I have a Web App (VS 2010 Beta 2, using VB) and it works flawlessly on the development system. When I publish it, everything works fine unless I use an update panel. If I use the update panel, and try to use something such as a dragpanel, I get the following error.
Webpage error details

I have created my site using ASP.NET Personal Starter Kits 3.5. I use Visual Studio 2008 only . .with its built-in SQL Server (2005 Express) ... my database in App_Data is ASPNETDB.MDF ...
I have created some of my tables also ....in ASPNETDB ..
In my local PC the site was running fine ...
But when I publish my site on production server it doesn't work and shows the following error
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
My hosting provider gave me the connection string to connect to the SQL Server 2005 but it doesn't work...
I don't understand why my site was running fine using the production SQL Server 2005 in my local PC when I include ASPNETDB.MDF file in App_Data in my local pc only ..if I remove file ASPNETDB.MDF from App_Data of my local pc ... the site stops working ...
Can anybody tell em how to fix this ... !! I am very tensed since last 3-4 days
how to transfer my data from devlopment server to production server ,i have already records exist in my database if i go for script then how can i transfor record in script i can transfor only table ,procedure and views.I am using SqlServer 2005.
I am wondering the best way to change my connection string based upon which server I am accessing.
Essentially, all of the development is done on our local machines - once we think it is working, we upload it to our development server. In these 2 instances, I want my application to go off of our "dev" connection string for the SQL database in the web.config.
However, once it is published to our production server (for an internal application), I would like the connection string to point to our live db.
I am using the N-Tier model by Imar Spaanjaars - and have it setup like he suggests - In my DAL I have a class called AppConfiguration -
In this class I have a public readonly property ConnectionString() which returns the connection string in the web.config.
This is in an individual class library. What I would like to do is something similar to:
If server is localhost OR devstring return devString else return productionstring
I am using this code to pass variables from ASP.NET application to HTML Application:
[Code]....
The above code is run from page_laod event, and I am making some development changes on the Development Machine (say http://eutdev02/ehrmd).
After the ASPX page is loaded, and I debug the javascript in the HTML (F12 under IE8), and can see the Cookie is found in the browser.
But, when I open the target HTML/Javascript web page (which will read the cookie prmStaffID), but the HTML Page is on the production machine (separate server say
http://prod01/Attendance.html), the Cookie is not found !!!
It seems to me that Cookies will persist only on one IIS Server, and will not be global.
Question:How I can persist the Cookie on the Client Machine regardless of the the Server Machine ?
For testing purposes, I want to send the cookie to the client from teh Development Server, but the target application is under HTML/Javascript, and I want to be able to read the same Cookie using Javascript.
Problem: I need to move a local development database to the production server without any of the test data.
I am running SQL Server Express 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio 2008.
To create my ASP.NET Membership 2.0 system I created the DB initialy and ran aspnet_regsql.exe
I then added my own tables manually to store additional information.
I adjusted the web.config file with an application name.
When I ran a sript the application ID name was created and populated in the aspnet_Applications table. My script created a new member created and added to the admin role. Ok so everything go so far.
Now I want to move the local DB to the server. I know the connection string and can change this in the web.config.
My hosting company doesn't provide restore, so I don't think I can backup and restore
Q 1. What would be the best way to move the database across. Bearing in mind I need to clean the database out of test data.
Would it be just generate an SQL Script for the database and run it as a query on the server? And if this is the best way then do I need to set the permissions for the ASPNET user?
Q 2. What is the best way to clear out the data in the local database.?
i am calling the webservice from acrobat javascript. it works very well in development server. but when i put the same code in production server, it doesnt call the webservice.
I have a asp.net MVC web application that uses t4 mvc , Jquery for validation / Ajax and CSS file for styling. On the dev machine (my pc) the application works fine as expected. However on the production server the css styling and jquery do not work. I use code like:
to include the JavaScript and css files in the views on the master page, the paths are generated correctly (I can see this from the source created )but the site will not render correctly. In fire bug the net tab tells me that the CSS and JavaScript files are found and the IIS server returns a 302 code. I am using a new production server 2008 server IIS7 (fresh build) with .net 4 installed. Is there anything I could be missing on the server?
I have created a dynamic Robots.txt file for my application and I have created an redirect entry in my web config in the <system.web> section and it works perfectly in my development environment but once I uploaded the file to my server it does not work and gives me an error 404.Requested URLhttp://www.canadawelcome.ca:80/robots.txt
Physical Path E:webcanadawelc1htdocs obots.txt
This is what I have added to my system.web section
It somethimes happens that, when I use PrinceXML to convert a webpage to a pdf, the local ASP.NET Development Server stops working...It popups the message "ASP.NET Development Server stops has stopped working"
i am using Intelligencia.UrlRewriter on my website and it works fine on my development machine, i tryed to deploy on IIS6 and i get this error:

I've a ASP.Net application which utilizes SQL Server Stored Procedures and Web Services using Windows Authentication. The idea is to use the logged in user credentials for invoking the web service (This is critical since the web service use the authentication credentials to assign the owner of the created or updated record) and for executing the stored procedure. When I am using VS.Net integrated web server the result is just fine (May be because this server starts under current logged in user account) The SQL Server SP returns expected results (Even when I execute them from Query Analyzer) and web service credentials is set correctly to the current logged in user. However when I host the application in local IIS it's not working as expectedly. The Sql Server stored procedure returns EMPTY dataset and web service credentials is set to empty.I am using
I'm puzzled by this predicament that I'm in right now. I developed a simple application in ASP.NET 2.0 using Visual Studio 2005 and Crystal Reports that came with VS2005. My code works and displays the report correctly with the data on my desktop but when I copy it to the production server to deploy it, everything else runs except for the report which only displays a blank screen.
I've installed Crystal Reports on the server, the IIS setting has the correct ASP.net Framework version. When I view the source on the blank report, it is pointing to the correct path for all the Crystal Reports scripts and images.
I created a http Module following this tutorial. The module just displays a simple "Hello from OnBeginRequest in custom module.".I've referenced it in web.config and then, to satisfy my scenario (at work we need to see a module in action for all websites on a server, with the minimal configuration) I installed the module in the GAC, then I edited the "global" web.config in order tomake the module work for all the my web applications
I have seen the examples on how to switch between connections strings for development and production enviroments. My web.config also calls out a connection string for <roleManager and membership><providers>. Can this be setup to switch between the two connection strings?
First time i am going to work on (maintenance project) application that is already in production. The application was developed in ASP.net 3.5/C# 3.0(web forms) with jQuery,Ajax,Sql server 2005 and microsoft enterprise library 4.0.,WCF services. Questions (bear with me if my question is wrong)
1) Is it possible to use Visual Studio (2008 with SP1) to debug the remote application (i.e already in production)?.What are the tools do i need to use in order to keep track the things in case something went wrong?
2) Simply looking into Log file ,will solve the issues?
3) After having done with enhancements,is it possible to directly deploy the DLLs into production server.Won't it affect the running application?
what are the procedures i need to follow.Client is ready to provide any tools for my support.(What are the area do i need to aware to handle production system
am newbie to asp.net 3.0 ,req: is like ...whn user enters id in the textbox, the query has to run against the sql server DB and has to generate the result inside a gridview with a chkbox field by default chked, now in the DAL layer ,is it better option to use datareader(think not, since it has to always maintain connection)..or webservice or WCF or are there any other simple optios available??
