I need to download files from server through code. The files are located under the server's C://DownloadFiles/*.txt, but i dont want to give hardcoded path in the code. My query is can we use Server.MapPath here, if yes what will be the syntax for this.

View 1 RepliesI've got a project that's going to go on a dedicated server environment. I'll be uploading images to the server, but saving them outside of the virtual folder path of the actual website, like so:

I am generating a text file on server. I want this file to be able to get downloaded by clients accessing the site. Like, when the file is generated a link should appear on the page that says,"Download the File". Clicking that will run a code that will download te file and save it on client's PC. How to do this?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to put together a page where files uploaded by a specific users would be listed in a bulletedlist and I am stuck. Here's the rundown:
Users login, they upload files which are saved to disk in the user's own directory. All the file's information, including the path, is stored in a SQL database.
The user has also its own page, where there is a bulletedlist (set as a hyperlink) that gets the filename from the SQL. However, the path to the file is incomplete.
The file is saved to the site's directory structure: C:WebsitesSiteUploadsUserFile.pdf. However, the hyperlink shows[URL]
Can anyone point me to the right direction? Below is a snippet of the upload method and the retrieval to build the bulletedlist.

I just want to know how can I put a file downloadable link on aspx web page. I mean if I want to put a audio file to download which I have in a folder on server, how can a link could refer to that file, for the user to download it or listen online?

There is a one to many relationship with key field = IDTable1
I have created one client and uploaded 20 files
Now I would like to:
Delete the client record from Table1
Delete all associated records in Table2
Delete all files from the disk based on the paths in Table2
I am able to delete all the records in both tables but I cannot delete the disk files. Here is what I ahve so far:

FolderTwo--------->abc2.pdf
Now my requirement is save those files in another folder

I'm using Request.Files to obtain a file that the user is uploading on my web page.I noticed that if I use the filename property in IIS it gives me a path + filename, however if I run in cassini it only gives me the filename no matter what directory I use.Why is this? We've got a product built using ASP.NET web forms (3.5), and are investigating adding an API to allow other applications to access data and business logic within the application.
What is the best way to implement this? I'm inclined to go down the route of using Http Handlers to read posted XML and return XML, but I'm sure there must be a better way. Is it advisable to use something like WCF instead?As the product will be downloaded and installed by users on their own servers (instead of hosted), it seems like there's a lot of pressure to get it right the first time as making changes will be hard once users start downloading and using the product.
I have a C# assembly that loads external files. This assembly is used by asp.net website. The following is the code that loads the data files

I have hosted a website in Client's Server.
One of the functionality of the site is to create a PDF File on a Specific Shared Path.
The Shared path is mentioned in the Web.Config File.
If the given shared path exists in the same machine then the PDF File is created and stored in the shared path.
If the Shared path exists in the other shared network System then the PDF is not created and not stored in the shared path.
