I need to get data from a database and I need to spit out this data in html formatk using my command line app. For this I am planning to use some sort of template-engine. I was wondering if there is anything in .NET that can do this for me?
The best option would be if I could reuse the asp.net mvc template engine (razor) in my app, this way I should not need to reinvent the wheel.
I finally managed to upgrade to mvc 2 with areas and get routes working.

I've created a deployment package in visualStudio, the package is generated, but it has an awfull structure, which is basically, the path where I've my project(e.g "CONTENT/D_C/WorkSpace/MyCustomer/TheProjectName/TheDevelopmentBranchFolder/TheCurrentBranch/TheWebApplicationName/obj/Release/Package/PackageTmp/TheSiteIsFinallyHere!!!"
It's problematic, because with the web deployer of IIS, it recreate this path.
So how can I avoid the "D_C/WorkSpace/MyCustomer/TheProjectName/TheDevelopmentBranchFolder/TheCurrentBranch/TheWebApplicationName/obj/Release/Package/PackageTmp" part in visual studio?
I am going to design system that will keep track of publications due by researchers in my work place
Need for this project :
1- a database housing the information .
2- Automatic reports must be generated .
the users will upload PDF and we have around 25 researchers.
I can't decide which one is better for my system .
My questions are :
1- Local web application or windows application ?
2- Access or SQL as database ?
3- I have visual studio 2010 for student use, Could I use it or I need to buy one ?
I need to use [System.Diagnostics.Process ] class in my web project to execute a *.exe file. I can also use the [CreateNoWindow ] property to make it invisible while it does it job behind the scenes. However, webhosting companies do not allow .exe files to be executed on the web. I read some where that if I place the same code (which invokes the .exe file) in a separate class library project and use the respective [dll] in my web application, it will work.

What can be the reason for this error and what to check on the code or the server?
I just added System.Web reference to a dll assembly, the assembly is for windows applications and for web applications. IF the assembly will be deployed on a server, System.Web will be shared using GAC, and there is no overhead. But what about windows clients. I am wondering if there are extra resources or any kind of problems when System.Web is loaded into memory?

I have two systems (System A & System B) both are windows xp.
System A is 32 bit operating system with more Memory so I Installed Visual studio here.
System B is 16 bit with low memory and some peripheral(Finger Print Reader, Thermal Printer) attached.
Now I need to develop a application for System B. Peripherals are attached with system B Only so i need to debug the application which is running in system B. But I cannot install visual studio in system B. Now how can I do that?
What i want to do is code in Global.asax file to check if current date is greater than EndDate(appsetting) it will block access to rest of the pages as what happens when using [Code]....
Moreover it will be a licencing system which will block the application after its EndDate that will be mentioned in web.config.

I don't know anything about the kiosk system .so, whether the asp.net application will work on the kiosk system are not I don't know.
