, I'm not sure how to utilize MSDN. For me, its information overload, I'm wondering how to go about finding the solution on MSDN so i would be able to solve my problems in the future.
I'm using facebook sdk to publish some information on the wall...
var client1 = new FacebookClient(access_token); client1.Post("me/feed", new { message = "Something" });
But I get an error: (OAuthException - #200) (#200) The user hasn't authorized the application to perform this action.
As a newbie coming from a Java background with tag libraries I wonder if there is a simple possibility to render areas depending on backend values.For example if I have search form I do not want to render the table for the search results as long as the user hasn't pressed the search button. Of course I can iterate over the model containing an empty list but this does not allow to suppress rendering the whole table.Using web forms I would just control the visibility of the affected tag(s) in the code behind file but how do I do this with ASP.NET MVC?Can I use a partital view for a case like this? But I think I would have the same problem. How can I determine if a partial view is rendered (e.g. the whole result table with header)?

View 1 RepliesI am using visual studio 2010 and have created a website for a client. The problem I am having, other than enabling flash video playback which I am researching, is how to make the user accounts expire after a year. He wants users to pay for a year subscription to the website to access the videos, but I can't figure out how to make them good for only a year. And as an aside, if I could make the videos "self-destruct" after 48 hours when downloaded.
View 13 RepliesI use ASP.NET Form Authentication method in my project to keep login information as user id in user's cookie like the below code. It works well without any problem.
FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userInfo.id.ToString(), model.AutoLogin);
But the problem occurs when user use automatic login and then he change his password. In some site, I see it will force you to re-login when you change password. It's quite easy for forcing current page to log out and re-login again.
But I don't find any nice idea for forcing other auto-login cookie in other browser to login again. I have some quite ugly idea for doing that but I don't like it.
Keep latest change password date in user data.
Put it in authentication cookie like the following code.
FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userInfo.id.ToString() + '|' + userInfo.ChangePasswordDate, model.AutoLogin);
if my website when session of user expire i get the following error.
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
My website is in vs3.5

I have a strange problem on my website that affects both IE 7 and IE 8 browsers, in that on a form with textboxes, once the cursor is placed in an active / enabled text box, the cursor itself shows up like 2 or 3 pixels to the left of the textbox. Mind you not a show stopper, but it is weird, because when you type text into these, the cursor flashing still appears before the last letter type. I think users will find that a bit confusing if they notice it.
I've verified that this is not happing in Firefox, Safari or Chrome.Any thoughts or ideas how to fix this?I tried padding the text box to move the cursor over, which worked but didn't fix it from showing up before the last letter typed.
I Have a webpage named "Test.aspx" and a web user control named "TestWebContro.ascx",..
i have a "Linkbutton" on "TestWebContro.ascx" and "Label" on "Test.aspx",.. now my query is how can we change the text value of "label" on the click event of "LinkButton",...

i have created an user control with a text box and a list control inside ajax update panel to create a control like the google search text box which floods the values as the user types in.
its working fine too...now whats my problem is that when i am trying to use two user controls that i created in the same page. when i am running the page am able to use only the second user control. when i start typing in the first control the focus control is getting passed to the second one automatically and i am not able to type in anything in the first control.
what can be the reason? am using only one script manager for both. the update panel is inside the usercontrol.
how to load user control dynamically on asp.net page? I am loading user control in my page_Init() event under if(!IsPostBack) but when user post the with any button click then my user control is disapper?
If i am loading control without if(!IsPostBAck) then its fine, but each time a page is posted loading of control is not good because it will slow my web site?

View 1 RepliesI have a web page, with three buttons which allow a user to cancel, save & exit, or save & continue. to assign the Save & Continue button the ability to accept the Enter key as being equal to it being clicked? Thought this might make it faster for data entry, so they can keep hands on keyboard, and just hit enter, instead of having to use mouse to click save & continue.
View 3 RepliesI'm calling an asp.net webservice from an ASP clasic page basically just with:
<a href='http://domain/webservice.asmx/command'>Command</a>
and when users hit that button it works but they're just shown an xml page. The function will either work or not so I was wondering if it'd be possible to just have a pop up box appear to tell them if it worked or not after they clicked it rather than redirecting them to an xml page.
I'd prefer to not have to use jQuery or another javascript library.
If that's not possible, is there any way to dress up the XML page? Currently it says 'This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.' at the top.
Also, the domain that the webservice is on is different to the domain that the website that's call the webservice is on. Not sure if that matters.
I have a small website with about 10 members. 5 of those are now banned.
I have ensured that they cannot login through the login page.
However because the authentication cookie is persistent and is set to expire after a few months if they return to the site they will still be logged in.
A simple solution is just to expire all authentication tickets/cookies.
